forward if necessary.
! Make sure that the seat belt does not
become trapped when folding the rear seat
backrest back. Otherwise, it could be
damaged.
X Fold seat backrest 0002bac kuntil it engages.
Red lock status indicator 0003is no longer
visible.
X Adjust the head restraints if necessary
(Y page 99).
X Move the driver's or front-passenger seat

Cargo tie-down rings G
WARNING
The Top Tether anchorages canno tsecure a
load. If you secure a load with the Top Tether
anchorages, the Top Tether anchorages could
be pulled out during braking ,abrupt changes
in direction or in the event of an accident. The
load could slip, tip over or be flung around and
thereby hit vehicle occupants. There is a risk
of injury. Only use the cargo tie down rings when
securing a load.
Observe the following notes on securing
loads:
R Observe the loading guidelines
(Y page 270).
R Secure the load using the cargo tie-down
rings.
R Distribute the load on the cargo tie down
rings evenly.
R Do not use elastic straps or nets to secure
a load, as these are only intended as an
anti-slip protection for light loads.
R Do not route tie-downs across sharp edges
or corners.
R Pad sharp edges for protection.
There are four cargo tie down rings in the
cargo compartment and two in the rear-
compartment footwells 14

Open both Velcro fasteners and remove the
cargo net.
X Unroll and unfold the cargo net.
The upper and lower guide rods must
engage audibly.

Insert guide rod 0003into retainer 0002in the
direction of the arrow.
X Slide guide rod 0003forwards into
retainer 0002in the direction of the arrow.

X Pull tensioning strap 0021by the loose end in
the direction of the arrow until the cargo
net is tight.
X After driving a short distance, check the
tension of the cargo net and retighten it if

Pull belt adjuster 0002upwards in the
direction of the arrow to reduce the tension
on the tensioning strap.
X Unhook belt hook 0003from cargo tie-down

X Press the red button on the upper and lower
guide rods.
X Fold the cargo net and roll it up.
X Close the two Velcro fasteners on the cargo

Cleaning genuine wood and trim
elements !
Do no tuse solvent-based cleaning agents
such as tar remover, wheel cleaners,
polishes or waxes. There is otherwise a risk
of damaging the surface.
! Do not use chrome polish on trim pieces.
The trim pieces have a chrome look but are
mostly made of anodized aluminum and
can lose their shine if chrome polish is
used. Use a damp, lint-free cloth instead
when cleaning the trim pieces.
If the chrome-plated trim pieces are very
dirty, you can use a chrome polish. If you
are unsure as to whether the trim pieces
are chrome-plated or not, consult an
authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.
X Wipe the wooden trim and trim pieces with
a damp, lint-free cloth, e.g. a microfiber
cloth.
X Heavy soiling: use car care and cleaning
products recommended and approved by
Mercedes-Benz.
Cleaning the seat covers General notes
!
Do not use microfiber cloths to clean
genuine leather, artificial leather or
Alcantara® covers. If used often, these can
damage the cover.
i Note that regularc are is essential to
ensure that the appearance and comfort of
the covers is retained ove rtime.
Genuine leather seat covers
Leather is a natural product.
It exhibits natural surface characteristics, for
example:
R Differences in the texture
R Signs of stretching and marking
R Sligh tnuances of color
These are characteristics of leather and not
material defects. !
To retain the natural appearance of the
leather, observe the followin gcleaning
instructions:
R Clean genuine leathe rcovers carefully
with a damp cloth and then wipe the
covers down with a dry cloth.
R Make sure that the leather does not
become soaked. It may otherwise
become rough and cracked.
R Only use leather care agents that have
been tested and approved by Mercedes-
Benz. You can obtain these from a
qualified specialist workshop.
Seat covers of other materials
! Observe the following when cleaning:
R Clean artificial leather covers with a cloth
moistened with a solution containing
1% detergent (e.g. dish washing liquid).
R Clean cloth covers with a microfiber
cloth moistened with a solution
containing 1% detergent (e.g. dish
washing liquid). Rub carefully and always
wipe entire seat sections to avoid leaving
visible lines. Leave the seat to dry
afterwards. Cleaning results depend on
the type of dirt and how long it has been
there.
R Clean Alcantara® covers with a damp
cloth. Make sure that you wipe entire
seat sections to avoid leaving visible
lines.
Cleaning the seat belts G
WARNING
Seat belts can become severely weakened if
bleached or dyed. This could cause the seat
belts to tear or fail, for instance, in the event
of an accident .This poses an increased risk
of injury or fatal injury.
Never bleach or dye the seat belts.
! Do not clean the seat belts using chemical
cleaning agents. Do not dry the seat belts Care

R
Only use jumper cables which have a sufficient cross-section and insulated terminal clamps.
R If the battery is fully discharged, leave the battery that is being used to jump-start connected
for a few minutes before attempting to start. This charges the battery slightly.
R Make sure that the two vehicles do not touch.
Make sure that:
R the jumper cables are not damaged.
R bare parts of the terminal clamp do not come into contact with other metal parts while the
jumper cables are connected to the battery.
R the jumper cables cannot come into contact with parts such as the V-belt pulley or the fan.
These parts move when the engine is started and while it is running.
X Apply the parking brake firmly.
X Shift the automatic transmission to position P.
X Switch off all electrical consumers (e.g. radio, blower, etc.).
X Open the hood (Y page 300). Position number
001Fidentifies the charged battery of the other vehicle or an equivalent jump-
starting device.
X Slide cover 0002of positive terminal 0003in the direction of the arrow.
X Connect positive terminal 0003on your vehicle to positive terminal 0021of donor battery 001F
using the jumper cable, beginning with your own battery.
X Start the engine of the donor vehicle and run it at idling speed.
X Connect negative terminal 0020of donor battery 001Fto ground point 001Eof your vehicle using
the jumper cable, connecting the jumper cable to battery of other vehicle 001Ffirst.
X Start the engine.
X Before disconnecting the jumper cables, let the engine run for several minutes. Jump-starting
