You should pay special attention to road
conditions when temperatures are around
freezing point.
The outside temperature display is in the
multifunction display (Y page 218).
Changes in the outside temperature are
displayed after a short delay. Speedometer with segments
The segments in the speedometer indicate
which speed range is available.
R Cruise control activated (Y page 169):
The segments light up from the stored
speed to the maximum speed.
R DISTRONIC PLUS activated (Y page 171):
One or two segments in the set speed
range light up.

The Audio ,

Tel menus differ slightly
in vehicles with an audio system and in
vehicles with COMAND .The examples given

communication equipment integrated in the
vehicle while driving, you will be distracted
from traffic conditions. You could also lose
control of the vehicle. There is a risk of an
accident.
Only operate the equipmen twhen the traffic
situation permits. If you are not sure that this
is possible, park the vehicle paying attention
to traffic conditions and operate the
equipment when the vehicle is stationary.
When telephoning, you must observe the
legal requirements for the country in which
you are currently driving. X
Switch on your mobile phone and audio
system or COMAND, see the separate
operating instructions.
X Establish a Bluetooth ®
connection to the
audio system or COMAND; see the

X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Tel menu.
You will see one of the following display
messages in the multifunction display:
R Phone READY or the name of the network
provider: the mobile phone has found a
network and is ready to receive.
R Phone No Service : there is no network
available or the mobile phone is searching
for a network.
Accepting acall If someone calls you whe

WARNING
If objects in the passenger compartment are
stowed incorrectly, they can slide or be
thrown around and hit vehicle occupants.
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the
event of sudden braking or a sudden change
in direction.
R Always stow objects so that they cannot be
thrown around in such situations.
R Always make sure that objects do not
protrude from stowage spaces, parcel nets
or stowage nets.
R Close the lockable stowage spaces while
driving.
R Stow and secure objects that are heavy,
hard, pointy, sharp-edged, fragile or too
large in the cargo compartment.

The glove box can only be locked and
unlocked using the mechanical key. X
To lock: insert the mechanical key into the
lock and turn it 90° clockwise to position

X To unlock: insert the mechanical key into
the lock and turn it 90° counter-clockwise
to position 0004.

Stowage compartment under the armrest X
To open: press left-hand button 0003or right-
hand button 0002.
The stowage compartmen topens.
i Depending on the vehicle's equipment, a
USB connection and an AUX IN connection
or a Media Interface are installed in the
stowage compartment. A Media Interface
is a universal interface for portable audio
equipment, e.g. for an iPod ®
or MP3 player

The mbrace system
To adjus
tthe volume during an mbrace call,
proceed as follows:
X Press the 0009or000A button on the
multifunction steering wheel.

X Use the volume controller of the audio
system/COMAND.
The mbrace system provides various
services, e.g.:
R automatic and manual emergency call
R Roadside Assistance call
R MB Info call

System self-test After you have switched on the ignition, the
system carries out a self-diagnosis.
Am
alfunction in the system has been
detected if one of the following occurs:
R The indicator lamp in the SO Sbutton does
not come on during the system self-test.
R The indicator lamp in the 0008Roadside
Assistance butto ndoes not light up during
self-diagnosis of the system.
R The indicator lamp in the 000AMB Info call
button does not light up during self-
diagnosis of the system.
R The indicator lamp in one or more of the
following buttons continues to light up red
after the system self-diagnosis:
- SOS button
- the 0008 Roadside Assistance call
button
- the 000A MB Info call button
R The mbrace Inoperative or
mbrace Service Not Activated message
appears in the multifunction display after
the system self-diagnosis. If a malfunction is indicated as outlined
above, the system may not operate as
expected. In the event of an emergency, help
will have to be summoned by other means.
