Sensor(s) Missing There is no signal from the tire pressure sensor of one or several
wheels. The pressure of the affected tire is not displayed in the
multifunction display.
X
Have the faulty tire pressure sensor replaced at a qualified
specialist workshop. Tire Press.
Monitor Currently
Unavailable Due to a source of radio interference, no signals can be received
from the wheel sensors. The tire pressure monitor is temporarily
malfunctioning.
X
Drive on.
The tire pressure
monitor
restarts automatically as soon as the
problem has been solved. 0077
Tire Pressure
Warning Tire
Failure The tire pressure in one or more tires has dropped suddenly.
A warning tone also sounds.
G WARNING
If you drive with a flat tire, there is a risk of the following hazards:
R A flat tire affects the ability to steer or brake the vehicle.
R You could lose control of the vehicle.
R Continued driving with
a
flat tire will cause excessive heat build-
up and possibly a fire.
There is a risk of an accident.
X Stop the vehicle without making any sudden steering or braking
maneuvers. Pay attention to
the traffic conditions as you do so.
X Secure the vehicle against rolling away ( Y page 156).
X If there is a flat tire, inspect the tires ( Y page 304).244

Point transmitter button 0083 of garage door
remote control 0084
towards the transmitter
buttons on the rear-view mirror at a
distance of 2 to 12 inches (5 to 30 cm).
i The distance between garage door
remote control 0083 and the integrated
garage door opener
depends
on the system
of the garage door drive. Several attempts
might be necessary. You should test every
position for at least 20 seconds before
trying another position.
X Keep transmitter button 0084 on garage door
remote control 0083
pressed until indicator
lamp 0043 starts to flash rapidly.
The programming has been successful if
indicator lamp 0043 flashes rapidly.
X Release transmitter buttons 0044, 0087 or 0085
on the integrated remote control and
transmitter button 0084 on the garage door
remote control.
If indicator lamp 0043 goes out after
approximately 20 seconds and has not
flashed rapidly:
X Release transmitter buttons 0044 ,
0087 or 0085
on the integrated remote control and
transmitter button 0084 on the garage door
remote control.
X Repeat the procedure for the other
transmitter buttons. When doing so, vary
the distance between the garage door's
remote control and
the
transmitter buttons
in the rear-view mirror.
i If the garage door system works with a
rolling code, you must synchronize the
remote control integrated in the rear-view
mirror with the garage door system
receiver after programming.
You will find further information in the
garage door opening system's operating
instructions, e.g. the sections on
"Synchronizing the transmitter" or
"Registering a new transmitter". You can
also call the hotline mentioned above. Synchronizing the rolling code

gate drive. Make sure
that neither your vehicle nor any persons/
objects are present within the sweep of the
door or gate.
Observe the safety notes when performing
the rolling code synchronization
(Y page 280).
X Turn the SmartKey to position
2(Y page 139) in the ignition lock.
X Press the programming button of the door
or gate drive (see the door or gate drive
operating instructions, e.g. under
"Programming of additional remote
controls").
i Usually, you now have 30 seconds to
initiate the next step.
X Press previously programmed button 0044,
0087 or

opener until the door closes.
The rolling code synchronization is then
complete.

If the indicator/warning lamps do not light up at temperatures around or below freezing point,
the discharged battery is likely to be frozen (a commonplace scenario). In this case, do not
jump-start the vehicle or recharge the battery.
Once the battery has thawed out, its service life may be dramatically reduced.
The starting characteristics can be impaired, particularly at low temperatures.
It is recommended that you have the thawed out battery checked at a qualified specialist
workshop.
Do not start
the
vehicle using a rapid charging device. If your vehicle's battery is discharged,
the engine can be jump-started from another vehicle or from a second battery using jumper
cables. Observe the following points:
R The battery is not accessible in all vehicles. If the other vehicle's battery is not accessible,
jump-start the vehicle using a second battery or a jump-starting device.
R Vehicles with a gasoline engine: only jump-start the vehicle when the engine and exhaust
system are cold.
R Do not start the engine if the battery is frozen. Let the battery thaw first.
R Jump-starting may only be performed from batteries with a nominal voltage of 12 V.
R Only use jumper cables which have a sufficient cross-section and insulated terminal clamps.
R If the battery is fully discharged, leave the battery that is being used to jump-start connected
for a few minutes before attempting to start. This charges the empty battery a little.
R Make sure that the two vehicles do not touch.
Make sure that:
R the jumper leads are not damaged.
R when the jumper cables are connected to the battery, uninsulated sections of the terminal
clamp do not come into contact with other metal sections.
R The jumper cables cannot come into contact with parts such as the pulley or the fan. These
parts move when the engine is started and while it is running.
X Apply the parking brake.
X Move the selector lever to position P.
X Switch off all electrical consumers (e.g. radio, blower, etc.).
X Open the hood (Y page 289). Jump-starting

Checking tire pressure electronically X
Make sure that the SmartKey is in
position 2 (Y page 139) in
the ignition lock.
X Press the 0059 or 0065 button on the
steering wheel to select the Serv. menu.
X Press the 0063 or 0064 button to select
Tire Pressure.
X Press button 0076.
The current tire pressure
for each wheel will
be displayed in the multifunction display.
If the vehicle has been parked for over
20 minutes, the message Tire pressure will be displayed after driving a
few minutes appears.
After a teach-in period, the tire pressure
monitor automatically recognizes
new
wheels
or new sensors. As long as a clear allocation
of the tire pressure values to the individual
wheels is not possible, the Tire Pressure
Monitor Active display message is shown
instead of the tire pressure display. The tire
pressures are already being monitored.
i If a spare wheel is mounted, the system
may continue to show the tire pressure of
the wheel that has been removed for a few
minutes. If this occurs, note that the value
displayed for the position where the spare
wheel is mounted is not the same as the
spare wheel's current tire pressure.
Tire pressure monitor warning
messages If the tire pressure monitor detects a
significant pressure loss
on
one or more tires,
a warning message is shown in the
multifunction display. A warning tone also
sounds and the tire pressure warning lamp
lights up in the instrument cluster.
Each tire that is affected by a significant loss
of pressure is highlighted in the pressure
display.
X If the Correct Tire PressureCorrect
Tire Pressure message appears in the
multifunction display, check the tire
pressure on all four
wheels and correct it if
necessary.
i If the wheel positions on the vehicle are
interchanged, the tire pressures may be
displayed for the wrong positions for a
short time. This is rectified after a few
minutes of driving, and the tire pressures
are displayed for the correct positions.
Restarting the tire pressure monitor When you restart the tire pressure monitor,
all existing warning
messages
are deleted and
the warning lamps go out. The monitor uses Tire pressure
