Instrumen tcluster Selecting the unit of measurement for
distance
The
Display Unit Speed-/Odometer: function allows you to choose whether
certain displays appear in kilometers or miles
in the multifunction display.
You can determine whether the multifunction
display shows some messages in miles or
kilometers.
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to selec tthe Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Instr. Cluster submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Display Unit Speed-/Odometer: function.
You will see the selected setting:
km or
miles .
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.
The selected unit of measurement for
distance applies to:
R the digital speedometer in the Trip menu
R the odometer and the trip odometer
R the trip computer
R current consumption and the range
R the navigation instructions in the Navimenu
R cruise control

R ASSYST PLUS service interval display Selecting the permanent display function
You can determine whether the multifunction
display permanently shows your speed or the
outside temperature.
X
Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Instr. Cluster submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Permanent Display: function.
You will see the selected setting Outside Temperature or
Speedometer [km/h] (USA)/Speedometer [mph] (Canada).
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.
i The speed is shown in km/h (USA)/mph
(Canada).
Lights Switching the daytime running lamps on/
off
Daytime running lamps are required by law
(Canada only). You cannot set the "daytime
running lamps" function via the on-board
computer.
X
Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Lights submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Day Lights function.
If the Day Lights function has been
switched on, the cone of light and the
0004 symbol in the multifunction display
are shown in red.
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.

Upshift indicator
0021 Engine oil temperature
001F Coolant temperature
Upshift indicator UP 0022
indicates that the
engine has reached the overrevving range
when in the manual gearshift program.
Upshift indicator UP 0022
fades out other
messages until you have shifted up.
If the engine oil temperature is below 176 ‡
(80 †) the oil temperature is shown in blue.
Avoid driving at full engine output during this
time.
SETUP SETUP shows the drive program, the ESP
®
(Electronic Stability Program) mode and the
SPORT handling mode.
X Press 0002or0005 on the steering wheel
to select the AMG menu.
X Press the 0003button repeatedly until
SETUP is displayed. 0002

RACETIMER Displaying and starting RACETIMER
The RACETIMER is only intended for use on a
closed race circuit. Do not use the function
on public roads.
You can use the RACETIMER to store lap
times. X
Press 0002or0005 on the steering wheel
to select the AMG menu.
X Press the 0003button repeatedly until the
RACETIMER is shown.
i If the RACETIMER is selected, the 0002
and 0005 buttons cannot be used to call up
the menu bar. 0002
Lap
0003 RACETIMER
You can start the RACETIMER when the
engine is running or if the SmartKey is in
position 2in the ignition lock.
X To start: press the 000Bbutton to start the
RACETIMER.
Displaying the intermediate time X
Press the 0002or0005 button to select
Interm. Time .
X Press 000Bto confirm.
The intermediate time is displayed for five
seconds.

Brake is temporarily inoperative. Possible causes are:
R function is impaired due to heavy rain or snow.
R the sensors in the radiato rgrill and the bumper are dirty.
R the rada rsensor system is temporarily inoperative, e.g. due to
electromagnetic radiation emitted by nearby TV or radio
stations or other sources of electromagnetic radiation.
R AMG vehicles: ESP ®
is deactivated.
R the system is outside the operating temperature range.
R the on-board voltage is too low.
When the causes stated above no longer apply, the display
message disappears.
PRE-SAFE ®
Brake is operational again.
If the display message does not disappear:
X Pull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible, paying
attention to road and traffic conditions.
X Secure the vehicle against rolling away (Y page 158).
X Clean the sensors in the radiator grill and the bumper
(Y page 291).
X Restart the engine.
X AMG vehicles: reactivate ESP ®

SRS Malfunction
Service Required There is a malfunction in the SRS (Supplemental Restraint
System). The
001Ewarning lamp also lights up in the instrument
cluster.
G WARNING
The air bags or Emergency Tensioning Devices may either be
triggered unintentionally or, in the event of an accident, may not
be triggered.
There is an increased risk of injury.
X Visit a qualified specialist workshop.

cooling system. The engine will otherwise be damaged.

X If coolant needs to be added more often than usual, have the
engine coolant system checked at a qualified specialist
workshop. 000C The fan motor is faulty.

At coolant temperatures below 248 ‡ (120 †) drive to the
neares tqualified specialist workshop.
X Avoid subjecting the engin eto heavy loads, e.g. driving in
mountainous terrain, and stop-and-go traffic. 000C

Do no tdrive when youre ngine is overheated. Thi scan cause some
fluids which may have leaked into the engine compartmen tto
catch fire.
Stea mfrom the overheated engine can also cause serious burns
which can occur just by opening the hood.
There is a risk of injury.
X Pull over and stop the vehicle safely and switch off the engine,
paying attention to road and traffic conditions.
X Secure the vehicle against rolling away (Y page 158).
X Waitu ntil the engine has cooled down.
X Make sure tha tthe air supply to the engine radiator is not
blocked, e.g. by snow, slush or ice.
X Do not start the engine again until the display message goes out
and the coolant temperature is below 248 ‡ (120 †).
Otherwise, the engine could be damaged.
X Pay attention to the coolant temperature display.
X If the temperature increases again, visit a qualified specialist
workshop immediately.
Under normal operating conditions and with the specified coolant
level, the coolant temperature may rise to 248 ‡ (120 †). 228

paying attention to road and traffic conditions. Do not continue
driving under any circumstances.
