1-7. Safety information

Before driving
GX460_OM_OM60J63U_(U)Your vehicle is equipped with ADVANCED AIRBAGS designed based
on the US motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS208). The airbag sen-
sor assembly (ECU) controls airbag
deployment based on information
obtained from the sensors etc. shown in the system components diagram
above. This information includes crash severity and occupant informa-
tion. As the airbags deploy, a chemical reaction in the inflators quickly fills
the airbags with non-toxic gas to help restrain the motion of the occu-
pants.
■SRS warning light
This warning light system monitors the airbag sensor assembly, front airbag sensors,
side and curtain shield airbag sensors, rear side and curtain shield airbag sensors,
floor sensor, driver’s seat belt buckle switch, front passenger occupant classification
system (ECU and sensors), “AIR BAG ON” indicator light, “AIR BAG OFF” indica-
tor light, the “RSCA OFF” indicator light, front passenger’s seat belt buckle switch,
seat belt pretensioner assemblies, airbags, interconnecting wiring and power
sources. ( →P. 1 2 6 )

Sensors that operate
■ Detection range of the sensors
Approximately 3.3 ft. (100 cm)
Approximately 4.9 ft. (150 cm)
Approximately 2.0 ft. (60 cm)
Approximately 1.8 ft. (55 cm)
The diagram shows the detection
range of the sensors. Note that the
sensors may not be able to detect
obstacles that are extremely close
to the vehicle.
The range of the sensors may
change depending on the shape of
the object etc.
