Hybrid vehicle driving tips
Using Eco drive mode
When using Eco drive mode, the torque corresponding to the
accelerator pedal depression amount can be generated more
smoothly than it is in normal conditions. In addition, the opera-
tion of the air conditioning system (heating/cooling) will be min-
imized, improving the fuel economy. (P. 392)
Use of Hybrid System Indicator
The Eco-friendly driving is possible by keeping the indicate of
Hybrid System Indicator within Eco area. (P. 126)
When braking the vehicle
Make sure to operate the brakes gently and in good time. A
greater amount of electrical energy can be retained when slowing
down.
Delays
Repeated acceleration and deceleration, as well as long waits at
traffic lights, will lead to bad fuel consumption. Check traffic
reports before leaving and avoid delays as much as possible.
When encountering a delay, gently release the brake pedal to
allow the vehicle to move forward slightly while avoiding over-
use of the accelerator pedal. Doing so can help control excessive
gasoline consumption.
Highway driving
Control your speed and keep at a constant speed. Also, before
stopping at a toll booth or similar, allow plenty of time to release

Speech command system
Commands that are not displayed in the “Shortcuts” screen can be operated
from the “Main menu” screen.
If the system does not respond or the confirmation screen does not disap-
pear, press and try again.
Speech guidance can be canceled by setting voice prompts to off. Use this
setting when it is desirable to say a command immediately after pressing
and hearing a beep.
If a speech command cannot be recognized
If a speech command cannot be recognized within 6 seconds, voice guid-
ance will say “Pardon?” (“Command not recognized.” will be displayed on
the screen) and speech command reception will restart.
If a speech command cannot be recognized 2 consecutive times, the speech
command guidance system will say “Paused. To restart voice recognition,
push the talk switch. To cancel voice recognition, push and hold the talk
switch.” Then voice recognition will be suspended.
When selecting “Voice Prompts”
The voice recognition prompt can be set to on or off. This setting can also
be changed on the “Voice settings” screen. (P. 467)
Voice recognition will be temporarily suspended. Press again.

Registering air conditioning settings to electronic keys
Unlocking the vehicle using an electronic key and turning the power switch
to ON mode will recall that key’s registered air conditioning settings.
When the power switch is turned off, the current air conditioning settings
will automatically be registered to the electronic key that was used to
unlock the vehicle.
The system may not operate correctly if more than one electronic key is in
the vicinity or if the smart entry & start system is used to unlock a passenger
door.
Settings for the electronic key and the corresponding door can be changed.
Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified
and equipped professional.
Using automatic mode
Fan speed is adjusted automatically according to the temperature setting and
the ambient conditions.
Therefore, the fan may stop for a while until warm or cool air is ready to flow
immediately after is pressed.
Humidity sensor
Fogging up of the windows
The windows will easily fog up when the humidity in the vehicle is high.
Selecting on will dehumidify the air from the outlets and defog the
windshield effectively.
If you turn off, the windows may fog up more easily. A sensor, which detects humidity inside
the vehicle and the temperature of the
windshield, is provided to detect fog on
the front windscreen. Due to the sensor,
when automatic mode is set the air condi-
tioning may make the following controls:
Changing the amount of air flow
Changing the amount of air introduced
from outside when in outside air mode

Entering a language code
If you select “Other” on the “Audio language” screen, “Subtitle
language” screen or “Menu language” screen you can select a
language by entering the 4-digit language code if that language is
available.
Input the 4-digit language
code and then select “OK”.

Connecting Bluetooth® audio player
Selecting “Connect portable player” on the “Bluetooth*” screen also con-
nects a Bluetooth® audio player. (P. 679)
When none of the selectable portable players have been registered, a screen
confirming registration is displayed. The registration method is the same as
phone registration. (P. 672)
When the currently connected portable player is selected, a screen confirm-
ing the selected player’s disconnection is displayed. (P. 672)
If connection fails once, a changing connection method confirmation screen
is displayed. If connection fails 2 or more times, a message will be dis-
played. When this message is displayed, try again.

When using the Bluetooth® audio system
In the following conditions, the system may not function.
• The portable player is turned off
• The portable player is not connected
• The portable player battery is low
There may be a delay if phone connection is carried out during Bluetooth®
audio play.
Depending on the type of portable player that is connected to the system,
operation may differ slightly and certain functions may not be available.
Bluetooth® antenna
The antenna is built into the instrument panel. If the portable player is behind
the seat or in the glove box or console box, or is touching or covered by
metal objects, connection status may deteriorate.
Battery charge/signal status
This display may not correspond exactly with the portable player, and this
system does not have a charging function.

• A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) Ver. 1.0 or higher
(Recommended: Ver. 1.2 or higher)
• AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) Ver. 1.0 or higher
(Recommended: Ver. 1.4 or higher)
However, please note that some functions may be limited depending on the
type of portable player. Also, the different screen is displayed depending on
which portable player is connecting.

Reconnecting the portable player
If the portable player is disconnected with a poor reception when the power
switch is in ACCESSORY or ON mode, the system automatically reconnects
the portable player.
If you have switched off the portable player yourself, follow the instructions
below to reconnect:

Enter the portable player
When transferring ownership of your vehicle
