Impact sensing door unlock sys- tem
All doors will be automatically unlocked after an impact causes the air bags to
deploy.Speed sensing door lock system (if equipped)
Type A
All doors will be automatically locked
after the vehicle speed exceeds 40 km/h.
Type B
All doors will be automatically locked
after the vehicle speed exceeds 15 km/h. And all doors will be automatically
unlocked when you turn the engine off or

TRUNK
Opening the trunk
To open the trunk, press the trunk unlock button on the transmitter for
more than 1 second (or smart key).
To open the trunk from inside the vehi- cle, pull the trunk lid release lever.
If the trunk is unlocked, it can be opened by pulling the handle up.
Once the trunk is opened and then closed, the trunk is locked automatical-
ly.
✽✽ NOTICE
In cold and wet climates, door lock and
door mechanisms may not work proper-
ly due to freezing conditions.Closing the trunk
To close the trunk, lower and push down
the trunk lid until it locks. To be sure the
trunk lid is securely fastened, always
check by trying to pull it up again.
WARNING
The trunk lid should be always kept
completely closed while the vehicle
is in motion. If it is left open or ajar,
poisonous exhaust gases mayenter the car and serious illness or
death may result.

Make certain that you close the trunk before driving your vehicle.
Possible damage may occur to thetrunk lift cylinders and attachedhardware if the trunk is not closedprior to driving.
WARNING
The trunk swings upward. Make sure no objects or people are near
the rear of the vehicle when open-ing the trunk.

Power windows
The ignition switch must be in the ON
position for power windows to operate.
Each door has a power window switch
that controls the door's window. The
power windows can be operated for
approximately 30 seconds after the igni-
tion key is removed or turned to the ACC
or LOCK position. However, if the front
doors are opened, the power windows
cannot be operated within the 30 second
period after ignition key removal, or
turned to the ACC or LOCK position.
✽✽NOTICE
While driving with the sunroof in an
open (or partially open) position, yourvehicle may demonstrate a wind buffet-
ing or pulsation noise. This noise is a
normal occurrence and can be reduced
or eliminated by slightly reducing the
size of the sunroof opening.
Window opening and closing
The driver’s door has a master power
window switch that controls all the win-
dows in the vehicle.
To open or close a window, press down
or pull up the front portion of the corre-
sponding switch to the first detent posi-tion (3).
Auto up/down window
Depressing or pulling up the power win-
dow switch momentarily to the second
detent position (4) completely lowers or
lifts the window even when the switch is
released. To stop the window at the
desired position while the window is in
operation, pull up or depress and release
the switch to the opposite direction of the
movement.

CAUTION
To prevent possible damage tothe power window system, do not
open or close two windows ormore at the same time. This willalso ensure the longevity of the fuse.
Never try to operate the main switch on the driver's door andthe individual door window switch in opposing directions at
the same time. If this is done, thewindow will stop and cannot beopened or closed.WARNING - Windows
NEVER leave the ignition key in the vehicle.
NEVER leave any child unattend- ed in the vehicle. Even very
young children may inadvertently
cause the vehicle to move, entan-
gle themselves in the windows,or otherwise injure themselves or
others.
Always double check to make sure all arms, hands, head and
other obstructions are safely out
of the way before closing a win-
dow.
Do not allow children to play with the power windows. Serious
injury can result from uninten-
tional window operation by the
child.
Do not extend a face or arms out- side through the window whiledriving.

Folding the outside rearview mir-
ror
To fold the outside rearview mirror, press
the button.
To unfold it, press the button again.
The ignition switch must be in the ON
position for the electric outside rearview
mirrors to fold. The electric folding outside rearview mir-
ror can be operated for approximately 30
seconds after the ignition key is removed
or turned to the LOCK position.
CAUTION
In case of the electric type of out-
side rearview mirror, don’t fold it by
hand. It could cause the failure ofthe motor.

User Settings Mode (Only for Type Bcluster, if equipped)
1. Stop the vehicle with the ignition switch in the ON position or engine
running.
2. Press the TRIP button until the User setting is displayed.
3. With the User setting displayed, press the TRIP button for 2 seconds.
4. You can change the item by pressing the TRIP button and select an item by
pressing the RESET button.
Auto Door Lock
Off - The auto door lock operation will be canceled.
Speed - All doors will be automatically locked when the vehicle speed
exceeds 15km/h (9.3mph).
Shift Lever - All doors will be automati- cally locked if the shift lever
is shifted from the P (Park)
position to the R (Reverse),
N (Neutral) or D (Drive)
position. (for automatic
transaxle)
Speed or Shift Lever - All doors will be automatically locked if One or
more of the above two condi-
tions are satisfied. (for auto-
matic transaxle)
Auto Door Unlock
Off - The auto door unlock operation will be canceled.

The notice appears to inform the driver to
turn on the fuse switch in the instrument
panel under the steering wheel.
For more details, refer to “Fuses” in sec- tion 7.
If the engine start/stop button changes to
the OFF position when the smart key in
the vehicle discharges, the warning illu-
minates on the LCD display for about 10
seconds. Also, the warning chime
sounds once.
Replace the battery with a new one.
(for automatic transaxle, if equipped)
If the engine start/stop button changes to
the ACC position twice by pressing the
button repeatedly without depressing the
brake pedal, the warning illuminates on
the LCD display for about 10 seconds to
indicate that you should depress the
brake pedal to start the engine.

When the stop lamp switch fuse is dis-
connected, the warning illuminates for 10
seconds on the LCD display.
Replace the fuse with a new one. If that
is not possible you can start the engine
by pressing the engine start/stop button
for 10 seconds in ACC.
If the smart key is not in the vehicle and
if any door is opened or closed with the
ENGINE START/STOP button in the
ACC, ON, or START position, the warn-
ing illuminates on the LCD display. Also,
the chime sounds for 5 seconds when
the smart key is not in the vehicle and thedoor is closed.
Always have the smart key with you.
If the smart key is not in the vehicle or is
not detected and you press the ENGINE
START/STOP button, the warning illumi-
nates on the LCD display for 10 seconds.
Also, the immobilizer indicator and the
key holder light blinks for 10 seconds.
