Note:Fully defrost the windshield beforeswitching on the windshield wipers.
Note:Make sure the windshield wipers areswitched off before entering a car wash.
Note:Install new wiper blades as soon asthey begin to leave bands of water andsmears on the windshield.
Note:Do not operate the wipers on a drywindshield. This may scratch the glass,damage the wiper blades or cause the wipermotor to burn out. Always use thewindshield washers before wiping a drywindshield.

Use the rotary control to adjust theintermittent wipe interval.
Speed Dependent Wipers
When your vehicle speed increases, theinterval between wipes will decrease.
AUTOWIPERS
Note:Fully defrost the windshield beforeswitching on the windshield wipers.
Note:Make sure the windshield wipers areswitched off before entering a car wash.
Note:Clean the windshield and wiperblades if they begin to leave streaks orsmears. If that does not resolve the issue,install new wiper blades.
Note:If you switch autolamps on inconjunction with autowipers, low beamheadlamps will illuminate automaticallywhen the rain sensor activates thewindshield wipers continuously.
Wet or winter driving conditions with ice,snow or salty road mist can causeinconsistent and unexpected wiping orsmearing.

•Lower the sensitivity of the autowipers.
•Change the wiper speed to normal orhigh speed wipe as necessary.
•Switch the autowipers off.

The wipers will function when water isdetected on the windshield. The rainsensor will continue to monitor the amountof water on the windshield and adjust thespeed of the wipers automatically. Thisfeature can be switched on or off in theinformation display. See GeneralInformation (page 63).
Note:When you switch this feature off, thewipers will return to the variable intermittentsetting based on the sensitivity you haveset.
Use the rotary control to adjust thesensitivity of the rain sensor. On minimumautowipe, the wipers will operate when thesensor detects a large amount of water onthe windshield. On maximum autowipe,the wipers will operate when the sensordetects a small amount of water on thewindshield.
Keep the outside of the windshield clean.Sensor performance will be affected if thearea around the interior mirror is dirty. Therain sensor is very sensitive and the wipersmay operate if dirt, mist or flies hit thewindshield.
WINDSHIELD WASHERS
Note:Do not operate the washers whenthe washer reservoir is empty. This maycause the washer pump to overheat.
Push the button to operate the washers.When you release the button, the wiperswill operate for a short time.

The rear wiper will turn on automaticallywhen selecting reverse gear if:
•the rear wiper is not already switchedon
•the wiper lever is in position A, B, C orD
•the front wiper is operating (when setto position B).
Rear Window Washer
Note:Do not operate the washers whenthe washer reservoir is empty. This maycause the washer pump to overheat.
Pull the lever toward you to operate thewashers. They will operate for a maximumof 10 seconds. When you release the lever,the wiper will operate for a short time.

Pull the lever fully toward you to switchthe high beams on.
Push the lever forward to switch the highbeams off.
Headlamp Flasher
Pull the lever toward you slightly andrelease it to flash the headlamps.
AUTOLAMPS
Note:It may be necessary to switch yourheadlamps on manually in severe weatherconditions.
Note:If you have autolamps on, you canonly switch the high beam on onceautolamps has switched the headlamps on.
Note:If you have autolamps on, you canonly switch the front fog lamps on onceautolamps has switched the headlamps on.
The headlamps will switch on and offautomatically in low light situations orduring inclement weather.
The headlamps will remain on for a periodof time after you switch the ignition off.You can adjust the time delay using theinformation display controls. SeeInformation Displays (page 63).
Note:If you switch autolamps on inconjunction with autowipers, low beamheadlamps will illuminate automaticallywhen the rain sensor turns on the windshieldwipers continuously.

WARNINGS
If you use a car wash with a waxingcycle, make sure that you remove thewax from the windshield.
Prior to using a car wash facilitycheck the suitability of it for yourvehicle.
Some car wash installations usewater at high pressure. This coulddamage certain parts of your vehicle.
Remove the aerial before using anautomatic car wash.
Switch the heater blower off toprevent contamination of the freshair filter.
We recommend that you wash your vehiclewith a sponge and lukewarm watercontaining a car shampoo.
Cleaning the Headlamps
WARNINGS
Do not scrape the headlamp lensesor use abrasives, alcoholic solventsor chemical solvents to clean them.
Do not wipe the headlamps whenthey are dry.
Cleaning the Rear Window
WARNING
Do not scrape the inside of the rearwindow or use abrasives or chemicalsolvents to clean it.
Use a clean, lint free cloth or a dampchamois leather to clean the inside of therear window.
Cleaning the Chrome Trim
WARNINGS
Do not use abrasives or chemicalsolvents. Use soapy water.
Do not apply cleaning product to hotsurfaces and do not leave cleaningproduct on chrome surfaces for aperiod of time exceeding that which isrecommended.
Industrial-strength (heavy-duty)cleaners, or cleaning chemicals, maycause damage over a period of time.
Body Paintwork Preservation
WARNINGS
Do not polish your vehicle in strongsunshine.
Do not allow polish to touch plasticsurfaces. It could be difficult toremove.
Do not apply polish to the windshieldor rear window. This could cause thewipers to become noisy and theymay not clear the window properly.
We recommend that you wax thepaintwork once or twice a year.
CLEANING THE INTERIOR
Note:Do not allow air fresheners and handsanitizers to spill on interior surfaces. If aspill occurs, wipe off immediately. Damagemay not be covered by your warranty.

Do not use abrasives, or chemicalsolvents to clean them.
