Power Door Locks
•Press the button once. The doors willlock.
•Press the button again. The doors willunlock.

Remote Control
The remote control can be used any timeyour vehicle is not running.
Unlocking the Doors
Note:You can unlock the driver's door withthe key. Use the key when the remotecontrol is not functioning.
Note:When you lock your vehicle forseveral weeks, the remote control will beswitched off. Your vehicle must be unlockedand the engine started using the key.Unlocking and starting your vehicle once willenable the remote control.
Press the button to unlock thedriver’s door.
Press the button again withinthree seconds to unlock all doors. Thedirection indicators will flash.
Reprogramming the UnlockingFunction
You can reprogram the unlocking functionso that only the driver’s door is unlocked.See Remote Control (page 26).
Locking the Doors
Press the button to lock all thedoors. The turn signals willilluminate.
Press the button again within threeseconds to confirm that all the doors areclosed. The doors will lock again, and theturn signals will illuminate if all the doorsand the luggage compartment are closed.
Note:If any door or the luggagecompartment is not closed, or if the hood isnot closed on vehicles equipped with ananti-theft alarm or remote start, the lampswill not flash.
Double Locking
WARNING
Do not use double locking whenpassengers or animals are inside yourvehicle. You will not be able tounlock the doors from the inside if you havedouble locked them.
Double locking is a theft protection featurethat prevents someone from opening thedoors from the inside. You can only doublelock the doors if they are all closed.
Press the button twice withinthree seconds.
Automatic Relocking
The doors will relock automatically if youdo not open a door within 45 seconds ofunlocking the doors with the remotecontrol. The door locks and the alarm willreturn to their previous state.

Once armed, the alarm is triggered in anyof the following ways:
•If someone opens a door, the liftgateor the hood without a valid key orremote control.
•If someone removes the audio ornavigation system.
•If you switch the ignition on without avalid key.
•If the interior sensors detect movementwithin your vehicle.
•On vehicles with a battery back-upsounder, if someone disconnects yourvehicle battery or the battery back-upsounder itself.
If the alarm is triggered, the alarm horn willsound for 30 seconds and the hazardwarning flasher will flash for five minutes.
Any further attempts to perform one of theabove will trigger the alarm again.
Full and Reduced Guard
Full Guard
Full guard is the standard setting.
In full guard, the interior sensors are onwhen you arm the alarm.
Note:This may result in false alarms ifanimals or moving objects are inside yourvehicle.
Reduced Guard
In reduced guard, the interior sensors areoff when you arm the alarm.
Note:You can set the alarm to reducedguard for the current ignition cycle only. Thealarm will reset to full guard the next timeyou switch the ignition on.
Ask on Exit (If Equipped)
You can set the information display to askyou each time which level of guard youwish to set.
If you select Ask on Exit, the messageReduced guard? appears in theinformation display each time you switchthe ignition off. See InformationMessages (page 67).
If you wish to arm the alarm with reducedguard, press the OK button when thismessage appears.
If you wish to arm the alarm with full guard,leave your vehicle without pressing the OKbutton.
Selecting Full or Reduced Guard
Note:Selecting Reduced does not set thealarm permanently to reduced guard. It setsit to reduced guard only for the currentignition cycle. If you regularly set the alarmto reduced guard, select Ask on Exit.
You can select full or reduced guard usingthe information display. See GeneralInformation (page 67).
Arming the Alarm
To arm the alarm, lock your vehicle. SeeLocks (page 34).
Disarming the Alarm
Vehicles Without Keyless Entry
Perimeter Alarm
Disarm and silence the alarm by unlockingthe doors with the key and switching theignition on with a correctly coded key orunlocking the doors with the remotecontrol.

When a warning lamp or indicator does notilluminate once you have switched theignition on, it indicates a malfunction. Havethe system checked by an authorizeddealer.
Anti-Lock Brake System WarningLamp
If it illuminates when you aredriving, this indicates amalfunction. Your vehicle willcontinue to have normal braking withoutAnti-lock brake system function.
Brake System Warning Lamp
It will illuminate when youengage the parking brake andthe ignition is on.
WARNING
Reduce your speed gradually andstop your vehicle as soon as it is safeto do so. Use your brakes with care.
If it illuminates when your vehicle ismoving, make sure the parking brake isdisengaged. If the parking brake isdisengaged, this indicates low brake fluidlevel or a brake system malfunction. Havethe system checked by an authorizeddealer immediately.
Coolant Temperature WarningLamp
WARNING
Do not resume your journey if itilluminates despite the level beingcorrect. Have the system checked bya an authorized dealer immediately.
If it illuminates when you aredriving, this indicates amalfunction. Stop your vehicleas soon as it is safe to do so and switch theengine off. Check the coolant level. SeeEngine Coolant Check (page 158).
Cruise Control Indicator
It will illuminate when you haveset a speed using the cruisecontrol system. See UsingCruise Control (page 117).
Direction Indicator Warning Lamp
Flashes during operation. Asudden increase in the rate offlashing warns of a failedindicator bulb. See Changing a Bulb(page 162).
Door Ajar Warning Lamp
It will illuminate when you switchthe ignition on and remains on ifany door or the hood is open.

If either lamp illuminates when the engineis running, this indicates a malfunction. Theengine will continue to run but it may havelimited power. If it flashes when you aredriving, reduce the speed of your vehicleimmediately. If it continues to flash, avoidheavy acceleration or deceleration. Havethe system checked by an authorizeddealer immediately.

Note:For vehicles with start-stop thebattery requirement is different. It must bereplaced by one of exactly the samespecification as the original.
The system reduces fuel consumption andCO2 emissions by shutting down theengine when your vehicle is idling, forexample at traffic lights. The engine willautomatically restart when you press theclutch pedal or when required by a vehiclesystem, for example to recharge thebattery.
To obtain maximum benefit from thesystem, move the transmission selectorlever to neutral and release the clutchpedal during any stop of longer than threeseconds.
Using Start-Stop
WARNINGS
The engine may restartautomatically if required by thesystem.
Switch the ignition off beforeopening the hood or carrying out anymaintenance.
Always switch the ignition off beforeleaving your vehicle, as the systemmay have shut down the engine butthe ignition will still be live.
Note:The system only operates when theengine is warm and the outside temperatureis between 32°F (0°C) and 86°F (30°C).
Note:If you stall the engine, and thendepress the clutch pedal within a shortperiod of time, the system will automaticallyrestart the engine.
Note:The start-stop indicator willilluminate green when the engine shutsdown. See Warning Lamps and Indicators(page 58).
Note:When the start-stop indicator flashesamber, move the transmission selector leverto neutral or depress the clutch pedal.
Note:If the system detects a malfunction,it will switch off. Have your vehicle checkedby an authorized dealer.
Note:When you switch the system off, theswitch will illuminate.
Note:The system automatically turns onevery time you switch the ignition on. Toswitch the system off, press the switch inthe instrument panel. The system will onlybe switched off for the current ignition cycle.To turn it on, press the switch again. For itemlocation: See At a Glance (page 9).
To Stop the Engine
1.Stop your vehicle.
2.Move the transmission selector leverto neutral.
3.Release the clutch pedal.
4.Release the accelerator pedal.
The system may not shut down the engineunder certain conditions, for example:
•To maintain the interior climate.
•Low battery voltage.
•The outside temperature is too low ortoo high.
•The driver's door has been opened.
•Low engine operating temperature.
•Low brake system vacuum.
•If a road speed of 3 mph (5 km/h) hasnot been exceeded.
•The driver's safety belt has not beenfastened.
