GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
If, when the key is turned to
M, the ¬warning light does
not switch on or stays on whilst dri-
ving, a fault may have occurred in the
restraint systems. In this case the
airbags or pretensioners may not be
deployed in an impact or, in a lower
number of cases, they may be de-
ployed accidentally. Before continu-
ing, contact a Fiat Dealership imme-
diately to have the system checked.
WARNING
For versions/markets where
provided, if warning lights ¬and “stay on constantly contact a
Fiat Dealership for immediate check
of the system.
WARNING
IMPORTANT Do not wash the seats with
water or pressurised steam (by hand or at
automatic seat washing stations).
IMPORTANT The front airbags and/or
side bags may be deployed if the car is sub-
ject to violent impacts involving the un-
derbody area (e.g. violent impacts against
steps or kerbs, big holes or dips in the
road, etc.).
IMPORTANT When the airbag deploys it
emits a small amount of dust. The dust is
not harmful and does not indicate the be-
ginning of a fire. Furthermore, the surface
of the deployed bag and the interior of the
vehicle may be covered with a dusty
residue: this may irritate your skin and
eyes. Wash with mild soap and water in
the event of exposure.
IMPORTANT Airbag checking, repair and
replacement must be carried out at a Fi-
at Dealership.
IMPORTANT If the vehicle is scrapped,
have the airbag system deactivated at a Fi-
at Dealership.IMPORTANT Pretensioners, front airbags
and front side bags are deployed in differ-
ent ways, according to the type of impact.
Failure to deploy of one or more of the
devices does not indicate a system mal-
function.
Warning light ¬flashes to in-
dicate a failure of the “warning light: in this case, the py-
rotechnic charges of the passenger
airbag are deactivated (for versions/
markets, where provided). Contact a
Fiat Dealership immediately to have
the system checked.
WARNING
When the ignition key is
turned to MAR-ON, the
warning light
“(with front passenger
airbag active) switches on and flashes
for a few seconds to remind you that
the passenger airbag will be deployed
in an impact, after which it should
switch off.
WARNING
Do not cover the backrest of
the front seats with covers or
upholstery that are not suitable for use
with side bags.

MAINTENANCE
Fabric upholstery of your ve-
hicle is purpose-made to
withstand common wear re-
sulting from normal use of the
vehicle. It is however absolutely neces-
sary to prevent hard and/or prolonged
scratching/scraping caused by clothing
accessories like metallic buckles, studs,
“Velcro” fixings, etc. that stressing lo-
cally the fabric could break yarns and
damage the upholstery as a conse-
quence. CLEANING SEATS
AND FABRICS
Remove dust with a soft brush and vacu-
um cleaner. For velvet seats use a damp
brush.
Rub the seats with a sponge moistened
with a solution of water and neutral de-
tergent.Never use flammable prod-
ucts like oil ether or rectified
petrol for cleaning vehicle interiors.
Electrostatic discharges generated by
rubbing during cleaning operations
could cause fire.
WARNING
Do not keep aerosol cans in
the vehicle: they might ex-
plode. Aerosol cans must never be ex-
posed to a temperature above 50° C.
The temperature inside the vehicle
exposed to the sun may go well be-
yond that figure.
WARNING
INTERIORS
Periodically check that water is not trapped
under the mats (due to water dripping off
shoes, umbrellas, etc.) which could cause
oxidisation of the sheet metal.STEERING WHEEL/GEAR LEVER
KNOB WITH GENUINE
LEATHER COVERING
These components shall only be cleaned
with water and neutral soap.
Never use spirit or alcohol-based prod-
ucts.
Before using special products for clean-
ing interiors, read carefully label instruc-
tions and indications to make sure they
are free from spirit and/or alcohol-based
substances.
If when cleaning the windscreen with spe-
cial glass products, some drops fall on the
leather covering of the steering wheel/gear
lever knob remove them immediately and
then clean with water and neutral soap.
IMPORTANT Take the utmost care when
engaging the steering lock to prevent
scratching the leather covering.
INTERIOR PLASTIC PARTS
For routine cleaning of interior plastic parts
use a soft cloth moistened with water and
neutral soap. Remove grease or persisting
stains using appropriate solvent-free prod-
ucts designed to preserve appearance and
colour of plastic components.
IMPORTANT Never use spirit or petro-
leum to clean the instrument panel.
