Airbags
System designed to maximise the safety of the
occupants (with the exception of the rear centrepassenger) in the event of violent collisions.
The airbags supplement the action of the force-
limiting seat belts (with the exception of the centre rear passenger).
If a collision occurs, the electronic detectors
record and analyse the front and side impacts sustained in the impact detection zones:
- in the case of a serious impact, the airbagsare deployed instantly and contribute
towards better protection of the occupants
of the vehicle
(with the exception of the rear centre passenger); immediately after the
impact, the airbags deflate rapidly so that
they do not hinder visibility or the exit of the
occupants,
- in the case of a minor or rear impact
or in cer tain roll-over conditions, the
airbags will not be deployed; the seat belt
alone contributes towards ensuring your protection in these situations.
The airbags do not operate when the ignition is switched off.
This equipment will only deploy once.
If a second impact occurs (during thesame or a subsequent accident), the airbag will not be deployed again.
Deployment of the airbag(s) isaccompanied by a slight emissionof smoke and a noise, due to the activation of the pyrotechnic car tridge incorporated in the system.
This smoke is not harmful, but sensitive individuals may experience slightirritation.
The noise of the detonation may result in a slight loss of hearing for a shor t time.

Safety
Sit in a normal upright position. Wear a correctly adjusted seat belt. Do not leave anything between theoccupants and the airbags (a child, pet,object...). This could hamper the operation of
the airbags or injure the occupants. After an accident or if the vehicle has beenstolen or broken into, have the airbagsystems checked. All work on the airbag system must be carried out by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Even if all of the precautions mentioned are obser ved, a risk of injury or of minor burns to the head, chest or arms when an airbag is deployed cannot be ruled out. Thebag inflates almost instantly (within a few milliseconds) then deflates within the sametime discharging the hot gas via openings provided for this purpose.
Front airbags
Do not drive holding the steering wheel by its spokes or resting your hands on the centre part of the wheel.
Passengers must not place their feet on thedashboard.
If possible, do not smoke as deployment of the airbags can cause burns or the risk of injury from a cigarette or pipe.
Never remove or pierce the steering wheel or hit it violently.
For the airbags to be fully effective, observe the following safety rules:
Lateral airbags
Use only approved covers on the seats, compatible with the deployment the lateral airbags. For information on the range of seatcovers suitable for your vehicle, you can contact a CITROËN dealer. Refer to the "Accessories" section.Do not fix or attach anything to the seat backs (clothing...). This could cause injuryto the chest or arms if the lateral airbag isdeployed.Do not sit with the upper par t of the body anynearer to the door than necessary.
Curtain airbags
Do not fix or attach anything to the roof. Thiscould cause injury to the head if the cur tainairbag is deployed.
If fitted on your vehicle, do not remove the grab handles installed on the roof, they playa par t in securing the cur tain airbags.

General points relating to child seats
For maximum safety, please obser ve the following recommendations:
- in accordance with European regulations,
all children under the age of 12 or less
than one and a half metres tall must
travel in a
pproved child seats suited to
their weight , on seats fitted with a seat
belt or ISOFIX mountings * ,-statistically, the safest seats in your
vehicle for carrying children are the rear seats, -
a child weighing less than 9 kg must
travel in the "rearwards-facing" position both in the front and in the rear.
CITROËN recommendsthat children should travel in the rear seats of your vehicle.- "rearward-facing"
up to the age of 3, - "forward-facing"over the age of 3.
Although one of CITROËN main criteria when designing your vehicle, the safety of your children
also depends on you.
*
The rules for carrying children are specific to each country. Refer to the legislation in force
in your country.

"Rearward facing"
When a "rear ward-facing" child seat isinstalled on the front passenger seat, adjust
the vehicle seat to the midway longitudinalposition, the lowest height position, backrest straightened. Then pull the height control lever
11 t i mes.
The passenger's airbag must be deactivated. Otherwise, the child risks being seriously injured or killed if the airbag is deployed.
"Forward facing"
When a "rear ward-facing" child seat is installed on the front passenger seat, adjust
the vehicle seat to the midway longitudinal
position, the lowest height position, backrest
straightened. Then pull the height control lever
11 times. Leave the passen
ger's airbag active.
Passenger seat in the midway longitudinal position, the lowest height position, then
the height control lever pulled 11 times.
Ensure that the seat belt is properly tightened. For child seats with a stay, ensurethat this is in firm and steady contactwith the floor. If necessary, adjust the passenger's seat.
