Monitoring

Service
on temporarily. A minor fault has occurred for which
there is no specific warning lamp. Identify the fault by means of the associated message, such as:
- opening of a door, the boot or bonnet,
- low engine oil level,
- low screenwash/headlamp wash fluid level,
-
discharged remote control battery,
- low tyre pressures,
- saturation of the par ticle emission filter (PEF) on
Diesel vehicles.
For more information on the PEF, refer to the
"Checks - par ticle emissions filter" section.
For any other faults, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.

Access
For all work on the alarm system,contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Alarm System which protects and provides a deterrent against theft and break-ins. It provides the following types of monitoring:
- Exterior perimeter
The system checks for opening of the vehicle.
The alarm is triggered if anyone tries to open a
door, the boot or the bonnet...
- Interior volumetric
The system checks for any variation in the
volume in the passenger compartment.
The alarm is triggered if anyone breaks a
window, enters the passenger compar tment or moves inside the vehicle.
Self-protection function
The system checks for the
disconnection of any of its components. The alarm is triggered if the battery,the button or the wires of the siren aredisconnected or damaged.
Locking the vehicle with full
alarm system
Activation
If an opening (door, boot, bonnet...) is not closed fully, the vehicle is not locked but theexterior perimeter monitoring will be activated
after a delay of 45 seconds, at the same time
as the interior volumetric monitoring.
)Lock the vehicle using the remote control.
)Switch off the ignition and get out of the vehicle.
or )
Lock the vehicle using the "Keyless Entry
and Starting" system.
The monitorin
g system is active: the indicator
lamp in the button flashes once per second and
th
e the direction indicators come on for about
2 seconds.
After an instruction to lock the vehicle lockedusing the remote control or the Keyless Entry
and Starting system, the exterior perimeter
monitoring is activated after a delay of 5 seconds, the interior volumetric monitoring
after 45 seconds.

Installing electricalaccessories
Your vehicle's electrical system isdesigned to operate with standard or optional equipment.
Before installing other electrical equipment or accessories on your vehicle, contact a CITROËN dealer or aqualified workshop.
Configurations
The type of electrical system of the vehicle depends on its level of equipment.
To i d e n t i fy the type of electrical system on your vehicle, open the bonnet: the presence of anadditional fusebox in front of the battery indicates that it is type 2.
The type 1 electrical system does not have any fuses in front of the battery.

Checks
Bonnet
Open the left hand front door.
Do not open the bonnet under verywindy conditions.When the engine is hot, handle the exterior safety catch and the stay with care (risk of burns), using the protected area.

Lift the safety catch and raise the bonnet.
)Unclip the stay from its housing and place it
in the support slot to hold the bonnet open.
Opening
)Pull the release lever, located at the bottom
of the door aper ture, towards you.
Before doing anything under the bonnet,switch off the Stop & Start system toavoid any risk of injury resulting from anautomatic change to START mode.
The cooling fan may star t after switching off the engine: take care with ar ticles and clothing that might become caught by the fan blades.
Closing
)Take the stay out of its suppor t slot. )Clip the stay back into its housing. )Lower the bonnet and release it at the end of its travel. )Pull on the bonnet to check that it haslatched correctly.
When the bonnet is open, take care not to damage the safety catch.

Checks
Running out of fuel (Diesel)
On vehicle fitted with HDi engines, the fuel system must be primed if you run out of fuel;
refer to the corresponding engine compar tment
view.
1.6 litre HDi engine
)
Fill the fuel tank with at least five litres of diesel.
)
Open the bonnet. )
If necessary, unclip the styling cover for
access to the priming pump. ) Squeeze and release the priming pumprepeatedly until resistance is felt (there may be resistance at the first press). )
Operate the star ter until the engine starts(if the engine does not star t at the first
attempt, wait around 15 seconds before
tr
ying again). ) If the engine does not star t after a few
attempts, operate the priming pump again
then star t the engine. ) Clip the styling cover back in place. )
Close the bonnet.
If the tank on your vehicle is fitted witha misfuel prevention device, refer to the"Misfuel prevention (Diesel)" section.
If the engine does not star t first time, don't keep trying but star t the procedureagain from the beginning.
