Quality of the fuel used for 
petrol engines 
   
The petrol engines are perfectly com-
patible with E10 or E24 type petrol 
biofuels (containing 10 % or 24 % etha-
nol), conforming to European standards 
EN 228 and EN 15376. 
  E85 type fuels (containing up to 85 % 
ethanol) are reserved exclusively for 
vehicles marketed for the use of this 
type of fuel (BioFlex vehicles). The 
quality of the ethanol must comply with 
European standard EN 15293. 
  For Brazil only, special vehicles are 
marketed to run on fuels containing up 
to 100 % ethanol (E100 type).  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Quality of the fuel used for 
Diesel engines 
   
The Diesel engines are perfectly com-
patible with biofuels which conform to 
current and future European standards 
(Diesel fuel which complies with stan-
dard EN 590 mixed with a biofuel which 
complies with standard EN 14214) 
available at the pumps (containing up 
to 7 % Fatty Acid Methyl Ester). 
  The B30 biofuel can be used in certain 
Diesel engines; however, this use is sub-
ject to strict application of the special ser-
vicing conditions. Contact a CITROËN 
dealer or a qualifi ed workshop. 
  The use of any other type of (bio)fuel 
(vegetable or animal oils, pure or dilut-
ed, domestic fuel...) is strictly prohibited 
(risk of damage to the engine and fuel 
system).  
   
The petrol or Diesel engine of your vehicle 
is fi tted with a catalytic converter, a device 
which helps to reduce the level of harmful 
emissions in the exhaust gases. 
   
For petrol engines, the use of unleaded 
fuel is compulsory.   
  The fi ller neck is narrower, admitting un-
leaded petrol nozzles only.  
 
 
 
Fuel supply cut-off 
 
Your vehicle is equipped with a safety 
device which cuts off the fuel supply in 
the event of a collision.

MISFUEL PREVENTION 
(DIESEL) *  
 
Mechanical device which prevents fi ll-
ing the tank of a Diesel vehicle with 
petrol. It avoids the risk of engine dam-
age that can result from fi lling with the 
wrong fuel. 
  Located in the fi ller neck, the misfuel 
prevention device appears when the 
fi ller cap is removed. 
 
 
Operation 
 
When a petrol fi ller nozzle is introduced 
into the fuel fi ller neck of your Diesel 
vehicle, it comes into contact with the 
fl ap. The system remains closed and 
prevents fi lling. 
   
Do not persist but introduce a Diesel 
type fi ller nozzle. 
 
 
  It remains possible to use a fuel 
can to fi ll the tank.  
In order to ensure a good fl ow of 
fuel, do not place the nozzle of 
the fuel can in direct contact with 
the fl ap of the misfuel prevention 
device and pour slowly.

Travelling abroad 
  As Diesel fuel pump nozzles may 
be different in other countries, 
the presence of the misfuel pre-
vention device may make refuel-
ling impossible. 
  Before travelling abroad, we 
recommend that you check with 
the CITROËN dealer network, 
whether your vehicle is suitable 
for the fuel pumps in the country 
in which you want to travel.

vided,  
  by the use of dedicated lamps; this 
function can be activated or deac-
tivated via the vehicle confi guration 
menu.  
 
   
The instruments and controls (instru-
ment panel, multifunction screen, air 
conditioning control panel, ...) are not 
illuminated, except in night mode with 
manual or automatic illumination of 
headlamps.

Automatic rain sensitive 
windscreen wipers 
  The windscreen wipers operate automat-
ically, without any action on the part of 
the driver, if rain is detected (sensor be-
hind the rear view mirror), adapting their 
speed to the intensity of the rainfall.

a wiping cycle, accompanied 
by illumination of this warning lamp in 
the instrument panel and an activation

Operating fault 
  If an automatic rain sensitive wiper mal-
function occurs, the wipers will operate 
in intermittent mode. 
  Contact a CITROËN dealer or a quali-
fi ed workshop. 
  Do not cover the rain sensor,

and located in the centre of the 
windscreen behind the rear view 
mirror. 
  Switch off the automatic rain 
sensitive wipers when using an 
automatic car wash. 
  In winter, it is advisable to wait 
until the windscreen is completely 
clear of ice before activating the 
automatic rain sensitive wipers.  
     
The automatic rain sensitive 
windscreen wipers must be re-
activated if the ignition has been 
off for more than one minute.

Low screenwash / headlamp wash 
fl uid level 
  On vehicle fi tted with headlamp wash-
ers, the low level of this fl uid is indicat-
ed by gauge in the reservoir fi ller  neck 
under the bonnet. 
  Checking and topping up this fl uid  can 
should be done with the engine off. 
  The level of this fl uid should be checked 
regularly, particularly during winter. 
  Refer to "Checks - Screenwash / head-
lamp wash level" section for the proce-
dure on checking the level.  
     
 
 
  Pull the windscreen wiper stalk to-
wards you. The windscreen wash 
then the windscreen wipers operate 
for a fi xed period.  
  The headlamp washers only operate 
when  the dipped or main beam head-
lamps are on 
,  with the vehicle moving 
. 
   
To reduce the consumption of 
the fl uid by the headlamp wash-
ers, they operate only with every 
seventh use of the screenwash 
or every 25 miles (40 km) during 
a given journey.

it in the the "permanently off" position.

  Permanent lighting.   In permanent lighting mode, the 
lighting time varies according to

-   with the ignition off, approxi-
mately ten minutes, 
   
-   in energy economy mode, ap-
proximately thirty seconds, 
   
-   with the engine running, un-

  When the courtesy lamp is in 
the "permanent lighting" posi-

comes on, except if it is in the

when the light is poor. 
   
Switching on 
 
At night, two interior mood lamps in the front courtesy lamp come on automatically 
when the sidelamps are switched on.  
 
 
Switching off 
 
The interior mood lighting switches off 
automatically when the sidelamps are 
switched off. 
  It can be switched off manually by ad-
justing the instrument panel lighting 
rheostat button to one of the lowest set-
tings.  
  This comes on automatically when the 
boot is opened and goes off automati-
cally when the boot is closed.

The lighting time varies accord-
ing to the circumstances: 
   
 
-   when the ignition is off, ap-

 connect your multimedia or other 
electrical device (telephone char-
ger, laptop computer, CD-DVD play-
er, baby food warmer...).  
  This socket works with the engine 
running, as well as in STOP mode on 
Stop & Start.    
 
 
  To connect a 12 V accessory (max 
power: 120 W), lift the cover and 
connect a suitable adaptor.  
 
 
 
 
 
 
12 V ACCESSORY SOCKET  
 
Connect only one device at a 
time to the socket (no extension 
or multi-way connector). 
  Connect only devices with class 
II insulation (shown on the de-
vice). 
  As a safety measure, when elec-
trical consumption is high and 
when required by the vehicle's 
electrical system (particular 
weather conditions, electrical 
overload...), the current supply 
to the socket will be cut off; the 
green warning lamp goes off.  
 
  In the event of a fault with the socket, 
the green warning lamp fl ashes.

TRAJECTORY CONTROL 
SYSTEMS (ESP) 
   
Anti-slip regulation (ASR) and 
electronic stability control (ESC) 
   
The anti-slip regulation (also known as 
traction control) optimises traction to pre-
vent skidding of the wheels, by acting on 
the brakes of the driving wheels and on 
the engine. 
  The electronic stability control acts on 
the brake of one or more wheels and 
on the engine to keep the vehicle on the 
trajectory required by the driver, within 
the limits of the laws of physics.  
   
Activation 
  These systems are activated automati-
cally each time the vehicle is started. 
  They come into operation in the event 
of a grip or trajectory problem. 
  This is indicated by fl ashing  of 
this warning lamp in the instru-
ment panel.  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Intelligent traction control 
system ("Snow motion") 
  Your vehicle has a system to help driving 
on snow:  intelligent traction control.   
  This system detects situations of diffi -
cult surface adhesion that could make it 
diffi cult to move off or make progress on 
deep fresh snow or compacted snow. 
  In these situations, the  intelligent trac-
tion control 
 limits the amount of wheel 
slip to provide the best traction and tra-
jectory control for your vehicle. 
  In extremely severe conditions (deep 
snow, mud, ...), when it proves impos-
sible to move off, it may be useful to 
temporarily deactivate the ESP/ASR 
systems to allow the wheels to spin 
freely and so allow movement of the 
vehicle.    
 
Deactivation 
  In exceptional conditions (starting a 
vehicle which is bogged down, stuck in 
snow, on soft ground...), if you are un-
able to make progress, it may be ad-
visable to temporarily deactivate these 
systems, so that the wheels can spin 
freely and allow the vehicle to move. 
   
 
 
  Press the  "ESP OFF" 
 button, locat-
ed near the steering wheel.  
  If the indicator lamp in the button comes 
on, this indicates that these systems 
are deactivated.     
The use of snow tyres is strongly 
recommended on surfaces of-
fering low levels of adhesion.  
 
  It is recommended that the systems be 
reactivated as soon as possible.
