Adjusting the head restraints

Installing the head restraints
.. Slide the posts on the head restraint down
into the guides until you feel the posts lock
into place.

should not be able to pull the head restraint
out of the backrest .
So that the driver can have a better view to
the rear, the head restraints should be pushed
down completely when the rear seats are not
occupied.
.&_ WARNING
- Only remove the rear seat head restraints
when necessary in order to install a child
seat. Install the head restraint again im­
mediately once the child seat is removed.
Driving without head restra ints or with
head restraints that are not properly ad­
justed increases the risk of serious or fa­
tal neck injury dramatically .

Seat memory
Description
Ap plies to vehicles: with memo ry function
The memory function allows you to quickly
and easi ly sto re and recall personal seating profiles for
the driver and front passenger*.
The memory function is operated through the
master key and the memory buttons in the
driver's/front passenger's* doors.
T he driver's seating profile is stored and as ­
signed to the master key each time the vehicle
is locked . The seating profile is reca lled auto­
matically when the vehicle is unlocked. If two
people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their own" master key .
Two seating profiles can be stored in each of
the driver's/front passenger's* doors. Once
stored, these seating profiles can be recalled at any time.
The following sett ings are stored:

Memory buttons

The memory buttons are located in the dr iv­
e r's/front passenger's* door.
• To store a seating prof ile, press the
IS ETI
button and then one of the memory but­
tons.
• To reca ll a se ati ng profile, press and hold
the memory button until the seat is adjust­
ed to the stored settings.
• To switch the memory function for the driv­
er or front passenger off, press the
I OFFI
button. The word OFF lights up when the
memory function is switched off. Seating
profiles will not be stored.
A WARNING
-For safety reasons, the seat sett ing
should only be recalled when the vehicle
is stationary - otherwise you risk having
an accident .
- If necessary, you stop the process by
pressing the
I OFFI button or any of the
memory buttons.

Adjusting the front passenger seat in

Applies to vehicles: with memory function
The driver can adjust the position of the front
passenger seat.
Adjusting the front passenger seat from
the driver's side
• Select: I CAR I function button > (Car)* sys­
tems
control button > Vehicle settings>
Seats> Front passenger seat> Adjust seat
position.
• You can now adjust the front passenger seat
using the buttons on the driver's seat

Matching the position of the driver's seat
• To adjust the front passenger seat to match
the driver's seat settings, select the
ICARI
function button > (Car)* systems control
button
> Vehicle settings > Seats > Front
passenger seat> Symmetry to driver seat.
• Press and hold the control knob until the
adjustment process is complete .
(!) Tips
When matching seat settings, the settings
for the lumbar support and seating sur­
face will not transfer to the front passeng­
er's seat.

The 12-volt sockets can be used for electr ical
accessories . Th e power input must not exceed
120 watts.
Before you purchase any accessories, always
read and follow the information in
¢ page 287, Additional accessories and ports
replacement.
& WARNING
The sockets and the electrica l accessories
connected to them operate only when the
ignition is switched on . Incorrect usage
can lead to serious injuries or burns. To re­
duce the risk of injuries, never leave chil­
dren unattended in the vehicle with the ve­
hicle key.
(D Note
To avoid damaging the socket, only use
plugs that fit properly.
- Never connect equipment that generates
electrical current, such as a so lar panel
or battery charger, to the 12-volt socket.
This could damage the vehicle's electri ­
cal system .
- The 12-volt socket should only be used
for a short period of time as a power
source for electr ical equipment . Please
use the electrical sockets in the vehicle
when connecting equipment for longer
periods .
- To avoid damaging the socket, only use
plugs that fit p roperly .
(D Tips
When the engine is off and accessor ies are
still plugged in and are on, the vehicle bat­
tery can still be drained .

- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the vehicle while it is moving . In case
of an acc ident , sudden braking or other

vehicle movement, hot liquid could spill,
causing scalding burns. Spilled hot liquid
can also cause an accident and personal
injury .
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and glasses can cause injury in an
accident .
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an
ashtray- risk of fire.
([) Note
Only drink containers with lids should be
carried in the cupholder. Liquid could spill
out and damage your vehicle's electronic
equipment or stain the upholstery, etc.
Cooled glove compartment

The cooled glove compartment only functions
when the AIC system is switched on.

The glove compartment cooling mode only
functions when the vehicle A/C system is
switched on .
If the heating is switched on,

off is recommended .
_& WARNING
Always leave the lid on the glove compart­
ment cover closed while driving to reduce
th e risk of injury.
Additional storage
Ther e are a variety of storage compartments
and fasteners in various places in the vehicle.
- Storage compartments in the doors
- Compartment in the glove compartment
(cooled*) . The glove compartment can be
locked using the mechanical key

-Storage compartment for (sun)glasses* in
the roof (near the interior mirror)
- Storage compartments under the center
armrests
- Storage compartment on the rear side of
the front seat* . The compartment can hold a
maximum weight of 1 kg .
- Compartments* on the back of the front
seat backrests
- Garment hooks on the sides of the pillars in
the rear of the vehicle and in the rear grab
handles
- Compartment in the rear center armrest
- Two mounting hooks* under the base of the
rear window inside the luggage compart­
ment. You can attach light objects to these
hooks . The mounting hooks are spring -load­
ed and will return to their normal position
when not in use.
_& WARNING
- Always remove objects from the instru­
ment panel. Any items not stored could
slide around inside the vehicle while driv­
ing or when accelerating or when apply­
ing the brakes or when driving around a
corner.
- When you are driving make sure that
anything you may have placed in the cen­
ter console or other storage locations
cannot fall out into the footwells. In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to brake or accelerate.
- Always keep the lid of the compartment
for (sun)glasses* closed while driving to
reduce the risk of injury during a sudden
braking maneuver or in the event of an
accident.

-Never exceed the maximum permissible
load carry ing capacity of the roof of your
vehicle, the permissible axle weights and
the permissible total weight of your vehi­ cle

@ For the sake of the environment
As a result of the increased wind resist­ance created by a roof rack, your vehicle is
using fue l unnecessarily. So remove the
roof rack after using it.

partment and use suitable straps, partic­
ularly with heavy objects.
- When you transport heavy objects, al­
ways remember that a change in the cen­
ter of gravity may result in a change in
the vehicle's handling characteristics.

Climate controls
Description
A pplies to vehicles: with three-zone cl imate cont ro l or
four-zone a uto mat ic climate contro l
The climate control system warms, cools and
adds humidity to the air in the vehicle interior. It is the most effective when the windows and
sunroof* are closed .
If the temperature inside
the parked veh icle becomes very warm, open ­
ing the w indow br iefly will speed up the cool­
ing process.
In all heating mode functions except
defrost,
the blower on ly switches to a highe r speed
once the engine coolant has reached a certain
temperature.
Condensat ion from the cooling system can
d rip and form a puddle of wate r under the ve­
h icle. This is normal and does not mean there
is a leak .
Pollutant filt er
The pollutant filter removes pollutants such
as dust and po llen from the air.
The air pollutants filter must be changed at
the intervals spec ified in your Warranty
&
Maintenance booklet, so that the air condi­
tioner can properly work .
If you drive your vehicle in an area with high
a ir pollution, the filter may need to be
changed more freq uently than specified in
your Aud i Warranty & Ma intenance booklet. If
i n doubt, as k your author ized Audi Se rvice Ad­
visor for adv ice.
K ey coded setting s
Three-zone climate control: The blower set­
ting and air distribution are stored automati­
cally and assigned to the remote control key
that is in use.
Four-zone automatic climate control: The cli­
mate control settings are automatica lly stor­
ed and assigned to the remote control key
that is in use.
A WARNING
Reduced visibility is dangerous and can
cause accidents.
-
- For safe driving it is very important that
all windows be free of ice, snow and con­
densat ion .
- Comp lete ly fami liarize yourse lf with the
proper use and funct ion of the heat ing
and ventilation system and especially
how to defog and defrost the w indows.
- Never use the windshield wiper/washer system in freez ing weather unt il you
have wa rmed the windshie ld first, using
the heating and ventilation system. The
washer sol ution may freeze on the w ind­
shie ld and red uce visib ility.
(D Note
- If you suspect that the air conditioner
has been damaged, switch the system
off to avoid further d amage and have i t
inspected by a q uali fied dealership .
- Repairs to the Audi air conditioner re­
quire speci al technical know ledge and
special tools. Contact an authorized Audi
dea ler fo r ass istance.
@ For the sake of the environment
By reducing the amount of f uel you use,
you also red uce the amount of pollutants
emitted into the air.
(D Tips
- Keep the air intake s lo ts (in front o f the
windshield) free from ice, snow and de ­
bris in order to maintain the proper func­
tion of the climate control system.
- The energy management system may
switch the seat heating* or rear window
defroster off temporar ily. These systems
are available again as soon as the energy
balance has been restored .
-Air escapes through vents under the rear
w indow. When plac ing items of cloth ing
on the luggage compartment cover, en­
sure that the openings are not covered.

place heavy loads on a small area of the
seat.
Setup

The climate con trol system setup is accessed
through the MMI.
" Select: ICARI function button > ( Car) * sys-
tems con trol button > AC.
Rear cabin settings*
When this function is selected, all settings for
the rear can be adjusted through the climate
control system in the cockpit. The climate
control system settings cannot be adjusted in
the rear seat at the same time. This function
switches
off after a certain period of time or
when one of the dials in the cockpit is press­
ed .
Auto recirculation*
The sensitivity level of the automatic rec ircu ­
la tion mode can be set at various leve ls from
off to sensitive. The recirculation mode is con­
trolled automat ica lly. You must press the~
button if fog forms on the windows.
Footwell temperature
You can adjust the footwell temperature so
that it is cooler or warmer.
AC mode
The strength of the airflow can be adjusted to
light, med ium or strong.

After a cold engine is started, the re may be a
brief period of increased noise because oil
pressure must first bu ild up in the hydraulic
va lve adjusters. This is normal and not a cause
f or concern.
If the engine should not start immediately,
the starting process is automatically stopped
after a short time . Repeat starting procedure.
Start-Stop-S ystem *:
When you stop and the Start-Stop-System*
turns
off the engine, the ignition still remains
switched on.
- If you press the I STAR T ENGINE STOPI but­
ton now, the ignition wi ll be switched
off.

The fo llow ing applies to vehicles with Start­
Stop -System*: to prevent the battery from
draining, the ignition and the engine wi ll

off automatically under the following
conditions :
- T he vehicle has already been dr iven.
- T he d river's door is opened.
- T he driver's seat be lt is removed.
- The brake pedal is not pressed down .
- The veh icle is sta tionary.
In t his case, the activated low beam w ill be re­
p laced by the side marker lights. The side
marker lights will switch
off after a certain pe­
riod of time or when you lock the vehicle.

ways swi tch off the ignit io n if you a re leav ing
