❒If the vehicle is used under severe
conditions(e.g. towing of trailers up-
hill or fully loaded vehicle): slow down
and stop the car if the warning light
stays on. Stand for 2 or 3 minutes with
the engine running and slightly accel-
erated to ease a better circulation of
coolant. Then stop the engine. Check
correct liquid level as described above.
IMPORTANT Under severe use of the
car, keep the engine on and slightly accel-
erated for a few minutes before switching
it off.
On certain versions the dedicated message
is displayed.
LOW BATTERY
CHARGE (red)
Turning the ignition key to
MARthe warning light turns on, but it
should go out as soon as the engine is
started (with the engine running at idle
speed a brief delay in going out is allowed).
If the warning light stays on glowing steadi-
ly or flashing: contact immediately Abarth
Dealership.

ABS SYSTEM FAILURE

Turning the ignition key to
MARthe warning light turns on, but it
should go off after a few seconds.
The warning light will light up when the
system is either not working or not avail-
able. In the case, the braking system will
work as normal without the extra poten-
tials offered by the ABS system. Drive
carefully and go to a Abarth Dealership as
soon as possible.
On certain versions the dedicated message
is displayed.

EBD system failure or that the system is
not available. Early locking of the rear
wheels may occur in the event of violent
braking causing the car to swerve. Drive

If the car is equipped with esseesse kit (for versions/markets, where provided), the engine oil and engine oil filtermust be changed every 10,000 km.
(❍) In order to ensure correct efficiency and avoid damaging the engine, it is necessary to: - exclusively use certified spark plugs specific for the 1.4 TB BZ Abarth engines. All candles to be fitted must be
of the same type and same manufacturer (see recommendations reported in the “Engine” paragraph);- strictly respect the candles’ Scheduled Maintenance Plan; - it is recommended to apply to Abarth Dealership.

Engine oil consumption
The maximum engine oil consumption is
usually 400 grams every 1000 km.
When the car is new, the engine needs
to run in, therefore the engine oil con-
sumption can only be considered stabilised
after the first 5,000 ÷ 6,000 km.
IMPORTANT The oil consumption de-
pends on driving style and the conditions
under which the car is used.
IMPORTANT After adding or changing
the oil, let the engine turn over for a few
seconds and wait a few minutes after turn-
ing it off before you check the level. ENGINE OIL fig.1
Check the oil level a few minutes (about
5) after the engine has stopped, with the
car parked on level ground.
The oil level shall be included between the
MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick B.
The range between the MIN and MAX
levels corresponds to approximately 1
litre of oil.
If the oil level is near or even under the
MIN line, add oil through the filler Ato
reach the MAX line.
Oil level shall never exceed the MAX line.
Proceed very carefully inside
the engine compartment
when the engine is hot: risk of burns.
Remember that the fan may start up
if the engine is hot: risk of injury. Pay
attention to scarves, ties and other
loose fitting garments: they might get
caught by moving components.
WARNING
Don’t add any oil having dif-
ferent characteristics from
those of the existing engine oil.
The exhausted engine oil and
the replaced oil filter contain
substances that may be dan-
gerous for the environment. It
is advisable to have oil and filters
changed by a Abarth Dealership where
they will be disposed of according to
the law.
