If this warning lamp comes on in the instrument panel, automatic application / release is deactivated . The parking brake must be applied and released manually . manually . manually
Before leaving the vehicle, check that the the brake warning lamp and the P warning lamp in the control lever Aare on fixed (not flashing) .
If towing a trailer or caravan or if the slope might vary (transport by boat or lorry, recovery of the vehicle...) make a maximum application of the parking brake - by making a long pull on the control lever A - to immobilise the vehicle.
Driving safely
Electric parking brake
Manual Application/Release
Manual application of the parking brake is possible by pulling the control lever A . With the ignition on, manual release of the parking brake is possible by pressing the brake pedal and pulling then releasing the control lever A .
If an audible signal is heard on opening the driver's door with the hybrid system active, apply the parking brake manually. Do not leave a child alone in the vehicle with the ignition on; they might release the parking brake.
Automatic Application / Release
Press the accelerator pedal, the parking brake is released automatically and progressively as you move off. With the vehicle stationary, the parking brake is applied automatically on switching off the ignition ( Ready lamp off).

Air conditioning
QuestionAnswer
It seems to me that the vehicle runs less on electric when the heating or air conditioning is operating, is that right?
The demand for heating or air conditioning may require the starting of the Diesel engine until the desired level of comfort is attained. Normal hybrid operation is simply put back. The period can be longer under low or very high ambient temperatures.
It seems to me that when it is very hot and the air conditioning is working, the vehicle runs on electric for shorter periods. Is that right?
When it is hot, the periods when the Diesel engine is put on standby and the vehicle runs on electric are necessarily restricted in order to limit the difference between the temperature in the vehicle and the level of comfort selected. In very hot weather, it is always possible to press the Eco OFF button (which brings the vehicle out of ZEV mode and prevents electric running or the stopping of the engine) to give preference to temperature control (keeps the air conditioning running).
Special Hybrid4 features
QuestionAnswer
Can I tow with my hybrid vehicle and how much? A Hybrid4 vehicle can tow between 500 kg and 800 kg (see the "Towing" section). This allows a jet ski or two-wheeler on a trailer to be towed, for example. The "technical" reason for the limit is related to maintaining adequate cooling capacity for the internal combustion engine as well as the hybrid components that are also cooled by the engine's cooling system.
Why does engine braking seem so strong? When you take your foot off the accelerator, the engine braking results mainly from the energy recovery by the electric motor. This leads to a higher level of deceleration than a conventional vehicle and so allows the recovery of free energy.

Recovery of the vehicle on a fl at-bed
Never recover the vehicle by towing it with the wheels on the ground (neither the front wheels, nor the rear wheels), as there is a risk of damage to the transmission. Before doing any work, with the ignition on, press the brake pedal and place the gear selector in position N , then switch off the hybrid system ( Ready lamp off). Always call on a professional for the recovery of your vehicle on a flat-bed lorry or trailer.
Use the towing eyes only to lash the vehicle when recovering it on a flat-bed lorry or trailer.

Warning triangle (stowing)
Use the straps on the interior boot trim to stow the folded triangle or its storage box.
Before getting out of your vehicle to assemble the triangle and place it on the road, put on your high visibility vest. The triangle is available as an accessory, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for use of the triangle.
Placing the triangle in
the road
Place the triangle at a distance behind the vehicle, as shown in the table below, according to the type of road and the level of ambient light.
Distance from your vehicle (in metres)

50 m 80 m 150 m
These are the internationally recognised values. Use the triangle in line with local driving regulations.
Placing the triangle on the road
Place the triangle behind the vehicle, as required by the legislation in force in your c o unt r y.

In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the operation and maintenance guidelines below: To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obstruct the exterior air intake grilles located at the base of the windscreen, the nozzles, the vents and the air outlets, as well as the air extractor located in the boot. Do not cover the sunshine sensor, located on the dashboard; this is used for regulation of the digital air conditioning system. Operate the air conditioning system for at least 5 to 10 minutes, once or twice a month to keep it in per fect working order. Ensure that the passenger compartment filter is in good condition and have the filter elements replaced regularly (refer to the "Checks" section). We recommend the use of a combined passenger compartment filter. Thanks to its special active additive, it contributes to the purification of the air breathed by the occupants and the cleanliness of the passenger compartment (reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours and greasy deposits). To ensure correct operation of the air conditioning system, you are also advised to have it checked regularly as recommended in the maintenance and warranty guide. If the system does not produce cold air, switch it off and contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop. You can switch off the air conditioning (AC button) and stay in Automatic mode in order to limit fuel consumption. If misting appears while in this mode, you can switch the air conditioning back on temporarily to improve the situation. When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high temperatures, switching off the air conditioning increases the available engine power and so improves the towing ability.
Recommendations for ventilation and air conditioning
If after an extended stop in sunshine, the interior temperature is very high, first ventilate the passenger compartment for a few moments. Put the air flow control at a setting high enough to quickly change the air in the passenger compartment. The air conditioning system does not contain chlorine and does not present any danger to the ozone layer.
The condensation created by the air conditioning results in a discharge of water under the vehicle which is per fectly normal.
It is recommended that you do not apply the parking brake in very cold conditions (ice) and during towing (recover y...). To do this, release the parking brake manually, select position A or R , then press the START/STOP switch to stop the engine.
The electric parking brake combines 2 operating modes: - Automatic Application/Release Application is automatic when the engine stops, release is automatic on use of the accelerator (this mode is activated by default), - Manual Application/Release Manual application of the parking brake is done by pulling control lever A. Manual release is done by pulling then releasing the control lever, while pressing the brake pedal . When the driver's door is opened, there is an audible signal and a message is displayed if the brake is not applied.
Programming the automatic mode
Depending on the country of sale of the vehicle, the automatic application when the engine is switched off and the automatic release when you press the accelerator can be deactivated. You can contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop to have it activated.
In this case, programming is done via the configuration menu.
Electric parking brake
If deactivated, the parking brake must be applied and released manually. If this warning lamp comes on in the instrument panel, the automatic mode is deactivated.
Never leave the vehicle without checking that the parking brake is on.
This warning lamp comes on fixed (not flashing).
