CAUTION
This is a warning against something which, if ignored, may cause death or
serious injury to people. You are informed about what you must or must not do
in order to reduce the risk of death or serious injury to yourself and others.
NOTICE
This is a warning against something which, if ignored, may cause damage to
the vehicle or its equipment. You are informed about what you must or must
not do in order to avoid or reduce the risk of damage to your Toyota and its
equipment.
Safety symbol
The symbol of a circle with a slash through it means “Do not”, “Do
not do this”, or “Do not let this happen”.
Arrows indicating operations

CAUTION
When children are in the vehicle
Do not allow children to play with the seat belt. If the seat belt becomes
twisted around a child’s neck, it may lead to choking or other serious injuries
that could result in death.
If this occurs and the buckle cannot be unfastened, scissors should be used
to cut the belt.
Seat belt pretensioners
Do not place anything, such as a cushion, on the front passenger’s seat.
The seat belt pretensioner for the front passenger’s seat may not activate
in the event of a collision.
If the pretensioner has activated, the SRS warning light will come on. In
that case, the seat belt cannot be used again and must be replaced at any
authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional.
Seat belt damage and wear
Do not damage the seat belts by allowing the belt or plate to be jammed in
the door.
Inspect the seat belt system periodically. Check for cuts, fraying, and loose
parts. Do not use a damaged seat belt until it is replaced. Damaged seat
belt cannot protect an occupant from death or serious injury.
Ensure that the belt and plate are locked and the belt is not twisted.
If the seat belt does not function correctly, immediately contact any autho-
rized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped pro-
fessional.
Replace the seat assembly, including the belts, if your vehicle has been
involved in a serious accident, even if there is no obvious damage.
Do not attempt to install, remove, modify, disassemble or dispose of the
seat belts. Have any necessary repairs carried out by any authorized Toy-
ota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
Inappropriate handling of the pretensioner may prevent it from operating
properly, resulting in death or serious injury.

Insert the key into the cylinder
and turn to the “OFF” position.
SRS warning light turns on (only
when the engine switch is in the
“ON” position).
CAUTION
When installing a child restraint system
For safety reasons, always install a child restraint system in a rear seat. In
the event that the rear seat cannot be used, the front seat can be used as
long as the airbag manual on-off system is set to “OFF”.
If the airbag manual on-off system is left “ON”, the strong impact of the air-
bag deployment (inflation) may cause serious injury or even death.
When a child restraint system is not installed on the front passenger
seat
Ensure that the airbag manual on-off system is set to “ON”.
If it is left “OFF”, the airbag may not deploy in the event of an accident, which
may result in serious injury or even death.

If the “N” indicator is flashing
When shifting the shift lever
Shift the shift lever to N. Wait a few seconds and shift the shift lever to the
desired position.
When the engine is turned off
Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position. Depress the brake pedal and
shift the shift lever to N, and then to the desired position.
If the indicator still flashes after the above operations, shift the shift lever to
N and start the engine. Then, shift the shift lever to the desired position.
Reverse warning buzzer
When shifting into R, a buzzer will sound to inform the driver that the shift
lever is in R.
Downshift restriction warning buzzer (in E mode [when the paddle shift
switches are operated] or M mode)
To help ensure safety and driving performance, downshifting operation may
sometimes be restricted. In some circumstances, downshifting may not be
possible even when the shift lever or paddle shift switches are operated. (A
buzzer will sound twice.)
