CAUTION
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause the driver’s floor mat to slip, possibly interfering
with the pedals while driving. An unexpectedly high speed may result or it may
become difficult to stop the vehicle, leading to an accident, or leading to death
or a serious injury.
When installing the driver’s floor mat
Do not use floor mats designed for other models or different model year
vehicles, even if they are Toyota Genuine floor mats.
Only use floor mats designed for the driver’s seat.
Always install the floor mat securely using the retaining hooks (clips) pro-
vided.
Do not use two or more floor mats on top of each other.
Do not place the floor mat bottom-side up or upside-down.
Before driving
Check that the floor mat is securely
fixed in the correct place with all the
provided retaining hooks (clips). Be
especially careful to perform this check
after cleaning the floor.
Except hybrid model: With the engine
stopped and the shift lever in P (Multid-
rive) or N (multi-mode manual and man-
ual transmissions), fully depress each
pedal to the floor to make sure it does
not interfere with the floor mat.
Hybrid model: With the hybrid system
stopped and the shift position in P, fully
depress each pedal to the floor to make
sure it does not interfere with the floor
mat.

Lower the head restraints to the lowest position. (P. 212)
Pull the seatback lock release
lever and fold the seatback
down.
Each seatback may be folded sep-
arately.
When folding the rear seatbacks down
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or
serious injury.
Do not fold the seatbacks down while driving.
Except hybrid model: Stop the vehicle on level ground, set the parking brake
and shift the shift lever to P (Multidrive) or N (multi-mode manual transmis-
sion and manual transmission).
Hybrid model: Stop the vehicle on level ground, set the parking brake and
set the shift position to P.
Do not allow anyone to sit on a folded seatback or in the luggage compart-
ment while driving.
Do not allow children to enter the luggage compartment.
Do not allow anyone to sit on the rear center seat if the rear right seat is
folded down, as the seat belt buckle for the rear center seat belt is then con-
cealed under the folded seat and cannot be used.
Be careful not to catch your hand when folding the rear seatbacks.
Adjust the position of the front seat before folding down the rear seatbacks
so that the front seat does not interfere with the rear seatbacks when folding
down the rear seatbacks.

Multidrive and hybrid transmission
Except hybrid model: With the brake pedal depressed, shift the shift
lever to D. (P. 276)
Hybrid model: With the brake pedal depressed, shift the shift posi-
tion to D. (P. 289)
Check that the shift position indicator shows D.
Release the parking brake. (P. 298)
Gradually release the brake pedal and gently depress the accelera-
tor pedal to accelerate the vehicle.
Multi-mode manual transmission
With the brake pedal depressed, shift the shift lever to E or M.

When shifting the shift lever to E: Make sure that the display of the gear
position indicator shows E.
When shifting the shift lever to M: Make sure that the display of the gear
position indicator shows 1.
Release the parking brake. (P. 298)
Gradually release the brake pedal and gently depress the accelera-
tor pedal to accelerate the vehicle.
Driving the vehicle
The following procedures should be observed to ensure safe
driving:

Manual transmission
While depressing the clutch pedal, shift the shift lever to 1.

Release the parking brake. (P. 298)
Gradually release the clutch pedal. At the same time, gently
depress the accelerator pedal to accelerate the vehicle.
Multidrive
With the shift lever in D, depress the brake pedal.
If necessary, set the parking brake.
If the vehicle is to be stopped for an extended period of time, shift the shift
lever to P or N. (P. 276)
Multi-mode manual transmission
With the shift lever in E or M, depress the brake pedal.
If necessary, set the parking brake.
When the vehicle is stopped for an extended period of time, shift the shift
lever to N. (P. 281)
Manual transmission
While depressing the clutch pedal, depress the brake pedal.
If necessary, set the parking brake.
If the vehicle is to be stopped for an extended period of time, shift the shift
lever to N. (P. 286)
Vehicles with a Stop & Start system: If the Stop & Start system is enabled,
shifting the shift lever to N and releasing the clutch pedal will stop the
engine. (P. 286)
Hybrid transmission
With the shift position in D, depress the brake pedal.
If necessary, set the parking brake.
When the vehicle is stopped for an extended period of time, shift the shift
