Seat position memory (front passenger’s seat)
Your preferred front passenger seat position can be memorized and
recalled with the touch of a button.
Three different seat positions can be entered into memory.
■ Entering a position to memory
Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to IGNITION ON
mode.
Adjust the front passenger seat to the desired position.
Push the “SET” button, then
within 3 seconds push button
“1”, “2” or “3” until the signal
beeps.
If the selected button has
already been preset, the previ-
ously recorded position will be
overwritten.
■Recalling the memorized position
Check that the shift lever is set in P.
Push button “1”, “2” or “3” to
recall the memorized position.

■Operating the seat position memory after turning the “ENGINE START STOP”
switch OFF
Memorized position can be activated up to 180 seconds after the front passenger
door is opened, even after turning the “ENGINE START STOP” switch OFF.
■To cancel seat position recall
Perform any of the following operations.
●Push the “SET” button.
●Push button “1”, “2” or “3”.
●Adjust the seat position using the switches.
■If the battery is disconnected
The memorized positions are erased when the battery is disconnected.
CAUTION
■Seat adjustment caution
Take care during seat adjustment that the seat does not strike the rear passenger.

Head restraints
■Removing the head restraints (front seats)
Head restraints are provided for all seats.
Vertical adjustment (front seats)Up

Make sure the head restraints are not in the stowed/folded position while in use.
CAUTION
■Head restraint precautions
Observe the following precautions regarding the head restraints. Failure to do so
may result in death or serious injury.
●Use the head restraints designed for each respective seat.
●Adjust the head restraints to the correct position at all times.
●After adjusting the head restraints, push down on them and make sure they are
locked in position.
●Do not drive with the head restraints removed.

restraint is closest to the top of your ears.

Seat belts
Make sure that all occupants are wearing their seat belts before driving the
vehicle.
■Correct use of the seat belts
●Extend the shoulder belt so
that it comes fully over the
shoulder, but does not come
into contact with the neck or
slide off the shoulder.
● Position the lap belt as low as
possible over the hips.
● Adjust the position of the
seatback. Sit up straight and
well back in the seat.
● Do not twist the seat belt.
■ Fastening and releasing the seat belt

Seat belt pretensionersThe pretensioner helps the seat
belt to quickly restrain the occu-
pant by retracting the seat belt
when the vehicle is subjected to
certain types of severe frontal colli-
sion.
The pretensioner may not activate
in the event of a minor frontal
impact, a side impact, a rear impact
or a vehicle rollover.

Pre-collision seat belts (front seats of vehicles with pre-collision system)
If the pre-collision sensor detects that a collision is unavoidable, the pre-
collision safety system will retract the seat belt, thus enhancing the effec-
tiveness of the seat belt pretensioner in a crash.
The same will happen if the driver makes an emergency braking or loses con-
trol of the vehicle. ( →P. 2 0 3 )
■Emergency locking retractor (ELR)
The retractor will lock the belt during a sudden stop or on impact. It may also lock if
you lean forward or pull out the belt too quickly. Allow the belt to fully retract, and
then slowly extend the belt. If the belt ca nnot be pulled out of the retractor, firmly
pull the belt and release it. You will then be able to smoothly pull the belt out of the
retractor.
■Automatic locking retractor (ALR)
When a passenger's shoulder belt is completely extended and then retracted even
slightly, the belt is locked in that position and cannot be extended. This feature is
used to hold the child restraint system (CRS) firmly. To free the belt again, fully
retract the belt and then pull the belt out once more. ( →P. 115)
■Pregnant women
Obtain medical advice and wear the seat belt
in the proper way. (→P. 6 4 )
Women who are pregnant should position
the lap belt as low as possible over the hips in
the same manner as other occupants. Extend
the shoulder belt completely over the shoul-
der and position the belt across the chest.
Avoid belt contact over the rounding of the
abdominal area.
If the seat belt is not worn properly, not only a
pregnant woman, but also the fetus could suf-
fer death or serious injury as a result of sud-
den braking or a collision.
