Operation of each component

When the vehicle is not driven for extended periods
To prevent theft of the vehicle, do not leave the electronic key within 2 m
(6 ft.) of the vehicle.
The smart entry & start system can be deactivated in advance. (P. 855)
Alarm (if equipped)
Using the smart entry & start system to lock the doors will set the alarm sys-
tem.

To operate the system properly
Make sure to carry the electronic key when operating the system. Do not get
the electronic key too close to the vehicle when operating the system from
the outside of the vehicle.
Depending on the position and holding condition of the electronic key, the
key may not be detected correctly and the system may not operate properly.
(The alarm may go off accidentally, or the door lock prevention function
may not operate.)
Do not leave the electronic key inside the luggage compartment.
The key confinement prevention function may not operate, depending on
the location of the key (close to a spare tire [if equipped], the inside edge of
the luggage compartment), conditions (inside a metal bag, close to metallic
objects) and the radio waves in the surrounding area. (P. 152)
If the smart entry & start system does not operate properly
Locking and unlocking the doors and opening the trunk: Use the mechani-
cal key.

tors is shown by the “TWI” or “”
marks, etc., molded on the sidewall
of each tire.
Check spare tire condition and
pressure if not rotated.
Replace or rotate tires in accordance with maintenance schedules
and treadwear.

Low profile tires (except 225/50R17 tires)
Generally, low profile tires will wear more rapidly and tire grip performance
will be reduced on snowy and/or icy roads when compared to standard tires.
Be sure to use snow tires or tire chains
* on snowy and/or icy roads and drive
carefully at a speed appropriate for road and weather conditions.
*: Tire chains cannot be mounted on the 19-inch tires. Snow tires should be
used instead.
If the tread on snow tires wears down below 4 mm (0.16 in.)
The effectiveness of the tires as snow tires is lost.
Situations in which the tire pressure warning system may not operate properly
(vehicles with the tire pressure warning system)
In the following cases, the tire pressure warning system may not operate
properly.
• If non-genuine Lexus wheels are used.
• A tire has been replaced with a tire that is not an OE (Original Equip-
ment) tire.
• A tire has been replaced with a tire that is not of the specified size.
• Tire chains etc. are equipped.
• Lock nuts are equipped.
• An auxiliary-supported run-flat tire is equipped.
• If a window tint that affects the radio wave signals is installed.
• If there is a lot of snow or ice on the vehicle, particularly around the
wheels or wheel housings.
• If the tire inflation pressure is extremely higher than the specified level.
• If the spare tire is in a location subject to poor radio wave signal recep-
tion.

• If a large metallic object which can interfere with signal reception is put
in the trunk.

: Vehicles with a full-size spare tire only
Performance may be affected in the following situations.
• Near a TV tower, electric power plant, gas station, radio station, large
display, airport or other facility that generates strong radio waves or elec-
trical noise
• When carrying a portable radio, cellular phone, cordless phone or other
wireless communication device
Vehicles with the tire inflation pressure display function: If tire position
information is not correctly displayed due to the radio wave conditions, the
display may be corrected by driving and changing the radio wave condi-
tions.

CAUTION
Speed limit when using the compact spare tire
Do not drive at speeds in excess of 80 km/h (50 mph) when a compact
spare tire is installed on the vehicle.
The compact spare tire is not designed for driving at high speeds. Failure to
observe this precaution may lead to an accident causing death or serious
injury.
After using the tools and jack
Before driving, make sure all the tools and jack are securely in place in
their storage location to reduce the possibility of personal injury during a
collision or sudden braking.
NOTICE
Driving with tire chains and the compact spare tire
Do not fit tire chains to the compact spare tire.
Tire chains may damage the vehicle body and adversely affect driving per-
formance.
When replacing the tires
When removing or fitting the wheels, tires or the tire pressure warning
valve and transmitter, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional as the tire pressure warn-
ing valve and transmitter may be damaged if not handled correctly.
