—Do not place the Intelligent Key foran extended period in a place where
temperatures exceed 1408F (608C).
—Do not change or modify the In-telligent Key.
—Do not use a magnet key holder.
—Do not place the Intelligent Key nearan electric appliance such as a
television set or personal computer.
—Do not allow the Intelligent Key to
come into contact with water or salt
water, and do not wash it in a
washing machine. This could affect
the system function.
. If an Intelligent Key is lost or stolen,
INFINITI recommends erasing the ID code
of that Intelligent Key. This will prevent
the Intelligent Key from unauthorized
use to unlock the vehicle. For informa-
tion regarding the erasing procedure,
please contact an INFINITI retailer.

Mechanical keyGUID-7F1D714A-88A5-4B94-8BFC-A9616BB16BE6To remove the mechanical key, release the
lock knob at the back of the Intelligent Key.
To install the mechanical key, firmly insert
it into the Intelligent Key until the lock
knob returns to the lock position.
Use the mechanical key to lock or unlock
the doors, glove box and trunk pass-
through lid, if they are equipped with a
key cylinder.
See “Doors” (P.3-4) and “Trunk lid” (P.3-
18), “Storage” (P.2-45) and “Seats”(P.1-2).
CAUTION
Always carry the mechanical key installed in
the key.
VALET HAND-OFFGUID-126EF626-8897-4A52-861A-A1BD0D40BF46When you have to leave a key with a valet,
give them the Intelligent Key itself and
keep the mechanical key with you to
protect your belongings.
To prevent the glove box and the trunk
from being opened during valet hand-off,
follow the procedures below.
1. Push the trunk release power cancel
switch to the CANCEL side.
2. Remove the mechanical key from the Intelligent Key.
3. Lock the glove box and the trunk pass- through (for Sedan) with the mechan-
ical key.
4. Hand the Intelligent Key to the valet, keeping the mechanical key in your
pocket or bag for insertion into the
Intelligent Key when you retrieve your
vehicle.

When the Intelligent Key battery is dis-
charged or strong radio waves are present
near the operating location, the Intelligent
Key system’s operating range becomes
narrower, and the Intelligent Key may not
function properly.
The operating range is within 31.50 in (80
cm) from each request switch
*1.
If the Intelligent Key is too close to the door
glass, handle or rear bumper the request
switches may not function.
When the Intelligent Key is within the
operating range, it is possible for anyone
who does not carry the Intelligent Key to
push the request switch to lock/unlock the
doors and open the trunk lid.

DOOR LOCKS/UNLOCKS PRECAU-
TION
GUID-8758F957-0253-4213-B30B-91C164A3E031. Do not push the door handle request
switch with the Intelligent Key held in
your hand as illustrated. The close
distance to the door handle will cause
the Intelligent Key system to have
difficulty recognizing that the Intelli-
gent Key is outside the vehicle.
. After locking with the door handle
request switch, verify the doors are
securely locked by testing them.
. To prevent the Intelligent Key from
being left inside the vehicle or the trunk, make sure you carry the key with
you and then lock the doors or the
trunk.
. Do not pull the door handle before
pushing the door handle request
switch. The door will be unlocked but
will not open. Release the door handle
once and pull it again to open the door.
. The Intelligent Key system (opening/
closing doors with the door handle
request switch) can be set to remain
inactive. (See “Vehicle information and
settings” (P.4-9).)

2. Close all the doors.
3. Push the LOCK
button*1on the
Intelligent Key.
4. All the doors and fuel-filler door will lock.
5. The hazard indicator flashes twice and the horn chirps once.
*: Doors will lock with the Intelligent Key
while the ignition switch is in the ACC or
ON position.
Operate the door handles to confirm that
the doors have been securely locked.

Intelligent Key once.
2. The hazard indicator flashes once. The driver’s door and fuel-filler door will
unlock.
3. Push the UNLOCK
button on the
Intelligent Key again within 1 minute.
4. The hazard indicator flashes once
again. All the doors will unlock. All doors will be locked automatically
unless one of the following operations is
performed within 1 minute after pushing
the UNLOCK
button on the Intelligent
Key while the doors are locked. If during
this 1-minute time period, the UNLOCK
button on the Intelligent Key is pushed, all
doors will be locked automatically after
another 1 minute.
. Opening any door
. Pushing the ignition switch
. Inserting the Intelligent Key into the
Intelligent Key port.
During this 1-minute time period, if the
UNLOCK
button on the Intelligent Key
is pushed, all doors will be locked auto-
matically after another 1 minute.
Opening windowsGUID-DFAF51D2-F77E-429A-B2B3-4704C432A052The UNLOCKbutton operation also
allows you to open the window that is
equipped with the automatic open/close
function. (See “Power windows” (P.2-52)).
To open the window, push the door
UNLOCK
button*2on the Intelligent
Key for about 3 seconds after the door is
unlocked.
To stop opening, release the UNLOCK
button. If the window open operation is stopped in
mid-operation while pushing the UNLOCK
button, release and push the UNLOCK
button again until the window opens
completely.
Window cannot be closed using the In-
telligent Key.
The door window can also be operated by
turning the mechanical key in a door lock.
(See “Doors” (P.3-4).)
Opening trunk lidGUID-6B0C7E6B-21C5-491B-9405-C60A2288D5ED1. Push the TRUNKbutton*3on the
Intelligent Key for more than 1 second.
2. The trunk will unlatch.
3. Raise the trunk lid to open the trunk.
Using panic alarmGUID-DFDC4598-37EC-49D5-968F-B7FA5F92DB59If you are near your vehicle and feel
threatened, you may activate the alarm to
call attention as follows:
1. Push the PANIC
button*4on the
key for more than 1 second.
2. The theft warning alarm and headlights will stay on for 25 seconds.
3. The panic alarm stops when:
.It has run for 25 seconds, or

1. Pull the hood lock release handle*1
located below the instrument panel;
the hood will then spring up slightly.
2. Pull the lever
*2up at the front of the
hood with your fingertips and raise the
hood.
3. When closing the hood, slowly close the hood down to latch both the right
and left locks. Push the hood down to
lock the hood securely into place.
WARNING
. Make sure the hood is completely closed
and latched before driving. Failure to do
so could cause the hood to fly open and
result in an accident.
. If you see steam or smoke coming from
the engine compartment, to avoid injury
do not open the hood.

.Do not drive with the trunk lid open. This
could allow dangerous exhaust gases to
be drawn into the vehicle. See “Exhaust
gas (carbon monoxide)” (P.5-3) of this

the trunk lid will be canceled and the trunk
lid cannot be opened by the trunk lid
release switch, the trunk open request
switch or the TRUNK button on the
Intelligent Key.
When you have to leave the vehicle with a
valet and want to keep your belongings
safe in the glove box and the trunk, push
this switch to OFF and lock the glove box
with the mechanical key. Then leave the vehicle and the Intelligent Key with the
valet and keep the mechanical key with
you.

Closely supervise children when they are

locked, with the trunk lid securely latched,

The interior trunk lid release mechanism
allows opening of the trunk lid in the event
that people become locked inside the trunk
or in the event of the loss of electrical
power such as a discharged battery.

the release handle

The release lever is made of a material that
glows in the dark after a brief exposure to

To open the trunk lid from the rear seat,
pull the release handle towards front of
vehicle until the lock releases.

folding the rear seat.
Pull the strap, located at the center bottom
of the seatback, and then fold down the
seatback. (See “Rear seats”(P.1-7).)
To open the trunk lid from the rear seat,

vehicle until the lock releases.
