4. Remove the wheel brace, jack,
jack handle, and spare tyre from
the vehicle.
5. Block both the front and rear of wheel that is diagonally opposite
the jack position. 6. Insert the screwdriver into the
groove of the wheel cap and pry
gently to remove the wheel cap (Ifequipped).

set the parking brake fully,
and always block the wheel
diagonally opposite the wheel
being changed.
We recommend that the wheels of the vehicle be
chocked, and that no person
remain in a vehicle that is

10. Loosen the wheel nuts and
remove them with your fingers. Slide the wheel off the studs and
lay it flat so it cannot roll away. To
put the wheel on the hub, pick up
the spare tyre, line up the holeswith the studs and slide the
wheel onto them. If this is diffi-cult, tip the wheel slightly and getthe top hole in the wheel lined up
with the top stud. Then jiggle the
wheel back and forth until the
wheel can be slid over the other
studs. 11. To reinstall the wheel, hold it on
the studs, put the wheel nuts onthe studs and tighten them finger
tight. Jiggle the tyre to be sure itis completely seated, then tight-
en the nuts as much as possible
with your fingers again.
12. Lower the vehicle to the ground by turning the wheel brace coun-
terclockwise.
WARNING
Wheels may have sharp edges. Handle them carefully
to avoid possible severe
injury.
Before putting the wheel into place, be sure that there isnothing on the hub or wheel
(such as mud, tar, gravel, etc.)
that interferes with the wheel
from fitting solidly against the
hub. If there is, remove it. Ifthe contact of the mountingsurface between the wheel
and hub is not good, the
wheel nuts could come looseand cause the loss of a wheel.
Loss of a wheel may result in
loss of control of the vehicle.
This may cause serious injuryor death.

store them properly.
Important - use of compact spare
tyre (if equipped)
Your vehicle is equipped with a com-
pact spare tyre. This compact spare
tyre takes up less space than a reg-
ular-size tyre. This tyre is smaller
than a conventional tyre and is
designed for temporary use only.
The compact spare should be inflat-
ed to 420 kPa (60 psi).
✽✽NOTICE
Check the inflation pressure after
installing the spare tyre. Adjust it to
the specified pressure, as necessary.
CAUTION
You should drive carefully when the compact spare is inuse. The compact spareshould be replaced by theproper conventional tyre and rim at the first opportunity.
The operation of this vehicle is not recommended withmore than one compact sparetyre in use at the same time.
WARNING
The compact spare tyre is for
emergency use only. Do not
operate your vehicle on thiscompact spare at the speed
over 80 km/h (50 mph). Theoriginal tyre should be repaired
or replaced as soon as possible

When using a compact spare tyre,
observe the following precautions:
Under no circumstances shouldyou exceed 80 km/h (50 mph); a higher speed could damage the
tyre.
Ensure that you drive slowly enough to avoid all hazards. Anyroad hazard, such as a pothole or
debris, could seriously damage the
compact spare.
Any continuous road use of this tyre could result in tyre failure, loss
of vehicle control, and possible
personal injury.
Do not exceed the vehicle’s maxi- mum load rating or the load-carry-
ing capacity shown on the sidewall
of the compact spare tyre.
Avoid driving over obstacles. The compact spare tyre diameter issmaller than the diameter of a con-
ventional tyre and reduces the
ground clearance approximately25 mm (1 inch), which could result
in damage to the vehicle. Do not take this vehicle through an
automatic car wash whilst the com-pact spare tyre is installed.
Do not use tyre chains on the com- pact spare tyre. Because of the
smaller size, a tyre chain will not fit
properly. This could damage the
vehicle and result in loss of thechain.
The compact spare tyre should not be installed on the front axle if the
vehicle must be driven in snow or
on ice.
Do not use the compact spare tyre on any other vehicle because thistyre has been designed especially
for your vehicle.
The compact spare tyre’s tread life is shorter than a regular tyre.
Inspect your compact spare tyre
regularly and replace worn com-
pact spare tyres with the same sizeand design, mounted on the samewheel. The compact spare tyre should not
be used on any other wheels, nor
should standard tyres, snow tyres,
wheel covers or trim rings be used
with the compact spare wheel. Ifsuch use is attempted, damage tothese items or other car compo-
nents may occur.
Do not use more than one compact spare tyre at a time.
Do not tow a trailer whilst the com- pact spare tyre is installed.

At least monthly:
Check the coolant level in the engine
coolant reservoir.
Check the operation of all exterior lights, including the stoplights, turn sig-
nals and hazard warning flashers.
Check the inflation pressures of all tyres including the spare.
At least twice a year
(i.e., every Spring and Fall):
Check the radiator, heater and air con- ditioning hoses for leaks or damage.
Check the windscreen washer spray and wiper operation. Clean wiper
blades with clean cloth dampened with
washer fluid.
Check the headlight alignment.
Check the muffler, exhaust pipes, shields and clamps.
Check the lap/shoulder belts for wear and function.
Check for worn tyres and loose wheel lug nuts.
At least once a year:
Clean the body and door drain holes.
Lubricate the door hinges and checks,and bonnet hinges.
Lubricate the door and bonnet locks and latches.
Lubricate the door rubber weather- strips.
Check the air conditioning system.
Inspect and lubricate automatic transaxle linkage and controls.
Clean the battery and terminals.
Check the brake/clutch fluid level.

CAUTION
Underinflation also results inexcessive wear, poor handlingand reduced fuel economy. Wheel deformation also ispossible. Keep your tyre pres-sures at the proper levels. If a tyre frequently needs refilling,have it checked by an autho-rised HYUNDAI dealer.
Overinflation produces a harsh ride, excessive wear atthe centre of the tyre tread,and a greater possibility ofdamage from road hazards.
TYRES AND WHEELS
Tyre care
For proper maintenance, safety, and
maximum fuel economy, you must
always maintain recommended tyre
inflation pressures and stay within
the load limits and weight distribution
recommended for your vehicle. Recommended cold tyre inflation pressures All tyre pressures (including the
spare) should be checked when the
tyres are cold. “Cold Tyres” means
the vehicle has not been driven for at
least three hours or driven less than1.6 km (one mile).
Recommended pressures must be
maintained for the best ride, top vehi-
cle handling, and minimum tyre
wear.
For recommended inflation pressure,
refer to “Tyre and wheels” in section8. All specifications (sizes and pres-
sures) can be found on a label
attached to the vehicle.
WARNING -
Tyre underin- flation
Severe underinflation (70 kPa(10 psi) or more) can lead to
severe heat build-up, causing
blowouts, tread separation andother tyre failures that can
result in the loss of vehicle con-
trol leading to severe injury or
death. This risk is much higher
on hot days and when driving
for long periods at high speeds.

Maintenance
Remove the valve cap from the tyre
valve stem. Press the tyre gage firm-
ly onto the valve to get a pressure
measurement. If the cold tyre infla-tion pressure matches the recom-mended pressure on the tyre and
loading information label, no further
adjustment is necessary. If the pres-
sure is low, add air until you reachthe recommended amount.
If you overfill the tyre, release air by pushing on the metal stem in the
centre of the tyre valve. Recheck the
tyre pressure with the tyre gage. Be
sure to put the valve caps back on
the valve stems. They help prevent
leaks by keeping out dirt and mois-
ture.Tyre rotation
To equalize tread wear, it is recom- mended that the tyres be rotated
every 12,000 km (7,500 miles) or
sooner if irregular wear develops.
During rotation, check the tyres for
correct balance.
When rotating tyres, check for
uneven wear and damage. Abnormal
wear is usually caused by incorrect
tyre pressure, improper wheel align-
ment, out-of-balance wheels, severe
braking or severe cornering. Look for
bumps or bulges in the tread or side
of tyre. Replace the tyre if you find
either of these conditions. Replace
the tyre if fabric or cord is visible.
After rotation, be sure to bring thefront and rear tyre pressures to spec-
ification and check lug nut tightness.
Refer to “Tyre and wheels” in section 8.
WARNING
Inspect your tyres frequently for proper inflation as well as
wear and damage. Always use
a tyre pressure gauge.
Tyres with too much or too lit- tle pressure wear unevenly
causing poor handling, loss of
vehicle control, and suddentyre failure leading to acci-
dents, injuries, and even death.The recommended cold tyre
pressure for your vehicle can
be found in this manual and onthe tyre label located on the
driver's side centre pillar.
Worn tyres can cause acci- dents. Replace tyres that are
worn, show uneven wear, or
are damaged.
Remember to check the pres- sure of your spare tyre.
HYUNDAI recommends that
you check the spare every
time you check the pressure
of the other tyres on your
vehicle.

Disc brake pads should be inspected
for wear whenever tyres are rotated.
✽✽ NOTICE
Rotate radial tyres that have an
asymmetric tread pattern only from
front to rear and not from right to
left.
Wheel alignment and tyre balance
The wheels on your vehicle were aligned and balanced carefully at the
factory to give you the longest tyre
life and best overall performance.
In most cases, you will not need to
have your wheels aligned again.
However, if you notice unusual tyre
wear or your vehicle pulling one way
or the other, the alignment may needto be reset.
If you notice your vehicle vibrating
when driving on a smooth road, your
wheels may need to be rebalanced.
WARNING
Do not use the compact spare tyre for tyre rotation.
Do not mix bias ply and radial ply tyres under any circum-
stances. This may cause
unusual handling characteris-tics that could result in death,
severe injury, or property
damage.
CAUTION
Improper wheel weights can
damage your vehicle's alu-minum wheels. Use onlyapproved wheel weights.
