WARNING - Seat warmer
burns
Passengers should use extreme
caution when using seat warmers
due to the possibility of excess
heating or burns. The seat warmer
may cause burns even at low tem-
peratures, especially if used for
long periods of time. In particular,
the driver must exercise extreme
care for the following types of pas-
sengers:
1. Infants, children, elderly or hand- icapped persons, or hospital out- patients

This is used to select outside (fresh) air position or recirculated air position.
To change the air intake control position,
press the control button.Recirculated air position
With the recirculated airposition selected, air from
the passenger compart-
ment will be drawn throughthe heating system andheated or cooled accordingto the function selected.
Outside (fresh) air position With the outside (fresh) airposition selected, air
enters the vehicle from out-side and is heated orcooled according to thefunction selected.
✽✽ NOTICE
It should be noted that prolonged oper-
ation of the heater in the recirculated air
position (without air conditioning select-
ed) will cause fogging of the windscreen
and side windows and the air within the
passenger compartment will become
stale.
In addition, prolonged use of the air
conditioning with the recirculated air
position selected will result in excessive-
ly dry air in the passenger compart-

Climate control air filter (if equipped) The climate control air filter installed
behind the glove box filters the dust or
other pollutants that come into the vehi-cle from the outside through the heating
and air conditioning system. If dust or
other pollutants accumulate in the filter
over a period of time, the air flow from the
air vents may decrease, resulting in
moisture accumulation on the inside of
the windscreen even when the outside
(fresh) air position is selected. If this hap-
pens, have the climate control air filter
replaced by an authorised HYUNDAI
dealer.
✽✽NOTICE
Replace the filter according to the Maintenance Schedule.
If the vehicle is being driven in severe
conditions such as dusty, rough roads,
more frequent climate control air fil-
ter inspections and changes are
required.
When the air flow rate suddenly
decreases, the system should be
checked at an authorised HYUNDAI
dealer.Checking the amount of air con-
ditioner refrigerant and compres-sor lubricant
When the amount of refrigerant is low,
the performance of the air conditioning is
reduced. Overfilling also has a negativeinfluence on the air conditioning system.
Therefore, if abnormal operation is
found, have the system inspected by an
authorised HYUNDAI dealer.
✽✽ NOTICE
It is important that the correct type and
amount of oil and refrigerant is used.
Otherwise, damage to the compressor
and abnormal system operation may
occur.
WARNING
The air conditioning system should
be serviced by an authorised
HYUNDAI dealer. Improper service
may cause serious injury to the
person performing the service.

For maximum defrosting, set the tem-
perature control to the extreme
right/hot position and the fan speedcontrol to the highest speed.
If warm air to the floor is desired whilst defrosting or defogging, set the modeto the floor-defrost position.
Before driving, clear all snow and ice from the windscreen, rear window, out-
side rear view mirrors, and all side win-
dows.
Clear all snow and ice from the bonnet and air inlet in the cowl grill to improveheater and defroster efficiency and to
reduce the probability of fogging upinside of the windscreen. Manual climate control system
To defog inside windscreen
1. Select any fan speed except “0” posi-
tion.
2. Select desired temperature.
3. Select the or position.
4. The outside (fresh) air will be selected automatically. Additionally, the air con- ditioning (if equipped) will automatical-
ly operate if the mode is selected tothe position.
If the air conditioning and outside (fresh)air position are not selected automatical-
ly, press the corresponding button manu-
ally.
WINDSCREEN DEFROSTING AND DEFOGGING
WARNING - Windscreen
heating
Do not use the or position during cooling operation in
extremely humid weather. The dif-
ference between the temperature ofthe outside air and that of the wind-screen could cause the outer sur-
face of the windscreen to fog up,
causing loss of visibility. In this
case, set the mode selection knob
or button to the position and
fan speed control knob or button to
lower speed.

Auto defogging system (if equipped)
Auto defogging reduces the probability of
fogging up the inside of the windscreen
by automatically sensing the moisture ofinside the windscreen.
The auto defogging system operates when the heater or air conditioning is on.This indicator illuminates
when the auto defoggingsystem senses the moistureof inside the windscreen and
operates.
If more moisture is in the vehicle, the
higher steps operate as follow. For exam-
ple if auto defogging does not defoginside the windscreen at step 1 Outside
air position, it tries to defog again at step
2 Blowing air toward the windscreen.
Step 1 : Outside air positionStep 2 :Blowing air toward the wind- screen
Step 3 : Increasing air flow toward the windscreen
Step 4 : Operating the air conditioning
Step 5 : Maximizing the air conditioning
✽✽ NOTICE
When the air conditioning is turned on by Auto defogging system, if you
try to turn off the air conditioning, the
indicator will blink 3 times and the air
conditioning will not be turned off.
For efficiency, do not select recirculat- ed air position whilst Auto defogging
system is operating.
