Shift to "P" or "N" to start engine
(Automatic transaxle)If you try to startthe engine with the
shift lever not in
the P(Park) or
N(Neutral) posi-
tion, the warning
illuminates for
about 10 seconds on the LCD display.
You can also start the engine with the
shift lever in the N(Neutral) position, but
for your safety start the engine with the
shift lever in the P(Park) position. Press start button whilst turn steering

START/STOP but-ton is pressed, the

Also, the warning chime sounds once
and the ENGINE START/STOP button

ENGINE START/STOP button whilst
turning the steering wheel right and left. Check steering wheel lock

Battery saver function
The purpose of this feature is to pre-
vent the battery from being dis-
charged. The system automatically
turns off the parking lights when the
driver removes the ignition key and
opens the driver-side door.
With this feature, the parking lights will turn off automatically if the driver parkson the side of road at night.
If necessary, to keep the lights on
when the ignition key is removed, per-
form the following:
1) Open the driver-side door.
2) Turn the parking lights OFF and ON again using the light switch on the
steering column. Headlamp delay function (if equipped)
If you turn the ignition switch to the ACC or OFF position with the headlights ON,the headlights (and/or tail lights) remain
on for about 20 minutes. However, with
the engine off if the driver’s door isopened and closed, the headlights
(and/or tail lights) are turned off after 30
seconds. The headlights (and/or tail lights) can be
turned off by pressing the lock button on
the transmitter (or smart key) twice or
turning the light switch to the OFF or
Auto position.
However, if you turn the light switch to the
Auto position when it is dark outside, the
headlights will not be turned off.
Lighting control
The light switch has a Headlight and a
Parking light position.
To operate the lights, turn the knob at the
end of the control lever to one of the fol-
lowing positions:
(1) OFF position
(2) Parking light position
(3) Headlight position
(4) Auto light position (if equipped)
LIGHTING
CAUTION
If the driver gets out of the vehicle
through other doors (except driver'sdoor), the battery saver functiondoes not operate and the headlampdelay function does not turn off
automatically. Therefore, It causes the battery to be discharged. In thiscase, make sure to turn off the lamp
before getting out of the vehicle.

INTERIOR FEATURES
LCD monitor (Clock and outside temperature) (if equipped)
The monitor displays the clock and out-
side temperature.
Clock
Whenever the battery terminals or relat-
ed fuses are disconnected, you must
reset the time.
When the ignition switch is in the ACC or
ON position, the clock buttons operate as
follows:
 H (Hour)
Press the "H" button to advance the time
displayed by one hour.
 M (Minute)
Press the "M" button to advance the time
displayed by one minute.  Display conversion
To change the 12 hour format to the 24
hour format, press the "H" and "M" button
simultaneously for more than 4 seconds.
For example, if the "H" and "M" button is
pressed whilst the time is 10:15 p.m., the
display will change to 22:15

Steering wheel audio control (if equipped)
The steering wheel audio control button
is installed to promote safe driving.
VOLUME (VOL +/-) (1)
Press the up button (+) to increase vol-ume.
Press the down button (-) to decrease volume.
SEEK/PRESET ( / ) (2)
If the SEEK/PRESET button is pressed
for 0.8 second or more, it will work as fol-
lows in each mode.
RADIO mode
It will function as the AUTO SEEK select
button. It will SEEK until you release the
button.
CDP mode
It will function as the FF/REW button.
If the SEEK/PRESET button is pressed
for less than 0.8 second, it will work as
follows in each mode. RADIO mode
It will function as the PRESET STATION
select buttons.
CDP mode
It will function as the TRACK UP/DOWN
button.
MODE (3)
Press the MODE button to select Radio,
CD (Compact Disc) or AUX (Auxiliary, ifequipped).
MUTE (4, if equipped)
Press the button to mute the sound.
Press the button to turn off the micro-
phone during a telephone call.

If several phones are paired with theaudio system, the system attempts to
connect following order when theBluetooth®

1) “Priority” checked phone.
2) Previously connected phone
3) Gives up auto connection.

3. Select desired phone name from the list shown.

Receiving a Phone Call
When receiving a phone call, a ringtone
is audible from speakers and the audio
system changes into telephone mode.
When receiving a phone call, “Incoming”
message and incoming phone number
(if available) are displayed on the audio.

- Press button on the steering wheel.

- Press button on the steering wheel.

- Use VOLUME buttons on the steering wheel.
Call):
- Press and hold button on the steering wheel until the audio system
transfers a call to the phone. ■
Talking on the Phone
When talking on the phone, “Active Calls”
message and the other party’s phone
number (if available) are displayed on the
audio.

- Press button on the steering wheel.

- Press button on the steering wheel.
■ Making a Phone Call
A Call Back can be made by pressing button on the steering wheel.
- This is the same function as using the button solely on the mobile phone.

WARNING - Driving under
the influence of alcohol or drugs
Drinking and driving is dangerous.
Drunk driving is the number one
contributor to the highway death
toll each year. Even a small amount
of alcohol will affect your reflexes,
perceptions and judgment. Drivingwhilst under the influence of drugs
is as dangerous or more dangerousthan driving drunk.
You are much more likely to have a
serious accident if you drink or
take drugs and drive.
If you are drinking or taking drugs,
don’t drive. Do not ride with a driv-er who has been drinking or taking
drugs. Choose a designated driveror call a cab.WARNING
When you intend to park or stop the vehicle with the engine on, take care not to hold the engine
at high rpm for an extended
amount of time. It may overheat
the engine or exhaust system
and cause fire.
When you make a sudden stop or turn the steering wheel rapidly,
loose objects may drop on the
floor and it could interfere with
the operation of the foot pedals,
possibly causing an accident.
Keep all things in the vehicle
safely stored.
Becoming distracted whilst driv- ing may cause an accident. It isthe responsibility of the driver to
always drive safely.

Illuminated ignition switch (if equipped)
Whenever a front door is opened, the
ignition switch will be illuminated for your
convenience, provided the ignition switch
is not in the ON position. The light will
switch off immediately when the ignition
switch is turned on or switch off afterabout 30 seconds when the door isclosed.Ignition switch position
LOCK
The steering wheel locks to protect
against theft. The ignition key can be
removed only in the LOCK position.
When turning the ignition switch to the
LOCK position, push the key inward at
the ACC position and turn the key towardthe LOCK position.
ACC (Accessory)
The steering wheel is unlocked and elec-
trical accessories are operative.

NOTICE
If difficulty is experienced turning the
ignition switch to the ACC position, turn
the key whilst turning the steering wheel
right and left to release the tension.
ON
The warning lights can be checked
before the engine is started. This is the
normal running position after the engine
is started.
Do not leave the ignition switch ON if the engine is not running, this will preventbattery discharge.
START
Turn the ignition switch to the START
position to start the engine. Once the
engine starts, release the key and it will
switch back to 'ON' naturally.

Starting the engine
WARNING - Ignition switch
Never turn the ignition switch to LOCK or ACC whilst the vehicle
is moving. This would result in
loss of directional control and
braking function, which couldcause an accident.
Before leaving the driver’s seat, always make sure the shift lever
is engaged in 1 st
gear for the man-
ual transaxle or P (Park) for the
automatic transaxle, set the park-
ing brake fully and shut the
engine off. Unexpected and sud-
den vehicle movement may occurif these precautions are nottaken.
Never reach for the ignition switch, or any other controls
through the steering wheel whilst
the vehicle is in motion. The pres-
ence of your hand or arm in this
area could cause a loss of vehicle
control, an accident and serious
bodily injury or death.

Do not place any movable objectsaround the driver’s seat as they
may move whilst driving, inter-
fere with the driver and lead to anaccident.
