7. Loosen the wheel nuts counter-clockwise one turn each, but do
not remove any nut until the tyre
has been raised off the ground. 8. Place the jack at the front or rear
jacking position closest to the tyre
you are changing. Place the jackat the designated locations under
the frame. The jacking positions
are plates welded to the frame
with two tabs and a raised dot to
index with the jack. 9. Insert the jack handle into the jack
and turn it clockwise, raising the
vehicle until the tyre just clears the
ground. This measurement is
approximately 30 mm (1.2 in).
Before removing the wheel nuts,
make sure the vehicle is stable
and that there is no chance for
movement or slippage.
WARNING - Jack location
To reduce the possibility of
injury, be sure to use only the
jack provided with the vehicle
and in the correct jack position;
never use any other part of the
vehicle for jack support.

10. Loosen the wheel nuts and
remove them with your fingers. Slide the wheel off the studs and
lay it flat so it cannot roll away. To
put the wheel on the hub, pick up
the spare tyre, line up the holeswith the studs and slide the
wheel onto them. If this is diffi-cult, tip the wheel slightly and getthe top hole in the wheel lined up
with the top stud. Then jiggle the
wheel back and forth until the
wheel can be slid over the other
studs. 11. To reinstall the wheel, hold it on
the studs, put the wheel nuts onthe studs and tighten them finger
tight. Jiggle the tyre to be sure itis completely seated, then tight-
en the nuts as much as possible
with your fingers again.
12. Lower the vehicle to the ground by turning the wheel brace coun-
terclockwise.
WARNING
Wheels may have sharp edges. Handle them carefully
to avoid possible severe
injury.
Before putting the wheel into place, be sure that there isnothing on the hub or wheel
(such as mud, tar, gravel, etc.)
that interferes with the wheel
from fitting solidly against the
hub. If there is, remove it. Ifthe contact of the mountingsurface between the wheel
and hub is not good, the
wheel nuts could come looseand cause the loss of a wheel.
Loss of a wheel may result in
loss of control of the vehicle.
This may cause serious injuryor death.

What to do in an emergency
When towing your vehicle in an emer- gency without wheel dollies :
1. Set the ignition switch in the ACC posi-tion.
2. Place the transaxle shift lever in N (Neutral).
3. Release the parking brake.
Removable towing hook (front)
1. Open the boot lid, and remove the tow-ing hook from the tool case.
2. Remove the hole cover pressing the lower part of the cover on the front
bumper. 3. Install the towing hook by turning it
clockwise into the hole until it is fullysecured.
4. Remove the towing hook and install the cover after use.
CAUTION
Failure to place the transaxle shift
lever in N (Neutral) may cause inter-nal damage to the transaxle.

Checking the coolant level
Check the condition and connections of all cooling system hoses and heater
hoses. Replace any swollen or deterio-
rated hoses.
The coolant level should be filled
between F (Full) and L (Low) marked on
the side of the coolant reservoir when theengine is cool.
If the coolant level is low, add enough
distilled (deionized) water. Bring the level
to F (Full), but do not overfill. If frequent
additions are required, see an authorised
HYUNDAI dealer for a cooling systeminspection.
WARNING The electric motor (cool-
ing fan) is controlled byengine coolant tempera-
ture, refrigerant pres-
sure and vehicle speed.
It may sometimes operate evenwhen the engine is not running.
Use extreme caution when working
near the blades of the cooling fan
so that you are not injured by a
rotating fan blades. As the engine
coolant temperature decreases, the
electric motor will automatically
shut off. This is a normal condition.

Even if the engine is not operat- ing, do not remove the radiator cap or the drain plug whilst the
engine and radiator are hot. Hot
coolant and steam may still blow
out under pressure, causing seri-
ous injury.

WARNING
Removing radiatorcap
Never attempt to remove the radi- ator cap whilst the engine is
operating or hot. Doing so mightlead to cooling system and
engine damage and could result
in serious personal injury fromescaping hot coolant or steam.
Turn the engine off and wait until it cools down. Use extreme care
when removing the radiator cap.
Wrap a thick towel around it, and
turn it counterclockwise slowly to
the first stop. Step back whilst
the pressure is released from the
cooling system. When you aresure all the pressure has been
released, press down on the cap,
using a thick towel, and continue
turning counterclockwise to
remove it.

CLIMATE CONTROL AIR FILTER (IF EQUIPPED)
Filter inspection
If the vehicle is operated in the severely air-polluted cities or on dusty rough
roads for a long period, it should beinspected more frequently and replaced
earlier. When replacing the climate con-
trol air filter, replace it performing the fol-
lowing procedure, and be careful to avoid
damaging other components. Replace the filter according to the main-
tenance Schedule.
Filter replacement
1. Open the glove box.2. Remove the stoppers by turning them
counterclockwise on both sides.

Fuse switch
Always, put the fuse switch at the ON position.
If you move the switch to the OFF posi- tion, some items such as audio and digi-
tal clock must be reset and transmitter
(or smart key) may not work properly.Engine compartment panel fuse replacement

switches off.
2. Remove the fuse box cover by press- ing the tab and pulling up the cover.
