Anti-theft protection
Electronic engine immobiliser
The keys contain an electronic chip which has
a secret code. When the ignition is switched on, this code must be recognised in order for starting to be possible.
This electronic engine immobiliser locks theengine management system a few minutes
after the ignition is switched off and preventsstarting of the engine by anyone who does not have the key.
In the event of a malfunction, you are informed
by a message in the instrument panel screen.
In this case, your vehicle does not start; contact
a CITROËN dealer as soon as possible.
With the electronic key in the reader or the
Keyless Entry and Star ting key inside the
vehicle, pressing the "STA R T/STOP" button,with no action on the pedals, allows the ignition
to be switched on and so activate the ancillaryequipment.
)Remove the electronic key from the reader.

Press the "STA R T/STOP" button,
the instrument panel comes on
but the engine does not star t.
) Press the button again to switch
off the ignition and so allow the
vehicle to be locked.
Using the ancillaries for a long period introduces the risk of a flat battery.

The batteries contain harmful substances such as sulphuric acid and lead. Theymust be disposed of in accordancewith regulations and must not, in any circumstances, be discarded with householdwaste.
Take used remote control batteries andvehicle batteries to a special collection point.
Do not reverse the polarity and use only a 12 V charger.
Do not disconnect the terminals whilethe engine is running.
Do not charge the batteries without disconnecting the terminals first.
Do not push the vehicle to star t the engine if it is fitted with the 6 -speed electronic gearbox system or an automatic gearbox.
It is advisable to disconnect the 12 Vbattery if the vehicle is to be left unusedfor more than one month.
Before disconnecting the battery
Wait 2 minutes after switching off the ignitionbefore disconnecting the 12 V battery.
Close the windows and the doors before
disconnecting the battery.
Following reconnection of thebattery
Following reconnection of the 12 V battery,
switch on the ignition and wait 1 minute before
starting to permit initialisation of the electronic
systems. However, if problems remain followingthis operation, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Referring to the corresponding section, you
must yourself reinitialise:
- the remote control key,
- the panoramic sunroof blind,
- the GPS satellite navi
gation system.
Load reduction mode
System which manages the use of certainfunctions according to the level of charge
remaining in the battery.
When the vehicle is being driven, the load
reduction function temporarily deactivates cer tain functions, such as the air conditioning,
the heated rear screen...
The deactivated functions are reactivated
automatically as soon as conditions permit.
