Open the glove box. 2.Inser t the key. 3.Select position:"ON"(activation), with front passenger or
"for wards facing" child seat, "OFF"(deactivation), with "rear facing" child seat. 4.
Remove the key keeping the switch in the new position.

Monitoring



Foot on thebrake pedal

fixed. The brake pedal must be pressed. With an electronic gearbox, press the brake pedal to start the engine (lever in position N). With an automatic gearbox, with the engine running,press the brake pedal before releasing the parking
brake, to unlock the lever and come out of position P.PIf you wish to release the parking brake without pressing the brake pedal, this warning lamp will
remain on.

flashing. With an electronic gearbox, if you hold the vehicle on an incline using
the accelerator for too long, the clutchoverheats. Use the brake pedal and
/or the parking brake.
Automatic wipingfixed. The wiper control is pushed downwards. Automatic front wiping is activated.




Passenger'sairbag systemfixed. The control switch, located in theglove box, is in the "ON" position. The passenger's front airbag is activated.

If one of the following indicator lamps comes on, this confirms that the corresponding system has been switched off intentionally.
This is may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction screen.

Set the control to the ONposition to activate the

ESP/ASR
fixed. The button, located at the bottom left of the dashboard, is pressed. Its
indicator lamp is on.
The E
SP/ASR is deactivated.
ESP: electronic stability programme.
ASR: anti-skid regulation.

Press the button again to manually reactivate the ESP/
ASR. Its indicator lamp goes off.
From approximately 30 mph (50 km/h), the system
is reactivated automatically except for the 1.6 litre (THP 150, THP 155 and THP 160) and R ACING engines.
The ESP/ASR system is activated automatically when
the vehicle is started.

Front airbags
System which protects the driver and frontpassenger in the event of a serious front impact
in order to limit the risk of injury to the head and chest.
The driver's airbag is fitted in the centre of the steering wheel; the front passenger's airbag isfitted in the dashboard above the glove box.
Deployment
The airbags are deployed simultaneously,unless the passenger's front airbag is
deactivated, in the event of a serious frontimpact applied to all or par t of the front impact zone A , in the longitudinal centreline of the
vehicle on a horizontal plane and directed from
the front to the rear of the vehicle.
The front airbag inflates between the head-
thorax of the front occupant of the vehicle
and the dashboard to cushion their forward
movement.
