If the transmission is shifted out of
P (Park) while the power function
is in progress, the liftgate power
function will continue to completion.
If the transmission is shifted out of
P (Park) and the vehicle accelerates
before the power liftgate latches
closed, the liftgate may reverse to
the open position. Cargo could fall
out of the vehicle. Always make
sure the power liftgate is closed and
latched before you drive away.
If you power open the liftgate and
the liftgate support struts have lost
pressure, the lights will flash and a
chime will sound. The liftgate will
stay open temporarily, then slowly
close. See your dealer for service
before using the liftgate if this
occurs.
Obstacle Detection Features
A warning chime will sound and the
liftgate will automatically reverse
direction to the full closed or open
position if the liftgate encounters an
obstacle during a power open orclose cycle. After removing the
obstruction, the power liftgate
operation can be used again.
If the liftgate comes across more
obstacles on the same power cycle,
the power function deactivates, and
you must manually open or close
the liftgate. A message displays,
LIFTGATE OPEN, to indicate that
the liftgate is open. See

DIC Buttons) on page 5‑29 for more
information. After removing the
obstructions, manually open the
liftgate to the full open position or
close the liftgate to the fully closed
and latched position. The liftgate
resumes normal power operation.
The vehicle has pinch sensors
located on the side edges of the
liftgate. If an object is caught
between the liftgate and the body
and presses against this sensor, the
liftgate will reverse direction and
open fully. The liftgate will remain
open until it is activated again or closed manually. Do not force the
liftgate open or closed during a
power cycle.
Manual Operation of Power
Liftgate
To change the liftgate to manual
operation, press the switch on the
center console to the OFF position.
A message displays, POWER
LIFTGATE OFF, to indicate that the
liftgate is manual operation mode.

DETERRENT SYSTEM message

Do not leave the key or device
that disarms or deactivates the
theft-deterrent system in the vehicle.Exterior Mirrors
Convex Mirrors
{WARNING
A convex mirror can make things,
like other vehicles, look farther
away than they really are. If you
cut too sharply into the right lane,
you could hit a vehicle on the
right. Check the inside mirror or
glance over your shoulder before
changing lanes.
The passenger side mirror is convex
shaped. A convex mirror's surface is
curved so more can be seen from
the driver seat.
Power Mirrors
Base Model
To adjust the mirrors:
1. Press
oorpto select a mirror.
2. Press the control pad to adjust the mirror.
3. Return the switch to the center to deselect the mirror.

To select preset or favorite radio
stations:

previous radio station stored as

To select tracks on a CD/DVD

device for vehicles without a
navigation system:

or press to play the highlighted
track. To select tracks on an iPod or USB
device for vehicles with a navigation
system:

while listening to a song listed in
the main audio page, to quickly
move forward or in reverse
through the tracks. See the
separate navigation manual for
more information.
Track information is displayed
on the screen. Release

c/xwhen the desired track
is reached.
2. Press and release

track shown in the display.
To navigate folders on an iPod or
USB device for vehicles without a
navigation system:
1. Press and hold

while listening to a song until the
contents of the current folder

To navigate folders on an iPod or

1. Go to the Music Navigator by first touching the center touch
screen folder button in the main
audio page.
2. While in Music Navigator, select the folder/artist/genre/category,
etc. using the touch screen.

Windshield Wiper/Washer
The windshield wiper/washer lever
is located on the left side of the
steering column.
Turn the band with the wiper symbol
to control the windshield wipers.
8(Mist):Use for a single wiping
cycle.
9(Off): Use to turn the wipers off.
6(Adjustable Interval Wipes):
Delays wiping cycle. Turn the band
up for more frequent wipes or down
for less frequent wipes.
1 : Slow wipes.
2 : Fast wipes. Clear ice and snow from the wiper
blades before using them. If frozen
to the windshield, carefully loosen or
thaw them. Damaged wiper blades
should be replaced. See
Wiper
Blade Replacement on page 10‑25.
Heavy snow or ice can overload the
wipers. A circuit breaker stops them
until the motor cools.
Windshield Washer
J(Washer Fluid): Press the
button at the end of the turn signal/
lane change lever, to spray washer
fluid on the windshield. The wipers
clear the windshield and either stop
or return to the preset speed. The
ignition key must be in ACC/
ACCESSORY or ON/RUN for this
to work. See Washer Fluid on
page 10‑20.
{WARNING
In freezing weather, do not use
the washer until the windshield is
warmed. Otherwise the washer
fluid can form ice on the
windshield, blocking your vision.
WASHER FLUID LOW ADD
FLUID is displayed on the Driver
Information Center (DIC) when the
washer fluid is low. See Washer
Fluid Messages on page 5‑40.
Rear Window Wiper/
Washer
The rear wiper and rear wash button
is located on the instrument panel
below the climate control system.
Z (Rear Wiper): Press to turn the
rear wiper on and off. The wiper
speed cannot be changed.
Y (Wash): Press to spray washer
fluid on the rear window. The
window wiper will also come on.

Release the button when enough
fluid has been sprayed on the
window. The rear wiper will run a
few more cycles after it is released.
If the rear wiper function was
already on prior to pressing the
wash button, it stays on until the
wiper button is pressed again.
The rear window washer uses the
same fluid that is in the windshield
washer reservoir. SeeWasher Fluid
on page 10‑20.
Compass
Your vehicle may have a compass
in the Driver Information Center
(DIC). See Driver Information
Center (DIC) (With DIC Buttons) on
page 5‑24 orDriver Information
Center (DIC) (Without DIC Buttons)
on page 5‑29 for more information
about the DIC.
Compass Zone
The zone is set to zone eight upon
leaving the factory. Your dealer will
set the correct zone for your
location. Under certain circumstances,
such as during a long distance
cross-country trip or moving to a
new state or province, it will be
necessary to compensate for
compass variance by resetting the
zone through the DIC if the zone is
not set correctly.
Compass variance is the difference
between the earth's magnetic north
and true geographic north. If the
compass is not set to the zone
where you live, the compass may
give false readings. The compass
must be set to the variance zone in
which the vehicle is traveling.
To adjust for compass variance, use
the following procedure:

Procedure
1. Do not set the compass zone
when the vehicle is moving. Only
set it when the vehicle is in
P (Park). Press the vehicle information
button until PRESS
VTO
CHANGE COMPASS ZONE
displays.
2. Find the vehicle's current location and variance zone
number on the map.
Zones 1 through 15 are
available.
3. Press the set/reset button to scroll through and select the
appropriate variance zone.

4. Press the trip/fuel button untilthe vehicle heading, for
example, N for North, is
displayed in the DIC.
5. If calibration is necessary, calibrate the compass. See
“Compass Calibration
Procedure” following.
Compass Calibration
The compass can be manually
calibrated. Only calibrate the
compass in a magnetically clean
and safe location, such as an open
parking lot, where driving the
vehicle in circles is not a danger.
It is suggested to calibrate away
from tall buildings, utility wires,
manhole covers, or other industrial
structures, if possible.
If CAL should ever appear in the
DIC display, the compass should be
calibrated. If the DIC display does not show a
heading, for example, N for North,
or the heading does not change
after making turns, there may be a
strong magnetic field interfering with
the compass. Such interference
may be caused by a magnetic CB
or cell phone antenna mount, a
magnetic emergency light, magnetic
note pad holder, or any other
magnetic item. Turn off the vehicle,
move the magnetic item, then turn
on the vehicle and calibrate the
compass.
To calibrate the compass, use the
following procedure:
Compass Calibration Procedure
1. Before calibrating the compass,
make sure the compass zone is
set to the variance zone in which
the vehicle is located. See
“Compass Variance (Zone)
Procedure” earlier in this
section. Do not operate any switches
such as window, sunroof,
climate controls, seats, etc.
during the calibration procedure.
2. Press the vehicle information button until PRESS
VTO
CALIBRATE COMPASS
displays.
3. Press the set/reset button to start the compass calibration.
4. The DIC will display CALIBRATING: DRIVE IN
CIRCLES. Drive the vehicle in
tight circles at less than 8 km/h
(5 mph) to complete the
calibration. The DIC will display
CALIBRATION COMPLETE
for a few seconds when the
calibration is complete. The DIC
display will then return to the
previous menu.

Clock
To adjust the time and date:
1. Turn the ignition key to ACC/ACCESSORY or ON/RUN, then
press
Oto turn the radio on.
2. Press
Gto display HR, MIN,
MM, DD, YYYY (hour, minute,
month, day, and year).
3. Press the pushbutton located under any one of the labels to
be changed.
4. To increase the time or date, do one of the following:
.Press the pushbutton below
the selected label.
.Press¨SEEK.
.Press\FWD.
.Turnfclockwise. 5. To decrease the time or date, do
one of the following:
.Press©SEEK.
.PresssREV.
.Turnfcounterclockwise.
To change the time default setting
from 12 hour to 24 hour or to
change the date default setting from
month/day/year to day/month/year:
1. Press
Gand then the
pushbutton located under the
forward arrow that displays on
the radio screen until the time
12H (hour) and 24H (hour), and
the date MM/DD (month and
day) and DD/MM (day and
month) display.
2. Press the pushbutton located under the desired option.
3. Press
Gagain to apply the
selected default, or let the
screen time out.
Power Outlets
The vehicle has 12‐volt outlets that
can be used to plug in electrical
equipment, such as a cell phone or
MP3 player.
The power outlets are located on
the instrument panel below the
climate controls, inside the center
floor console, at the rear of the
center console, and in the rear
cargo area. Lift the cover to access
the outlet and replace when not
in use.
{WARNING
Power is always supplied to the
outlets. Do not leave electrical
equipment plugged in when the
vehicle is not in use because the
vehicle could catch fire and cause
injury or death.
