on the passenger's side

Check light in the master key
The check light @<=:> fig. 15 in the master key
prov ides information about different cond i­
tions.
• The check light turns on brief ly once when a
button is pressed, and during an "inqu iry"
by the convenience key system .

• If the check light does not come on, the
battery is dead and has to be replaced. In
add ition, when the battery is dead
the m
indicator light appears in the instrument
cluster display as well as the message
Please change the key battery .
Master key battery replacement
We recommend having the battery changed
by an authorized Audi dealer. However, if you
wish to replace the dead battery yourse lf , pro­
ceed as follows:
• Remove the mechanical key
c:> page 29.
.. Press the re lease button ® c:> fig. 15 on the
battery holder and at the same time pull the
battery holder out of the master key in the
direction of the arrow .
.. Install the new battery CR 2032 with the
"+" sign facing down.
• Push the battery holder carefu lly into the
master key.
• Install the mechan ical key.
(® For the sake of the environment
Dispose of dead batteries properly so as
not to poll ute the environment.
(D Tips
The replacement battery must be the
same specification as the original.
Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer helps to prevent unauthor­
ized use of your vehicle .
A computer chip inside your key automatically
deact ivates the electronic immobilizer when
the key is inside the vehicle . When you remove
the key from the vehicle, the elect ronic immo ­
bilizer is automatically activated once again.
& WARNING
Always take the key with you when you
leave the vehicle. The key can disarm the
e lectronic engine immobilizer and permit
an unauthorized person to start the engine
and enable operation of the vehicle

If t he vehicle is unlocked and no door, the rear
lid or the hood is opened w ith in 60 seconds,
the vehicle locks itself again automatically.
This feature prevents the vehicle from being
accidenta lly left unlocked over a long period
of time .
It depends on the settings in the MMI wheth­
er the entire veh icle is unlocked o r only cer­
tain doors

- In order to make sure the locking func­
tion is working, you shou ld always keep
you r eye on the vehicle to make sure it is
properly loc ked. -
Do not use the remote control if you are
inside the car, otherwise you may unin­
tentionally lock the vehicle, and then you
would set off the anti-theft alarm when
you try to sta rt the engine o r open a
door. In case this happens anyhow, push
t he unlock button

The doors and the rear lid can be unlocked
and locked without operating the master key .

Do not reach inside the door handle.
T he veh icle can be locke d and unlocked at any
doo r. T he mas te r key mus t be wi thin a range
of about 1.5 m from the appropria te door or
the rear lid. It makes no difference whether
the maste r key is in your jacket pocket or in
your brief case.

You can adj ust the settings for the rear sun
shade so the shade ret ra cts automa tically
when you selec t the reve rse gear. Select:

On. T he sett ings are automat ica lly stored and
assigned to the remote control key . The sun
shade extends again as soon as the veh icle be­
g ins traveling forward at a speed greater than
9 mph (1S km/h), as long as the ignition has not been switched off in th e mea ntime .
& WARNING
When lowe ring or raisi ng the sunshade,
make s ure there is no thing in its way and
t ha t it has a free path to trave l. This could
cause personal injury.
{D) Tips
- Pressing the b utton rn several times
consecutively can tr igger the overload
protection . The sun shade can only be ex- tended/retracted again after a brief wait­
ing period.
- The rear window sun shade on ly func­
tions when the vehicle interior is warmer
than 14°F (-10°C) .
Vanity mirror in the rear

Move the windshie ld wiper lever to the corre­

(D -Rain sensor mode. The windshield wipers
switch on once the vehicle speed exceeds ap­
proximate ly 2 mph (4 km/h) and it is raining.
The higher the rain sensor sensit ivity is set
(sw itch @ to the right), the earlier the

If the wiper blades
are ext reme ly dirty, you can a lso clea n

- For your safety, you should replace the
wiper blades once o r twice a yea r. See
your author ized A udi de aler for re place­
men t blad es.

-The windshield wip er b lades must only
be folded away when in the service pos i­
ti on! Ot herwise, you ris k damaging the
p aint on the hood o r th e windshie ld w ip­
er motor.
- Yo u should no t move your veh icle or
press the windsh ie ld wiper lever when
t he wipe r arms are folded away from the
w indshield. The windshie ld wipers wou ld
move back into their or iginal position
and co uld damage the hood and wind­
shield.
- To help prevent damage to the w iper sys­
tem, always loosen blades wh ich are fro­
zen to the windshield before operating
w ipers .
- To help prevent damage t o wiper blades,
do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint
thinne r, or o ther solven ts on o r near the
w iper blades .
- To help prevent damage to the w iper
arms or other components, do not at­
tempt to move the wipe rs by hand .
(j) Tips
- Comme rcial hot waxes appl ied by a uto­
matic ca r washes affect the cleanability
of t he windshie ld.
- Yo u can also use the se rv ice posi tion, for
example, if yo u want to p rotec t the
w indshield from icing by using a cover.
- Yo u cannot activate the se rv ice position
w hen the hood is ope n.

Front passenger's seat
Always move the front passenger seat into the rearmost position .
To avoid contact with the airbag while it is de­
ploying, do not sit any closer to the instru­
ment panel than necessary and always wear
the three-point safety belt provided adjusted correctly . We recommend that you adjust the
passenger's seat in the following manner:
.. Bring the backrest up to an (almost) upright
pos it ion .
Do not ride with the seat reclined .
.. Adjust the head restra int so the upper edge
i s as even as possib le wit h the top of you r
head .
If that is not possib le, try to adjust
the head restraint so that it is as close to
this position as possible ¢

A WARNING
-Never adjust the driver's or front pas­
senger's seat whi le the vehicle is moving.
If you do th is while the veh icle is moving,
you will be out of position. A lways adj ust
the dr iver's or front passenger's seat
when the vehicle is not moving.
- Be ca reful when adj usting the seat
height. Check to see that no one is in the
way, or serious injury cou ld resu lt!
- Because the seats can be electrically ad­
justed with the ignition off, never leave children unattended in the vehicle . Unsu­
pervised use of the electric seat adjust­
ments may cause serious injury.
- To reduce the risk of injury in the case of
sudden braking or accident, front pas­
sengers must never ride in a moving ve­
hicle with the back rest reclined . Safety
be lts and the airbag system on ly offer
maximum protection w hen the backrest
is upr ight and the safety belts are prop­
erly positioned on the body . The more
the backrest is reclined, the greater the risk of persona l injury from an incorrect
seating position and improperly posi­
tioned safety belts.

Comfort settings
Applies to vehicles: wit h comfort seats in the rear
You can adjust settings for the rear seat from
the cockpit using the MMI.
" Selec t! CAR I function button > Car systems
contro l button > Vehicle settings > Seats >
Rear seats.
Factory settings position -
This function
moves the outer rear seats and the front pas­
senger seatback into the factory settings posi­
t ion .
Entry assistance -Entry assistance makes it
easier to enter and exit the rear seat more
comfortably. When the function is activated,
the rear seat moves all the way back automat­
i ca lly when the corresponding door opens .
Front passenger seat adjustment* -If the
function is act ivated in the MMI, the front
passenger seat can be adjusted from the rear
seat

115-volt socket
Applies to vehicles: with 115 -vo lt socket
The 115-volt socket can only be used when
the engine is running¢
A. When you push
the connector all the way into the socket, the
child safety mechanism releases and current
flows through the socket .
Equipment that can be connected
Electrical devices can be connected to the 115
volt socket in the vehicle. Power consumption
at the 115-volt socket must not exceed 150
watts (300 watts peak) . Check the power con·
sumption of the equipment on the model
plate .
LED on the socket
-The socket is ready for use when the LED is
green.
- If the LED blinks red, there is a malfunction.
The socket will switch off automatically due
to overcurrent or overheating. The socket
will switch on again automatically after a cool-down period. Any devices that are con­
nected and switched on will activate again
automatically

A WARNING
-
- The sockets and the electrical accessories
connected to them operate only when
the ignition is switched on. Incorrect us­
age can lead to serious injuries or burns.
To reduce the risk of injuries, never leave
children unattended in the vehicle with
the vehicle key.
- Heavy equipment or plugs with integrat­
ed power supply units can damage the
socket and lead to injuries.
- Store a ll connected equipment securely
while the vehicle is moving so that they
cannot be thrown through the vehicle in
the event of a braking maneuver or an
accident.
- Never spill any liquids on the socket. If
any moisture gets into the socket, make
certain that all the moisture has dried up before using the socket again.
- Equipment that is connected to the vehi·
cle socket can heat up more than it does
when connected to the public grid .
- When using adapters and extension
cords, the child safety for the 115-volt
socket is disabled and the socket is live.
- Never insert anything other than the
plug of an appropriate electrical accesso·
ry into the socket, especially things that
conduct electricity, e.g. metal pens, knit­
ting needles, etc. into the contacts of the
115-volt socket.
- Turn the electrical equipment off if the
socket has switched off because of over·
heating.
