Controls
Opening/Closing the Power Tailgate
The power tailgate can be operated by pressing the power tailgate button on the
remote transmitter, pressing the power tail gate button in the instrument panel, or
pressing the button on the tailgate.
■The power tailgate can be opened when:
• The tailgate is fully closed.
• The shift lever is in
P.
• Press and hold the tailgate button on the remote transmitter for about one
second.
■The power tailgate can be closed when:
• The tailgate is fully open.
• The shift lever is in
P.
• Press and hold the tailgate button on the remote transmitter for about one
second.
*1: Models with the keyless access system have an ENGINE START/STOP button
instead of an ignition switch.
1 Opening/Closing the Power Tailgate
The power tailgate may not open or close under the
following conditions:
•You start the engine while the tailgate is
automatically opening or closing.
•The vehicle is parked on a steep hill.•The vehicle is swayed in a strong wind.•The tailgate or the roof is covered with snow or ice.
If you close the power tailg ate when all the doors are
locked, the power tailgate locks automatically.
If you replace the battery or the power tailgate fuse
while the tailgate is open, the power tailgate may be
disabled. The power tailgate resumes once you
manually close the tailgate.
Installing aftermarket components other than
genuine Acura accessories on the power tailgate may
prevent it from fully opening or closing.
Make sure the power tailgate is fully open before you
get your luggage in and out.
Make sure the power tailgate is fully closed before
you start the vehicle.
The beeper sounds when you turn the ignition switch
to ON
(w*1, and move the shift lever out of the (P
position while the power tailgate is still open, or
closing.

Your vehicle is equipped with disc brakes at all four wheels. A power assist helps
reduce the effort needed on the brake pedal. The brake assist system increases the
stopping force when you depress the brake pe dal hard in an emergency situation.
The anti-lock brake system (ABS) helps you re tain steering control when braking very
hard.

Check the brakes after driv ing through deep water,
or if there is a buildup of road surface water. If
necessary, dry the brakes by lightly depressing the
pedal several times.
If you hear a continuous metallic friction sound when
applying the brakes, the brake pads need to be
replaced. Have the vehicl e checked by a dealer.
Constantly using the brak e pedal while going down a
long hill builds up heat, which reduces the brake
effectiveness. Apply engine braking by taking your
foot off the accelerator pedal and downshifting to a
lower gear.
Do not rest your foot on the brake pedal while
driving, as it will lightly apply the brakes and cause
them to lose effectiveness over time and reduce pad
life. It will also confuse drivers behind you.

Accessories
When installing accessories, check the following:
•Do not install accessories on the windshi eld. They can obstruct your view and
delay your reaction to driving conditions.
• Do not install accessories on the side pillars or across the side windows.
Accessories installed in th ese areas may interfere with proper operation of the
side curtain airbags.
• Be sure electronic accessories do not overlo ad electrical circuits or interfere with
proper operation of your vehicle.

•Before installing any electronic accessory, have the installer contact a dealer for
assistance. If possible, have a deal er inspect the final installation.
Modifications
Do not modify your vehicle or use non-Acura components that can affect its
handling, stability, and reliability.
Overall vehicle performance can be affected . Always make sure all equipment is
properly installed and maintained, and that it meets federal, state, province,
territory, and local regulations.

Engine Does Not Start
Checking the Engine
If the engine does not start, turn the ignition switch to START e*1 and check the
starter.
*1: Models with the keyless access system have an ENGINE START/STOP button
instead of an ignition switch.
