INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL/
ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Electrical and electronic devices installed after buying
the car in the context of after-sales service must carry
the following label:
Fiat Auto S.p.A. authorises the installation of
transceivers provided that installation is carried out at
a specialised centre, in a workmanlike fashion and in
compliance with manufacturer’s specifications.
IMPORTANT Traffic police may not allow the car on
the road if devices have been installed which modify the
features of the car. This may also cause invalidation of
warranty in relation to faults caused by the change
either directly or indirectly related to it.
Fiat Auto S.p.A. shall not be liable for damage caused by
the installation of accessories either not supplied or
recommended by Fiat Auto S.p.A. and/or not installed in
compliance with the instructions provided. TRANSCEIVERS AND MOBILE
PHONES
Radio transmitter equipment (vehicle mobile phones,
CB radios, amateur radio etc.) cannot be used inside the
car unless a separate aerial is mounted on the roof.
IMPORTANT The use of these devices inside the
passenger compartment (without a separate aerial) may
cause the vehicle electrical systems to malfunction. This
could compromise safety in addition to constituting a
potential hazard for passengers’ health.
In addition, transmission and reception of these devices
may be affected by the shielding effect of the car body.
As far as the use of EC-approved mobile phones is
concerned (GSM, GPRS, UMTS), follow the usage
instructions provided by the mobile phone
manufacturer.

Never replace a blown fuse with metal
wires or other materials.
Should the fuse blow again, contact an
Abarth Dealership.
WARNING
Never replace a fuse with one that has a
higher amperage: FIRE HAZARD.
WARNING
If a general protection fuse (MEGA-
FUSE, MIDI-FUSE, MAXI-FUSE) blows,
contact an Abarth Dealership.
WARNING
Before replacing a fuse, make sure that
the ignition key has been removed and
that all the other services are switched off
and/or disengaged.
WARNING
If a general protection fuse for safety
systems (air bag system, braking system),
power unit systems (engine system, transmission
system) or steering system blows, contact an
Abarth Dealership.

HEAVY USAGE OF THE CAR
Should the car be used predominantly in one of the
following particularly demanding conditions:
❒dusty roads;
❒short distances (less than 7-8 km) and with external
temperatures below zero;
❒frequently idling engine or long distance low speed
driving (e. g. taxis or door-to-door deliveries) or in
the case of long term inactivity;
❒in cities;
perform the following inspections more frequently than
shown on the Scheduled Servicing Plan:
❒check front disc brake pad conditions and wear;
❒check cleanliness of bonnet and boot locks and
linkage cleanliness and lubrication;
❒visually inspect the conditions of: engine, gearbox,
transmission, pipes and hoses (exhaust – fuel
– brakes), rubber parts (boots, sleeves, bushes, etc.);
❒check battery charge and liquid level (electrolyte);
❒visually inspect condition of accessory drive belts;
❒check pollen filter and replace it, if required;
❒check air filter and replace, if required.
PERIODIC CHECKS
Every 1,000 km or before long journeys, check and, if
necessary, top up the following:
❒engine coolant fluid level;
❒brake fluid level;
❒windscreen washer fluid level;
❒tyre pressure and conditions;
❒operation of lighting system (headlights, direction
indicators, hazard lights, etc.);
❒operation of the windscreen wiper/washer system,
position and wear of the windscreen and rear
window wiper blades.
Every 3,000 km check and top up if required: engine oil
level.
It is advisable to use PETRONAS LUBRICANTS products,
designed and produced specifically for Abarth cars (see
table “Capacities” in section “Technical Specifications”).

VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
To adjust the volume, turn the twist control fig. 1.
If the volume level is changed during the transmission of
traffic news, the new setting will only be maintained until
the news is finished.MUTE/PAUSE FUNCTION
(bringing the volume to zero)
Press the MUTE button briefly to activate the Mute
function. The volume will gradually decrease and the
words “RADIO Mute” will appear on the display (in
radio mode) or “PAUSE” (in CD mode).
Press the Mute button again to deactivate the MUTE
function. The volume will gradually increase until it
reaches the level previously set.
When the volume is changed using the dedicated
controls, the Mute function is deactivated and the
volume is adjusted to the new level selected.
The Mute function will be overridden when there is an
incoming traffic alert (if the TA function is activated) or
if an emergency alarm is received. The function will be
reactivated when the alert is over.

RADIO
REGIONAL MODE function
(reception of regional transmissions)
Some national broadcasters transmit regional
programmes at certain times of the day (that vary from
region to region). This function makes it possible to tune
into local (regional) broadcasters automatically (see
“EON function” paragraph).
If you want the radio to automatically tune into the
regional stations being broadcast on the selected
network, the function must be activated.
To turn the function on/off, use the buttons ¯or ˙.
The current status of the function appears on the display:
❒ “Regional On”: function activated.
❒ “Regional Off”: function deactivated.
If the function is deactivated and you have tuned into a
regional station broadcasting in a given area and you
enter a different area, then the regional station received
in the new area will be broadcast.
WARNING If the AF and REG functions are on at the
same time, once a border between two regions is
crossed, the radio may not switch correctly to a valid
alternative frequency. MP3 DISPLAY function
(Compact Disc MP3 data display)
This function makes it possible to select the information
shown by the display when listening to a CD containing
MP3 tracks.
The function can be selected only if a MP3 CD is loaded:
in this case the text “MP3 Display” appears on the
display.
To change the function use the buttons
¯or ˙.
The following settings are available:
❒ “Title” (track title, if ID3-TAG is available).
❒ “Author” (track author, if ID3-TAG is available).
❒ “Album” (track album, if ID3-TAG is available).
❒ “Folder” name (name assigned to the folder).
❒ “File” name (name assigned to the MP3 file).
