24 Overview of the vehicle
In ve hicles with fixed service, services ta ke place
at prede fin ed int ervals .
The service intervals are calculated on an individu
al basis in ve hicles with flexible service. Advan
c es in technology have brought about a considera
ble redu ction in servi cing re quirements . An oil
chang e service must only be carried out when re
quired by the vehicle. The individual conditions in
which the ve hile is used , as the driver's pe rsonal
driv i
ng style , are taken into account. The se rvice
reminder is displayed 30 da ys befor e the service is
due . The dista nce is round ed to the nearest
100 km ; th e re maining time is rounded to full days.

Service
If a service is due, an acoustic signal will sound
and the spanner symbol _.c with the message
Service now! will appear for a few seconds in
the instrument cluster display when the ignition is
switched on. ==>Fig. 14 B.
Accessing a service message
You can access the current service message when
the ignition is switched on, the engine is not run
ning ,
and the vehicle is stationary:
• Press and hold button ==>Fig . 12 @ until the
word Service appears in the display.
•
Release the button . The current service mes
sage will be shown in the display.
Service information ==>Fig. 15 can also be dis
played in the infotainment system by pressing the
@ill button and the ~ and [Serv ice ) function buttons
==>page 31.
Resetting the service interval display
If the service was not performed by a Volkswagen
workshop, the display can be reset as follows: •
Switch
off the ignition and press and hold but
ton ==>Fig. 12 @.
• Switch on the ignition .
• Release button @ and then press it again to
reset the service
interval display.
m The service message will disappear after a
W few seconds, when the engine is running , or
when the OK/RESET button on the windscreen wiper
lever or the OK button on the multifunction steering
wheel is pressed.
m If the vehicle battery was disconnected for
W long periods in vehicles with flexible service,
the system cannot
calculate the time at which the
next service is due. The information shown in the
service interval display may therefore be incorrect.
If this is the case, please heed the maximum per
missible service intervals listed in the ==>Book-
let Service Schedule.
