INACTIVE
Status ET088 is "INACTIVE" when no air conditioning request has been made. When
compressor switch-on has not been authorised (ET004 "AC authorised" is "NO") or
when the driver switches the heating and air conditioning system off.
If there is a compressor switch-on request and status ET088 remains "INACTIVE",
see62A, Air conditioning.
Note: Compressor operation is only authorised when the engine is running.
Compressor activation is commanded by the UPC.
AFTER REPAIRCarry out a road test, then check with the diagnostic tool.

CLUTCH PEDAL SWITCH
STATUS DEFINITIONACTIVE: This status indicates that the clutch pedal is depressed.
INACTIVE: This status indicates that the clutch pedal is released.
NOTESSpecial notes:
Only perform these tests if the status does not correspond with the system
programming functions.
Use CLIO III, MODUS, MEGANE II ph2, SCENIC II ph2 and KANGOO II Wiring
diagrams Technical Note.
"INACTIVE"
Check the condition and the fitting of the clutch pedal switch (see MR 392, 385, 364,
370 and 417 Mechanical, 37A, Mechanical component controls, Clutch pedal
position sensor: Removal - Refitting).
Remove the clutch pedal switch and check the insulation between connections MAM
and 86D (for Mégane II ph 2, Scénic II ph2 and Kangoo II) and between connections
MAS and 86D (for Clio III and Modus) of component675 with the switch in the rest
position.
– Repeat this operation with the switch engaged, and check the continuity between
the two connections.
If these two checks are not correct, replace the clutch pedal switch (see MR 392, 385,
364, 370 and 417 Mechanical, 37A, Mechanical component controls, Clutch pedal
position sensor: Removal - Refitting).
Then check the continuity and absence of interference resistance of the following
connection:
– connection code 86D between components 120 and 675.
– Check that the earth is correct on connectionMAM (for Mégane II ph 2, Scénic II
ph2 and Kangoo II) or on connectionMAS (for Clio III and Modus) of
component675.
If the connection or connections are faulty and there is a repair procedure (see
Technical Note 6015A, Electrical wiring repair, Wiring: Precautions for repair),
repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.

FAN UNIT
STATUS DEFINITIONINACTIVE: This status indicates that the cooling fan assembly is INACTIVE.
LOW SPEED: This status indicates that the cooling fan assembly is at LOW SPEED.
HIGH SPEED: This status indicates that the cooling fan assembly is at HIGH SPEED.
NOTESSpecial notes:
Only perform these tests if the status does not correspond with the system

Conformity check with the engine stopped and the ignition on, or engine running, and engine coolant
temperature > 80°C
INACTIVE
The fan assembly is inactive when the coolant temperature does not exceed 96°C.
LOW SPEEDThe injection computer requests the activation of the low speed GMV when:
– the engine coolant temperature is above 96°C,
– the injection computer has system faults that could lead to the engine
overheating,
– the air conditioning is switched on by the driver.
When the high speed fan is supplied:
–status ET022 Low speed fan request becomes activated.
The low-speed fan assembly stops when:
– the engine coolant temperature is below 94°C,
– no fault which could cause engine overheating is present in the injection
system.
– the air conditioning is not switched on by the driver.

If the resistance of the pedal potentiometer is not between 0.8 kΩ and
2.6 kΩ, replace the pedal potentiometer
(see MR 392, 385, 364, 370 and 417 Mechanical, 13B, Diesel injection, Accelerator pedal potentiometer:
Removal - Refitting).
Measure the resistance of the pedal potentiometer on gang 2 between connections 3LU and 3LV.
If the resistance of the pedal potentiometer is not between 0.8 kΩ and
4.9 kΩ, replace the pedal potentiometer
(see MR 392, 385, 364, 370 and 417 Mechanical, 13B, Diesel injection, Accelerator pedal potentiometer:
