Engine
autodiagnosis
system
fl ashing. The engine management system
has a fault. Risk of destruction of the catalytic converter.
Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.
fi xed. The emission control system has
a fault. The warning lamp should go off when the engine is started.
If it does not go off, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or qualifi ed
workshop without delay.
Low fuel level
fi xed with the
needle in the
red zone,
accompanied by
an audible signal
and a message. When it fi rst comes on there
remains approximately 5 litres
of
fuel in the tank.
At this point, you begin to use the
fuel reserve. Refuel as soon as possible to avoid running out of fuel.
Until suffi cient fuel has been added, this warning lamp
will come on every time the ignition is switched on,
accompanied by an audible signal and a message.
The audible signal and message are repeated with
increasing frequency as the fuel level drops towards "0"
.
Fuel tank capacity : approximately 55 litres
.
Never continue to drive until you run out of fuel, as this
could damage the emission control and injection systems.

- doors, boot or bonnet open,
- low engine oil level,
- low screenwash/headlamp wash reservoir level,

- low tyre pressures,
- saturation of the particle emission fi lter on Diesel vehicles
(see Checks - checking levels/particle emissions fi lter).
For any other faults, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a
qualifi ed workshop.

ALARM *
System which protects and provides a deterrent against theft and break-
ins. It provides the following types of monitoring.
- Exterior perimeter
The system checks for opening of the vehicle.
The alarm is triggered if anyone tries to open a door, the boot, the
bonnet...
- Interior volumetric
The system checks for any variation in the volume in the passenger
compartment.
The alarm is triggered if anyone breaks a window, enters the passenger
compartment or moves inside the vehicle.
- Tilt
The system checks for any change in the attitude of the vehicle.
The alarm is triggered if the vehicle is lifted, moved or knocked.
For all work on the alarm system, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a
qualifi ed workshop.
LOCKING THE VEHICLE WITH FULL ALARM
SYSTEM
Activation
)
Switch off the ignition and get out of the vehicle.
)
Press the locking button on the remote control.
The monitoring system is active: the indicator lamp in the button fl ashes
once per second.
After the locking button on the remote control is pressed, the exterior
perimeter monitoring is activated after a delay of 5 seconds and the
interior volumetric and anti-tilt monitoring after a delay of 45 seconds.
Deactivation

Press the unlocking button on the remote control.
The alarm system is deactivated: the indicator lamp in the button goes off.
Self-protection function
The system checks for the putting out of service of its
components.
The alarm is triggered if the battery, the central control or the siren
wiring are put out of service or damaged.

According to country. If an opening (door, boot...) is not closed fully, the vehicle is not
locked but the exterior perimeter monitoring will be activated after
a delay of 45 seconds at the same time as the interior volumetric
and anti-tilt monitoring.

SAFETY
ACTIVE BONNET
Operating fault
The active bonnet has been designed to maximise the safety of
pedestrians in the event of an impact with the front of the vehicle.
The triggering of the active bonnet is accompanied by a slight
emission of harmless smoke and a noise, due to the activation
of the pyrotechnic cartridge integrated in the system. The airbag
warning lamp comes on.
After triggering, close the bonnet by pressing on the hinges.
Go to the nearest PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifi ed workshop at a
maximum speed of 20 mph (30 km/h). This equipment can only be triggered once. If a second impact
occurs (during the same or a subsequent accident), the active
bonnet will not be triggered.
After an accident or theft of the vehicle, have the system checked.
Do not handle the pyrotechnic systems, located under the bonnet
near the struts: risk of explosion.
All work on this system is strictly prohibited unless carried out by
skilled personnel of a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.
If this warning lamp comes on on the instrument panel,
accompanied by an audible signal and a message in the
screen, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifi ed workshop to
have the system checked. The active bonnet may no longer
be triggered in the event of an impact.

BONNET
OPENING

Open the front left door.
)
Pull the interior release lever A
, located at the bottom of the door
aperture.
CLOSING
)
Lower the bonnet and release it at the end of its travel.
)
Pull on the bonnet to check that it is fully latched.
)
Push the exterior safety catch B
to the left and raise the bonnet.
The bonnet is held open by the two side struts.
The location of the interior release lever prevents opening of the
bonnet while the front left door is closed.
When the engine is hot, handle the safety catch with care
(risk of burns).

2 LITRE HDI ENGINE

Fill the fuel tank with at least fi ve litres of Diesel.

Open the bonnet.
)
Unclip the style cover for access to the priming pump.
)
Slacken the bleed screw.
)
Squeeze and release the priming pump repeatedly until fuel
appears in the transparent pipe with the green connector.
)
Retighten the bleed screw.
)
Operate the starter until the engine starts.
)
Put the style cover back in position and clip it in place.
)
Close the bonnet.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL)
If the engine does not start fi rst time, don't keep trying.
Operate the priming pump again, then the starter motor. On vehicle fi tted with HDi engines, the fuel system must be primed if
you run out of fuel; refer to the engine compartment view on the "Diesel
engine" page.
