De pending on the se verity of the
accide nt, the airbags inflate

The airbag sy ste ms are s upple mentary
to the three -point se at be lts and belt
tensioners, and the sea t belts must
the refore always be worn. Dis re garding
the se ins tructions may le ad to injuries or
endanger life. Vehicle passengers should
be informe d accordingly.

The se at belts are fitted w ith b elt
tens ione rs. The s ea t belts are pulled d ow n
at the buckles in the eve nt of frontal
impac ts ab ov e a certain s ev erity. This
tightens the be lts.

Using the belts
F itti ng the be lt
Pull the be lt out from the re tractor and
guide it acros s the body, making c ertain
that it is not twiste d.
Insert the latch plate into the buckle .
The se at back re s t must not be tilted back
too far (the rec om mende d m aximum tilting
angle is approx. 25
o).
Mak e sure that the lap be lt is not twiste d
and that it fits s nugly across the body.
Te ns ion the be lt fre quently while driving by
tugging the diagonal part of the belt.

The s e at occupancy re cognition s ys tem
de activates the pas se nger’s airbag if the
pas se nger’s s ea t is not occupie d.
Control indicators W and V for seat
occupancy re cognition a re locate d on the
ce ntre console . Both control indica tors
illuminate for app rox . 5 seconds after the
ignition is switched on, then either W or V
illuminates continuously .
If both control indicators illuminate
continuously , or neither illum inates after
the ignition is sw itc he d on, there is a fault in
the s e at occupancy re cognition s ys tem.
The airbag and b elt te nsioner s yste ms m ay
f ail to de plo y in th e eve n t o f an acciden t o r
may deploy unnecessarily. H ave cause of
fault reme die d imme diately by a
workshop.

In this cas e, check that the se at bac kres t
is not pus hing down onto the s eat
cushion. Re cline back res t if nece ss ary. If
control indicator W d oes not illuminate
after adjus ting backre st, ha ve cause of
fault re me died by a workshop.
