You can start ,loc koru nlock the vehicl eusing
KEYLESS-GO .Todothis, you only need carry
the key with you. When you touch the surface
of the sensors on the vehicle's outside door
handles, KEYLESS-GO establishes aradio
connection between the vehicle and the key.
When the engine is started and whilst you are
driving, KEYLESS-GO also checksw hether a
valid key is in the vehicle by periodically
establishing radio contact.

handle you wish to lock or unloc kmust not

You can chang ethe setting of th elocking
system in suc haway that only th edriver's
door and th efuel fille rflap are unlocked. This
is useful if you frequently travel on your own.
X To chang ethe setting: press and hold
down the %and& buttons simulta-
neously for approximately six seconds until
the battery chec klamp (Y page 74)
flashes twice.
i If the settin gofthe locking system is
changed within the signal rang eofthe vehi-
cle, pressing the &or% button locks
or unlocks the vehicle.
The key now functions as follows:
X To unlock th edriver' sdoor: press the
% button once.
X To unlock centrally: press the%but-
ton twice.
X To lock centrally: press the&button.
The KEYLESS-GO function is changed as fol-
lows:
X To unlock th edriver' sdoor: touchthe
inner surface of the door handle on the
driver's door.
X To unlock centrally: touchthe inner sur-
face of the front-passenger door handle.
X To lock centrally: touchthe outer sensor

Restoring the factory settings
X Press the %and& buttons simulta-
neously for approximately six seconds until

If you use th eemergency key element to
unlock and open th edriver' sdoor or th eboot
lid, th eanti-thef talarm system will be trig-
gered (Y page 68).
There are several ways to tur noff the alarm:
X To turn the alarm off with the key: press
the % or& button on the key.
or
X Insert the key into the ignition lock.
or
X To deactivate the alarm with KEYLESS-
GO: press the Start/Stop button in the igni-
tion lock. The key must be in the vehicle.
or
X Lock or unlock the vehicle using KEYLESS-
GO. The key must be outside the vehicle.
Removing the emergency key element X

Changing the battery You require

X Take the emergenc ykey element out of the
key (Y page 74). X
Press emergenc ykey element ;into the
opening in the key in the direction of the
arrow until batter ytray cover :opens.
When doing so, do not hold cover :shut.
X Remove batter ytray cover :. X
Repeatedly tap the key against your palm
until battery =falls out.
X Inser tthe new battery with the positive ter-
minal facing upwards. Use alint-free cloth
to do so.
X Make sure that the surface of the battery is
free from lint, grease and all other forms of
contamination.
X Insert the front tabs of battery tray
cover :and then press to close it.
X Insert the emergency key element into the
key.
X Check the function of all key buttons on the

Switching the seat heating on/off

WARNING
Repeatedly settingt he seat heating to level
3 may result in excessive seat temperatures.
The health of passengers that have limited
temperature sensitivity or alimited ability to
react to excessively high temperatures may
be affected or they may even suffer burn-like
injuries. Therefore, do not use seat heating
level 3repeatedly.
The three red indicator lamps in the button
indicate the heating level you have selected.
i If the battery voltage is too low, the seat
heating may switch off. Driver's and front-passenger seat
The system automatically switches down
from level 3to level 2after approximately
eight minutes.
The system automatically switches down
from level 2to level 1after approximately ten
minutes.
The system automatically switches off
approximately 20 minutes after it is set to
level 1.
X Make sure that the key is in position 1or
2 in the ignition lock.
X To switch on: press button:repeatedly
until the desired heating level is set.
X To switch off: press button:repeatedly
until all the indicator lamps go out. Problems with the seat heating The seat heating has switched off prema-
turely or cannot be switched on. The vehicle's
electrical system voltage is too low because
too many electrical consumers are switched
on.
X
Switch off electrical consumers which you
do not need, such as the rear window heat-
ing or interior lighting. Switching the seat ventilation on/off
Switching on/off The three blue indicator lamps in the buttons
indicate the ventilation level you have selec-
ted.

If the battery voltage is too low, the seat
ventilation may switch off. X
Make sure that the key is in position 1or
2 in the ignition lock.
X To switch on: press button:repeatedly
until the desired ventilation level is set.
i Coupé: you can open the side windows
and the panorama sliding sunroof using the
"Convenience opening" feature

driver's seat automatically switches to the
highest level.

Make sure that nobody can become trapped
when you activate the EASY-ENTRY/EXIT fea-
ture.
If there is arisk of someone becoming trap-
ped, stop the adjustmen tprocedure. To halt
the procedure:
R move the switch for steering whee ladjust-
ment in the opposite directio ntothat in
which the steering whee lismoving.
R press one of the memory function position
buttons.
Never leave children unsupervise dinthe vehi-

THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control
optimally.
R Activate climate control using the Ãand
¿ buttons. The indicator lamps above
the à and¿ button slight up. You
can also set the airflow and air distribution
of the automatic climate control to one of
three levels (FOCUS/MEDIUM/DIFFUSE).
You can set the desired level using button
G.T he MEDIUM level is recommended.
R Set the temperature to 22 †.
R Only use the demisting function briefly until
the windscreen is clear again.
R Only use air-recirculation mode briefly, e.g.
if there are unpleasant outside odours or
when in atunnel. The windows could oth-

R Use the residual heat function if you want

Important information i
When climate control is switched off, the
air supply and air circulation are also
switched off. Only select this setting
briefly. Otherwise, the windows may mist
up. i
Switch on climate control primarily using
the à button (Y page 132).
Activating/deactivating X
Turn the key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
X To switch on: press theÃbutton.
The indicator lamp above the Ãbutton
lights up. Airflow and air distribution are set
to automatic mode.
or
X Press button ^.
The indicator lamp above the ^button
goes out. The previously selected settings
come into effect again.
X To switch off: press the^button.
The indicator lamp above the ^button
lights up. Activating/deactivating cooling with
air dehumidification
Important information The cooling with air dehumidification function
is only available when the engine is running.
The air inside the vehicle is cooled and dehu-
midified according to the temperature selec-
ted.

WARNING
If the "cooling with air dehumidification" func-
tion is deactivated, the air inside the vehicle
will not be cooled (during warm weather) or
dehumidified. The windows could mist up
more quickly. This may prevent you from
observing the traffic conditions, thereby caus-
ing an accident.
Condensation may drip from the underside of
the vehicle when THERMOTRONIC is in cool-
ing mode. This is normal and not asign that
there is amalfunction.
i The cooling with air dehumidification

Programming the integrated garage
door opener in the rear-view mirror Programming

WARNING
Only press the transmitter button on the inte-
grated garage door opener if there are no per- sons or objects present within the sweep of
the garage door. Persons could otherwise be
injured as the door moves. Integrated garage door opener in the rear-view mir-
ror (example: Coupé)

i To achieve the best results, insert new
