Fastening seat belts
Example: Saloon
X
Adjust the seat and move the backrest to
an almost vertical position (Y page 104).
X Pull the seat belt smoothly through belt
sash guide :.
X Without twisting it, guide the shoulder sec-
tion of the seat belt across the middle of
your shoulder and the lap section across
your hips.
X Engage belt tongue ;in buckle =.
Seat-belt adjustment: if necessary, the
driver's and front-passenger seat belts
automatically adjust to th eupper body
(Y page 55).
X If necessary, adjust the seat belt to the
appropriate height (Y page 55).
X If necessary, pull upwards on the shoulder
section of the seat belt to tighten the belt
across your body.

seat belts" (Y page 56).
Seat belt adjustment The seat-belt adjustment function adjusts the
driver's and front-passenger seat belt to the
upper body of the occupants. The belt strap is tightened slightly when:
R
you engage the belt tongue in the belt
buckle and you then turn the key to position
2in the ignition lock.
R the key is in position 2in the ignition lock
and you then engage the belt tongue in the
buckle.
The seat-belt adjustment will apply a certain
tightening force if any slack is detected
between the occupant and the seat belt. Do
not hold on to the seat belt tightly while it is
adjusting. On vehicles with a luxury multi-
function steering wheel (12 buttons), you can
switch the seat-belt adjustment on and off
using the on-board computer (Y page 244).
The seat-belt adjustment is an integral part of
the PRE-SAFE ®
convenience function. More
information about PRE-SAFE ®
can be found
in the "PRE-SAFE ®
(preventative occupant
protection)" section (Y page 51).
Belt height adjustment You can adjust the seat belt height on the
driver's seat and the front-passenger seat.
Adjust the height so that the upper part of the
seat belt is routed across the centre of your
shoulder.
X
To raise: slide the belt sash guide upwards.
The belt sash guide engages in various posi-
tions.
X To lower: press and hold belt sash guide

The head restraints in the fronts eats are
fitted with the NECK-PRO system
(Y page 52). For this reason, it is not pos-
sible to remove the head restraints from
the front seats.
Vehicles without the through-loading fea-
ture: the head restraints cannot be
removed from the rear compartment seats.

with an integrated head restraint .Itis,
therefore, not possible to set the height and
angle of the head restraint.
i Adjust the seat cushion angle so that your
thighs are lightly supported. Seat fore-and-aft adjustment X
Lift handle ?and slide the seat forwards
or backwards.
X Release lever ?again.
Make sure that you hear the seat engage in
position.

i Vehicles with memory function: if PRE-
SAFE ®
has been triggered, the front-
passenger seat will be moved to a better
position if it was previously in an unfavour-
able position.
i You can store the seat settings using the
memory function (Y page 115).
i AMG vehicles are equipped with a seat
featuring an integrated head restraint and
the head restraint adjustment button is dis-
abled.Iti s therefore not possible to set the

X To lower: press release catch :in the
direction of the arrow and push the head
restraint down to the desired position.

Push or pull the lower edge of the head
restraint in the direction of the arrow.

To adjust the head restraint height: slide
the switch for head restraint adjustment
(Y page 106) up or down in the direction of

WARNING
When folding back the head restraint side bol-
sters, do not put your hands between the side
bolster and the cushion holder. There is a
danger of becoming trapped. X
To adjust the side bolsters of the head
restraint: push or pull right and/or left-
hand side bolster :into the desired posi-
tion.
X To adjust the angle of the head
restraint: push or pull the head restraint in
the direction of arrow ;.

If the head restraint is fully lowered, it is nec-
essary to press release catch

X To raise: pull the head restraint up to the

Release lever

(fore-and-aft adjustment)
X Push release lever :down completely.
The steering column is unlocked.
X Adjus tthe steering wheel to the desired
position.
X Push release lever :up completely.
The steering column is locked.
X Check if the steering column is locked.
When doing so, try to push the steering
wheel up or down or try to move it in the

Important safety notes The EASY-ENTRY/EXIT feature makes getting
in and out of your vehicle easier.
You can activate and deactivate the EASY-
ENTRY/EXIT feature in the on-board com-
puter (Y
page 243). G
WARNING
Make sure that nobody can become trapped
when you activate the EASY-ENTRY/EXIT fea-
ture.
If there is a risk of someone becoming trap-
ped, stop the adjustment procedure. To halt
the procedure:
R press the steering column adjustment but-
ton.
R briefly press one of the memory function
position buttons.
The steering column stops moving immedi-
ately.
Do not keep the memory function position
button pressed down, otherwise the memory
function will start and the steering wheel and
seat will begin to move.
Never leave children unsupervised in the vehi-
cle. They could open the driver's door and
thereby unintentionally activate the EASY-
ENTRY feature and become trapped. Steering wheel
