Emergency fuel filler lid release
If the fuel filler lid does not open using
the remote fuel filler lid release, you can
open it manually with a coin or flat-blade
screwdriver, etc. Remove the panel in the
luggage compartment area. Pull the han-
dle out slightly.

If a fire breaks out during refuel-ing, leave the vicinity of the vehi-
cle, and immediately contact the
manager of the gas station and
then contact the local fire depart-
ment. Follow any safety instruc-
tions they provide.CAUTION
Make sure to refuel your vehicle according to the “Fuelrequirments” suggested in sec-tion 1.
If the fuel filler cap requires replacement, use only a genuineKIA cap or the equivalent speci- fied for your vehicle. An incorrectfuel filler cap can result in a seri-ous malfunction of the fuel sys-tem or emission control system.
Do not spill fuel on the exterior surfaces of the vehicle. Any typeof fuel spilled on painted surfacesmay damage the paint.
After refueling, make sure the fuel cap is installed securely to pre-vent fuel spillage in the event ofan accident.
CAUTION
Do not pull the handle excessively,otherwise the luggage compart- ment area trim or release handlemay be damaged.

Fuel gauge
The fuel gauge indicates the approxi-
mate amount of fuel remaining in the fuel
tank.
The fuel tank capacity is given in sec-
tion 8.The fuel gauge is supplemented by
a low fuel warning light, which will illumi-
nate when the fuel tank is nearly empty.
On inclines or curves, the fuel gauge
pointer may fluctuate or the low fuel
warning light may come on earlier than
usual due to the movement of fuel in the
tank.

Tripmeter/
Trip computer (if equipped)
The trip computer is a microcomputer-
controlled driver information system that
displays information related to driving,
such as odometer, tripmeter, distance to
empty, average speed, elapsed time,
average fuel consumption, instant fuel
consumption and the ECOMINDER
TM
indicator (ECO ON/OFF) mode on the
display when the ignition switch is in the
ON position. All stored driving informa-
tion (except odometer, distance to empty
and instant fuel consumption) is reseted
if the battery is disconnected.

WARNING- Fuel gauge
Running out of fuel can expose
vehicle occupants to danger.
You must stop and obtain addition-
al fuel as soon as possible after the
warning light comes on or when the
gauge indicator comes close to the
E level.

The odometer is always displayed until
the display is turned off.
Press the TRIP button for less than 1
second to select tripmeter, distance to
empty, average speed, driving time, aver-
age fuel consumption or instant fuel con-
sumption function as follows:

The odometer indicates the total dis-
tance the vehicle has been driven.
You will also find the odometer useful to
determine when periodic maintenance
should be performed.

TRIP B : Tripmeter B
This mode indicates the distance of indi-
vidual trips selected since the last trip-
meter reset.
The meter's working range is from 0.0 to
999.9 km (0.0 to 999.9 miles).
Pressing the RESET button for more
than 1 second, when the tripmeter (TRIP
A or TRIP B) is being displayed, clears
the tripmeter to zero (0.0).

Distance to empty (if equipped)
This mode indicates the estimated dis-
tance to empty based on the current fuel
in the fuel tank and the amount of fuel
delivered to the engine. When the
remaining distance is below 30 km (50
miles), “---” will be displayed and the dis-
tance to empty indicator will blink.
The meter’s working range is from 30 to
990 km (50 to 990 miles).Average speed (if equipped)
This mode calculates the average speed
of the vehicle since the last average
speed reset.
Even if the vehicle is not in motion, the
average speed keeps going while the
engine is running.
Pressing the RESET button for more
than 1 second when the average speed
is being displayed or after the engine
stops and 2 hours elapsed, clears the
average speed to zero (---).Elapsed time (if equipped)
This mode indicates the total time trav-
eled since the last driving time reset.
Even if the vehicle is not in motion, the
driving time keeps going while the engine
is running.
The meter’s working range is from
0:00~99:59.
Pressing the RESET button for more
than 1 second when the driving time is
being displayed or after the engine stops
and 2 hours elapsed, clears the driving
time to zero (0:00).

Average fuel consumption (if equipped)
This mode calculates the average fuel
consumption from the total fuel used and
the distance since the last average con-
sumption reset. The total fuel used is cal-
culated from the fuel consumption input.
For an accurate calculation, drive more
than 50 m (0.03 miles).
Pressing the RESET button for more than
1 second, when the average fuel con-
sumption is being displayed, clears the
average fuel consumption to zero (--.-).
If the vehicle speed exceeds 1 km/h after
being refueled, the average fuel con-
sumption will be cleared to zero (--.-). Instant fuel consumption (if equipped)
This mode calculates the instant fuel
consumption every 2 seconds (Type B :
every 0.2 second) from the driving dis-
tance and quantity of fuel injection.
ECOMINDERTM INDICATOR
ECO ON/OFF mode (if equipped)
You can turn the ECOMINDER
TM indica-
tor (which is identified on your instrument
cluster by the “ECO” name) on/off on the
instrument cluster in this mode.
If you press the RESET button more than
1 second in the ECOMINDER
TM indicator
ECO ON mode, then ECO OFF is dis-
played and the ECO indicator turns off.
If you want to display the ECOMINDER
TM
indicator ECO again, press the RESET
button more than 1 second in the ECO
OFF mode and then ECO ON mode is
displayed in the LCD display.

• If the vehicle is not on level ground or
the battery power has been interrupt-
ed, the “Distance to empty” function
may not operate correctly.
The trip computer may not register
additional fuel if less than 6 liters (1.6
gallons) of fuel are added to the vehi-
cle.
• The fuel consumption and distance to empty values may vary significantly
based on driving conditions, driving
habits, and condition of the vehicle.
• The distance to empty value is an esti- mate of the available driving distance.
This value may differ from the actual
driving distance available.

Warnings and indicators
All warning lights are checked by turning
the ignition switch ON (do not start the
engine). Any light that does not illuminate
should be checked by an authorized KIA
dealer.
After starting the engine, check to make
sure that all warning lights are off. If any
are still on, this indicates a situation that
needs attention. When releasing the
parking brake, the brake system warning
light should go off. The fuel warning light
will stay on if the fuel level is low.

ECOMINDERTMindicator
(if equipped)
The ECOMINDERTMindicator is a system
that informs you to drive economically.
It is displayed if you drive fuel efficiently
to help you improve fuel efficiency.
The ECOMINDER
TMindicator will turn
the ECO light green on the instrument
panel when you drive fuel efficiently in
the ECO ON mode. If you don't want
the indicator displayed, you can turn
the ECO ON mode to OFF mode by
pressing the RESET button for more
than 1 second.
When the instant fuel consumption mode(if equipped) is displayed on the
LCD display or the system is not work-
ing properly, the indicator turns off. If
the indicator turns off when the instant
fuel consumption mode is not selected,
have the system checked by an author-
ized KIA dealer as soon as possible.
The fuel efficiency depends on the dri- ver's driving habit and road condition.
The system stops operating when the transmission is in the P (Park), R
(Reverse), N (Neutral) position, sports
mode, or when the instant fuel con-
sumption mode is selected.

Door ajar warning light
This warning light illuminates when a
door is not closed securely with the igni-
tion switch in any position.

Immobilizer indicator
(if equipped)
Without smart key system
This indicator light illuminates when the
immobilizer key is inserted and turned to
the ON position to start the engine.
At this time, you can start the engine. The
light goes out after the engine is running.
If this light blinks when the ignition switch
is in the ON position before starting the
engine, have the system checked by an
authorized KIA dealer. With smart key system
If any of the following occurs in a vehicle
equipped with the smart key, the immobi-
lizer indicator illuminates, blinks or goes
off.
When the smart key is in the vehicle, if
the ENGINE START/STOP button is in
the ACC or ON position, the indicator
will illuminate for a few minutes to indi-
cate that you are able to start the
engine. However, when the smart key
is not in the vehicle, if the ENGINE
START/STOP button is pressed, the
indicator will blink for a few minutes to
indicate that you are not be able to
start the engine.
When the ENGINE START/STOP but- ton is changed to the ON position from
the ACC position without the smart key
in the vehicle, the indicator light blinks
for a few minutes to indicate that you
are not be able to start the engine.
When the battery is weak, if the ENGINE START/STOP button is
pressed, the indicator will blink and you
are not able to start the engine.
However, you are able to start the
engine by inserting the smart key in
the smart key holder. If the smart key
system related parts have a problem,
the indicator will blink.

Low fuel level warning light
This warning light indicates the fuel tank
is nearly empty. When it comes on, you
should add fuel as soon as possible.
Driving with the fuel level warning light on
or with the fuel level below “E” can cause
the engine to misfire and damage the
catalytic converter (if equipped).

Low washer fluid levelwarning light (if equipped)
This warning light indicates the washer
fluid reservoir is nearly empty. Refill the
washer fluid as soon as possible.
