Restrictions in handling keys When leaving keys with parking lot and
valet attendants, the following proce-
dures will ensure that your vehicle’s trunk
and glove box compartment can only be
opened with the mechanical key.
LockWhen leaving the key with a parking lot
attendant or valet, perform the following.
Remove the mechanical key from the
smart key and leave the smart key with
the attendant. In this manner the smart
key can only be used to start the engine
and operate door locks.
Trunk
1. Open the trunk lid.
2. Set the trunk lid control switch toLOCK position ( ).
3. Close the trunk lid.
Glove box
1. Press and hold the release button(1) and remove the mechanical key (2).
To reinstall the mechanical key, put the
key into the hole and push it until a
click sound is heard.
2. Close and lock the glove box using the mechanical key.

Lock releaseTrunk
1. Open the trunk lid with the mechanicalkey.
2. Set the trunk lid control switch to UNLOCK ( ).
3. Close the trunk lid.
In this position the trunk will open with
the trunk lid release button or smart key.
Glove box
Unlock the glove box using the mechani-
cal key.
Battery replacementA smart key battery should last for sever-
al years, but if the smart key is not work-
ing properly, try replacing the battery with
a new one. If you are unsure how to use
your smart key or replace the battery,
contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
1. Insert a slim tool into the opening and gently pry open the rear cover of the
smart key.
2. Replace the battery with a new battery (CR2032). When replacing the battery,
make sure the battery positive “+” sym-
bol faces up as indicated in the illus-
tration.
3. Install the battery in the reverse order of removal.

4Room lampTo turn the room lamp ON or OFF, push
the switch or lens.
Trunk lampThe trunk room lamp comes on when the
trunk is opened.
Glove box lampWhen the ignition key is in the ignition
switch, the smart key is in the smart key
holder or the engine start/stop button is
in the ACC position, if the glove box is
opened, the glove box lamp will come on.

Climate control air filterThe climate control air filter installed
behind the glove box filters the dust or
other pollutants that come into the vehi-
cle from the outside through the heating
and air conditioning system. If dust or
other pollutants accumulate in the filter
over a period of time, the air flow from the
air vents may decrease, resulting in
moisture accumulation on the inside of
the windshield even when the outside
(fresh) air position is selected. If this hap-
pens, have the climate control air filter
replaced by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
✽ ✽NOTICE• Replace the filter according to the
Maintenance Schedule.
If the vehicle is being driven in severe
conditions such as dusty, rough roads,
more frequent climate control air fil-
ter inspections and changes are
required.
• When the air flow rate suddenly decreases, the system should be
checked at an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
Checking the amount of air con-
ditioner refrigerant and compres-
sor lubricantWhen the amount of refrigerant is low,
the performance of the air conditioning is
reduced. Overfilling also has a negative
influence on the air conditioning system.
Therefore, if abnormal operation is
found, have the system inspected by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer.✽ ✽ NOTICEIt is important that the correct type and
amount of oil and refrigerant is used.
Otherwise, damage to the compressor
and abnormal system operation may

Center console storage To open the center console storage, pull
up the lever.
Glove boxThe glove box can be locked and
unlocked with a master key (or the
mechanical key of the smartkey) (1).
To open the glove box, pull the handle
and the glove box will automatically
open. Close the glove box after use.

Do not store cigarette lighters,
propane cylinders, or other flamma-
ble/explosive materials in the vehi-
cle. These items may catch fire
and/or explode if the vehicle is

7Replace the filter according to the
Maintenance Schedule.If the vehicle is operated in extremely
dusty or sandy areas, replace the ele-ment more often than the usual recom-mended intervals. (Refer to “Maintenance under severe usage condi-tions” in this section.)
Filter inspectionThe climate control air filter should be
replaced according to the Maintenance
Schedule. If the vehicle is operated in
severely air-polluted cities or on dusty
rough roads for a long period, it should
be inspected more frequently and
replaced earlier. When you replace the
climate control air filter, replace it per-
forming the following procedure, and be
careful to avoid damaging other compo-
nents.
Filter replacement1. Open the glove box and remove the support strap (1).
CAUTION
 Do not drive with the air cleaner removed; this will result in exces-sive engine wear.
 When removing the air cleaner fil- ter, be careful that dust or dirtdoes not enter the air intake, ordamage may result.
 Use a HYUNDAI genuine part. Use of non-genuine parts could dam-age the air flow sensor.

clockwise on both sides. 3. Remove the climate control air filter
cover while pressing the lock on the
right of the cover. 4. Replace the climate control air filter.
5. Reassemble in the reverse order of
disassembly.
✽ ✽NOTICEWhen replacing the climate control air
filter install it properly. Otherwise, the
system may produce noise and the effec-
tiveness of the filter may be reduced.
