o Modification to SRS components
or wiring, including the addition of any kind of badges to the pad covers or modifications to the body structure, can adversely affect SRSperformance and lead to possible injury.
o For cleaning the airbag pad cov- ers, use only a soft, dry cloth orone which has been moistened with plain water. Solvents or clean-ers could adversely affect the airbag covers and proper deploy- ment of the system.
o No objects should be placed over or near the airbag modules on thesteering wheel, instrument panel, and the front passenger's panel above the glove box, because any such object could cause harm ifthe vehicle is in a crash severe enough to cause the airbags to inflate.
o If the airbags inflate, they must be replaced by an authorised Hyundaidealer.

WARNING:
o Extreme Hazard! Do not use a rear- ward facing child restraint on a seat protected by an airbag in front of it!
o Do not install a child restraint sys- tem in the front passenger seatposition. A child restraint system mustnever be placed in the front seat. The infant or baby could be se- verely injured by an airbag de-ployment in case of an accident.
B240C02NF-DAT SRS Care The SRS is virtually maintenance-free and so there are no parts you can safelyservice by yourself. If the SRS SRI (Service Reminder Indicator) does not come on, or continuously remains on,have your vehicle immediately in- spected by your authorised Hyundai dealer. Any work on the SRS system, such as removing, installing, repairing, or anywork on the steering wheel must be performed by a qualified Hyundai tech- nician. Improper handling of the SRSsystem may result in serious personal injury.

o Do not tamper with or disconnect
SRS wiring, or other components of the SRS system. Doing so could result in injury, due to accidental firing of the airbags or by render-ing the SRS inoperative.
o If components of the airbag sys-
tem must be discarded, or if thevehicle must be scrapped, certain safety precautions must be ob- served. Your Hyundai dealerknows these precautions and can give you the necessary informa- tion. Failure to follow these pre-cautions and procedures could increase the risk of personal in- jury.
o If you sell your vehicle, make cer- tain that this manual is transferredto the new owner.
o If your car was flooded and has soaked carpeting or there is wateron the floor, do not start the en-gine; have the car towed to an authorised Hyundai dealer.

DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI

C160C01A-AAT Use High Quality Ethylene Gly- col Coolant Your Hyundai is delivered with high quality ethylene glycol coolant in the cooling system. It is the only type ofcoolant that should be used because it helps prevent corrosion in the cooling system, lubricates the water pump andprevents freezing. Be sure to replace or replenish your coolant in accor- dance with the maintenance schedulein Section 5. Before winter, have your coolant tested to assure that its freez- ing point is sufficient for the tempera-tures anticipated during the winter.
It should be noted that installing tyrechains on the tyre will provide a greaterdriving force, but will not prevent side skids. NOTE: Tyre chains are not legal in all states. Check state laws before fitting tyrechains.WINTER DRIVING
C160B01A-DAT Snowy or Icy Conditions To drive your vehicle in deep snow, it may be necessary to use snow tyres or to install tyre chains on your tyres. If snow tyre are needed, it is necessaryto select tyres equivalent in size and type to the original equipment tyres. Failure to do so may adversely affectthe safety and handling of your car. Furthermore, speeding, rapid accel- eration, sudden brake applications, andsharp turns are potentially very haz- ardous practices. During deceleration, use engine brak-ing to the fullest extent. Sudden brake applications on snowy or icy roads may cause skids to occur. You need to
keep sufficient distance between the vehicle in operation in front and your vehicle. Also, apply the brake gently.
C160A01A-DAT The more severe weather conditions of winter result in greater wear and other problems. To minimise the prob- lems of winter driving, you should fol-low these suggestions:
C160F02A-AAT Check Spark Plugs and Ignition System Inspect your spark plugs and replace them if necessary. Also check allignition wiring and components to be sure they are not cracked, worn or damaged in any way.
C160E01A-AAT Change to "Winter Weight" Oil if Necessary In some climates it is recommended that a lower viscosity "winter weight" oil be used during cold weather. See Section 9 for recommendations. If youaren't sure what weight oil you should use, consult your Hyundai dealer.
C160D01A-DAT Check Battery and Cables Winter puts additional burdens on the battery and charging system. Visuallyinspect the battery and cables as de- scribed in Section 6. The level of charge in your battery can be checked by yourHyundai dealer or a service station.

7ANY QUESTIONS?
E040E01S-DAT Cleaning the Windows You may use any household window cleaner on the windows. However, when cleaning the inside of the rear windowbe careful not to damage the rear win- dow defroster wiring. When cleaning rear windows wipe along the defrosterbars rather than across. E050A01A-AAT If you have any questions about the care of your car, consult your Hyundai dealer.
E040D01A-AAT Cleaning the Seat Belts To clean the seat belts, use a cloth or sponge with mild soap or detergentand warm water. Do not use strong detergents, dye, bleach or abrasive materials on the seat belts as this mayweaken the fabric. While cleaning the belts, inspect them for excessive wear, cuts, fraying orother signs of damage and replace them if necessary.
E040C01A-AAT Cleaning the Carpets Use a foam-type carpet cleaner. Clean- ers of this type are available in aerosolcans in liquid form or powder. Read the instructions and follow them exactly. Using a vacuum cleaner with the ap-propriate attachment, remove as much dirt from the carpets as possible. Apply the foam following the manufacturer'sdirections, then rub in overlapping circles. Do not add water. These clean- ers work best when the carpet is keptas dry as possible.
! CAUTION:
When cleaning leather products (steering wheel, seats etc.), use neu- tral detergents or low alcohol con-tent solutions. If you use high alco- hol content solutions or acid/alka- line detergents, the color of the leathermay fade or the surface may get stripped off.

17CHECKING AND REPLAC- ING FUSES
!
CAUTION:
When replacing a fusible link, never use anything but a new fusible linkwith the same or lower amperage rating. Never use a piece of wire or a higher-rated fusible link. Thiscould result in serious damage and create a fire hazard. G200B02HP-AAT Replacing Accessory Fuse The fuse box for the lights and other electrical accessories will be found lowon the dashboard on the driver's side. Inside the box you will find a list show- ing the circuits protected by each fuse.If any of your car's lights or other elec- trical accessories stop working, a blown fuse could be the reason. If the fuse hasburned out, you will see that the metal strip inside the fuse has burned through. If you suspect a blown fuse, follow thisprocedure:
1. Turn off the ignition and all other
switches.
2. Open the fuse box and examine
each fuse. Remove each fuse by pulling it toward you (a small "fuse puller" tool is contained in the relay and fuse box of the engine room tosimplify this operation).
3. Be sure to check all other fuses even
if you find one that appears to haveburned out.
G200A01A-AAT Replacing a Fusible Link
OMC045003
A fusible link will melt if the electrical circuits from the battery are ever over- loaded, thus preventing damage to the entire wiring harness. (This could becaused by a short in the system draw- ing too much current.) If this ever happens, have a Hyundai dealer de-termine the cause, repair the system and replace the fusible link. The fusible links are located in a fuse box for easyinspection.
