Practical information











12 V battery
The battery is located under the bonnet.
To gain access to it:)open the bonnet using the interior release lever, then the exterior safety catch,
)secure the bonnet stay,
Access to the battery
Procedure for charging your battery when it is flat or for star ting the engine using another battery and jump leads.
) remove the retaining pins A , )
remove the protective cover B,)remove the retaining pins C , )remove the air duct D.

Bonnet
)Open the right hand front door. )Pull the interior bonnet release lever A ,
located at the bottom of the door aper ture.
Do not open the bonnet in high winds. When the engine is hot, handle theexterior safety catch and the bonnetstay with care (risk of burns).
)
Unclip the stay C
from its housing on the back of the bonnet. )
Fix the stay in the notch to hold the bonnet open.


Closing
)
Take the stay out of the support notch. )
Clip the stay in its housing on the back of
the bonnet.) Lower the bonnet and release it at the endof its travel. )
Pull on the bonnet to check that it is secured correctly.


The location of the interior bonnet releaselever prevents opening of the bonnet while the right hand front door is closed.


Opening
)Push the exterior safety catch B
to the left and raise the bonnet.
This messa
ge appears in the instrument panelscreen if the bonnet is not fully closed.
The cooling fan may star t after switching off the engine: take carewith ar ticles and clothing that mightbecome caught by the fan blades.

Running out of fuel (Diesel)
engine, the fuel system must be manuallyprimed if you run out of fuel; refer to thecorresponding Diesel engine compartment

1.6 litre HDi engine
)
Fill the fuel tank with at least five litres of diesel. )
Open the bonnet.)
If necessary, unclip the styling cover for
access to the priming pump. ) Squeeze and release the priming pump
repeatedly until resistance is felt (there may
be resistance at the first press). ) Operate the star ter until the engine starts(if the engine does not star t at the first
attempt, wait around 15 seconds before
tr
ying again). ) If the engine does not star t after a few
attempts, operate the priming pump again
then start the engine. ) Clip the styling cover back in place. )
Close the bonnet.

Checking levels


Take care when working under the bonnet, as certain areas of the engine may be extremelyhot (risk of burns).

Oil level
The check is carried out with the dipstick.
This check will only be correct if the
vehicle is on level ground and theengine has been off for more than 30 minutes.
It is normal to top up the oil level between
two ser vices
(or oil changes). CITROËN
recommends that you check the level, and top
up if necessary, every 3 000 miles (5 000 km).
After topping up the oil, the check when switching on the ignition with the oil levelindicator in the instrument panel is not validduring the 30 minutes after topping up.
Engine oil change
Refer to the ser vicing booklet for details of theinterval for this operation.
In order to maintain the reliability of the engine and emission control system, the use of additives in the engine oil is prohibited.
Oil specifi cation
The oil must be the correct grade for your
engine and conform to the manufacturer'srecommendations.

If a level drops si
gnificantly, have the corresponding system checked by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Check all of these levels regularly, in line with the ser vicing booklet and the requirements of the warranty. Top them up if necessary, unless other wise indicated.

There are two marks on the dipstick:

If you fill past this mark,contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop. B
= minimum
Never allow the level to fallbelow this mark.

Identifi cation markings Various visible markings for the identification and tracing of your vehicle.
A.Manufacturer's plate.It is riveted to the middle pillar, right handside and carries the following information:
- the name of the manufacturer,
- the European whole vehicle typeapproval number,
- the vehicle identification number (VIN),
- the maximum authorised vehicle weight(gross vehicle weight),
- the maximum authorised weight of
vehicle + trailer (gross train weight),
- the maximum front axle weight,
- the maximum rear axle weight.


The tyre pressures must be checked when the tyres are cold, at least oncea month.


If the tyre pressures are too low, thisincreases fuel consumption.
B.Tyre label. It is fixed to the middle pillar, driver's side
and carries the
following information:


- the tyre sizes,

- the tyre pressures.
D.Vehicle identification number (VIN) at
the bottom of the windscreen aperture.
It is marked on a label visible through the
windscreen, left hand side.
Original equipment tyres can be
chained using 9 mm chains. Contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualifiedworkshop.
C.Vehicle identification number (VIN) under the bonnet. This number is engraved on the body near
the damper support.
