GEARBOX
5-speed - reverse gear gearbox
To change gear easily, always press
the clutch pedal fully.
To prevent the mat from becoming
caught under the pedal:
- e n s u r e t h a t t h e m a t a n d i t s fi x i n g s o n t h e fl o o r a r e p o s i t i o n e d c o r r e c t l y ,
- n e v e r fi t o n e m a t o n t o p o f a n o t h e r .
When driving, avoid leaving your hand
o n t h e g e a r k n o b a s t h e f o r c e e x e r t e d ,
even if slight, may wear the internal
c o m p o n e n t s o f t h e g e a r b o x o v e r t i m e . To engage reverse gear, wait until the
vehicle is stationary then push the gear
lever to the right then down.
The lever should be moved slowly to
reduce the noise on engaging reverse
gear. In order to drive as fuel
e f fi c i e n t l y a s p o s s i b l e w i t h a
m a n u a l g e a r b o x , t h i s i n d i c a t o r
lamp indicates to the driver to
change up.
The driver remains responsible for
deciding whether or not to follow this
indication, since the indicator lamp
comes on without taking into account
t h e c o n fi g u r a t i o n o f t h e r o a d , t h e
a m o u n t o f t r a f fi c a n d s a f e t y f a c t o r s .
The lighting of this indicator lamp
cannot be deactivated.
When reverse gear is engaged
and when changing down whilst
decelerating, the function is disabled.

6-SPEED ELECTRONIC GEARBOX SYSTEM
- automatic mode: gear lever in position A .
- manual mode: gear lever in position M .
For safety:
It is only possible to come out
of position N if the brake pedal is
pressed.
The change from position A (driving in
automatic mode) to position M (driving
in manual mode) or vice versa can be
made at any time. The warning lamp A
goes off in the instrument panel. Moving off
- To start the engine, the gear lever
must be in position N .
- P r e s s fi r m l y o n t h e b r a k e p e d a l .
- Operate the starter.
- When the engine is running, place the selector lever on R , A or M as
desired.
- Release the brake pedal and accelerate.
If the gear lever is not in position N ,
and/or if the brake pedal is not
pressed, the engine will not start.
Repeat the above procedure.
Mode selection Reverse gear

Move the gear lever to R .
Only attempt to select reverse gear
when the vehicle is stationary.
Neutral
Changing to neutral
Move the gear lever to N . If the vehicle
is moving, do not select this position

Changing gear
In situations of high engine speeds
(heavy acceleration), a change
up will not occur unless the driver
o p e r a t e s e l e c t r o n i c g e a r b o x s y s t e m
lever.
Manual mode
Changing to manual mode
Move the gear lever to M .
Automatic mode
Changing to automatic
mode
Move the gear lever to A .
T h e g e a r b o x t h e n f u n c t i o n s i n
automatic mode, without any action on
your part.
It constantly selects the gear that is
best suited to the following conditions:
- driving style,
- r o a d p r o fi l e ,
- optimum fuel consumption. Pull on the "
+ " control
paddle to change up.
Pull on the " - " control
paddle to change down.
- If the vehicle stops or reduces s p e e d ( f o r e x a m p l e w h e n
approaching a stop sign),
t h e g e a r b o x c h a n g e s d o w n
a u t o m a t i c a l l y , t o fi r s t g e a r i f
needed.
- It is not necessary to release the accelerator completely during gear
changes.
- A request to change gear is accepted only if the engine speed
permits it.
- For safety reasons, depending on the engine speed, a change down
may be performed automatically.

When the vehicle is stationary, unlock
the steering wheel by pulling the lever.
Adjust the height and depth of the
steering wheel, then lock by pushing
the lever fully.

Acceleration
For optimum acceleration (e.g. to
overtake another vehicle), simply
press the pedal beyond the point of
resistance at the end of its travel, by
p r e s s i n g d o w n fi r m l y .
Vehicle stationary, with the
engine running
In the event of a prolonged stop with
t h e e n g i n e r u n n i n g , t h e g e a r b o x
changes automatically to neutral N .
Stopping the vehicle
Before stopping the engine, put the
gear lever in position N .
In all cases, it is essential to apply
the parking brake. Check that the
parking brake warning lamp is on in the
instrument panel.
Before doing anything in the
engine compartment, check that
the gear lever is in neutral N .

Stop & Start
STOP & START
The Stop & Start system puts the
engine temporarily on standby - STOP
m o d e - d u r i n g s t o p s i n t h e t r a f fi c ( r e d
l i g h t s , t r a f fi c j a m s , o r o t h e r . . . ) . T h e
engine restarts automatically - START
mode - as soon as you want to move
off. The restart takes place instantly,
quickly and silently.
Perfect for urban use, the Stop & Start
system reduces fuel consumption and
e x h a u s t e m i s s i o n s a s w e l l a s t h e n o i s e
level when stationary.
Operation
Going into engine STOP mode The "ECO" warning lamp
comes on in the instrument
panel and the engine goes
into standby:
- with a manual gearbox , at speeds
below 12 mph (20 km/h), when you
put the gear lever into neutral and
release the clutch pedal,
- with the 6-speed electronic
gearbox system , at a speed below
5 mph (8 km/h), when you press
the brake pedal or put the gear
lever into position N . I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h t h e s y s t e m ,
a time counter calculates the sum of
the periods in STOP mode during a
journey. It rests itself to zero every time
the ignition is switched on with the key.
W i t h t h e a u t o m a t i c g e a r b o x
system, for your comfort during
parking maoeuvres, STOP mode
is not available for a few seconds after
coming out of reverse gear.
STOP mode does not affect the
functionality of the vehicle, such as
b r a k i n g , p o w e r s t e e r i n g , f o r e x a m p l e .
Never refuel with the engine in
STOP mode; you must switch off
the ignition with the key. Special cases: STOP mode
unavailable
STOP mode is not invoked when:
- the driver's door is open,
- the driver's seat belt is not fastened,
- t h e v e h i c l e h a s n o t e x c e e d e d 6 m p h
(10 km/h) since the last engine start
using the key,
- the parking brake is applied or being applied,
- the engine is needed to maintain a comfortable temperature in the
passenger compartment,
- demisting is active,
- some special conditions (battery charge, engine temperature,
braking assistance, ambient
temperature...) where the engine
is needed to assure control of a
system.
In this case, the "ECO"
w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s f o r a
few seconds, then goes off.
This operation is perfectly normal.
