Hatch
To open the hatch, with all doors
unlocked, press the button on the
underside of the hatch and lift up.
Always close the hatch before
driving. Do not press the button
while closing the hatch; it will unlock
it again.

Windows
The power window switches
are on the driver door armrest.
Each passenger door has a switch
that controls only that window.
Press the front of the switch to lower
the window. Pull the switch up to
raise it.
The driver and passenger windows
have an express-down feature and
the driver window has express-up.

Seat Adjustment
Seat Position
To adjust the seat position:
1. Pull the handle at the front of the
seat cushion to unlock it.
2. Move the seat forward or rearward and release the
handle.
3. Try to move the seat back and forth to be sure it is locked in
place.

Sensing System for
Passenger Airbag
The passenger sensing system will
turn off the right front passenger
frontal airbag and passenger knee
airbag under certain conditions.
The driver airbags, seat‐mounted
side impact airbags, and roof‐rail
airbags are not affected by the
passenger sensing system. See
Passenger Sensing System on
page 3‑33for more information.
The passenger airbag status
indicator will be visible on the
overhead console when the vehicle
is started. See Passenger Airbag
Status Indicator on page 5‑20.
Mirror Adjustment
Exterior
Mirrors can be folded inward toward
the vehicle to prevent damage when
going through an automatic car
wash. Push the mirror outward to
return it to the original position.

Controls for the outside power
mirrors are on the driver door. To adjust a mirror:
1. Move the selector switch to
L (left) or R (right) to choose
the driver or passenger mirror.
2. Press the arrows on the control pad to move each mirror in the
desired direction.
3. Return the selector switch to the center position.

When the rear window defogger
is activated, the heated mirriors,
if equipped, will also come on.
See Heated Mirrors on page 2‑16.
Interior
The vehicle has an automatic
dimming inside rearview mirror.
Automatic dimming reduces the
glare from the headlamps of the
vehicle behind you. The dimming
feature and the indicator light come
on each time the vehicle is started.
Hold the mirror in the center to
adjust it. See Automatic Dimming
Rearview Mirror on page 2‑16.

Front Seats
Seat Adjustment
{WARNING
You can lose control of the
vehicle if you try to adjust a
manual driver seat while the
vehicle is moving. The sudden
movement could startle and
confuse you, or make you push
a pedal when you do not want to.
Adjust the driver seat only when
the vehicle is not moving.To adjust the seat position:
1. Pull the handle at the front of the
seat cushion to unlock it.
2. Move the seat forward or rearward and release the
handle.
3. Try to move the seat back and forth to be sure it is locked in
place.
Seat Height Adjuster
Move the lever up or down to raise
or lower the seat.
Reclining Seatbacks
{WARNING
You can lose control of the
vehicle if you try to adjust a
manual driver seat while the
vehicle is moving. The sudden

Adjust the driver seat only when
the vehicle is not moving.
{WARNING
If either seatback is not locked, it
could move forward in a sudden
stop or crash. That could cause
injury to the person sitting there.
Always push and pull on the
seatbacks to be sure they are
locked.

4. When the child restraint isremoved, reinstall the head
restraint before the seating
position is used.
{WARNING
With head restraints that are
not installed and adjusted
properly, there is a greater
chance that occupants will suffer
a neck/spinal injury in a crash.
Do not drive until the head
restraints for all occupants are
installed and adjusted properly. To reinstall the head restraint:
1. Insert the head restraint posts
into the holes in the top of the
seatback. The notches (A) on
the posts must face the driver
side of the vehicle. 2. Push the head restraint down.
If necessary, press the height
adjustment release button to
further lower the head restraint.

3. Try to move the head restraint to make sure that it is locked in
place.

Headlamp Aiming
The headlamp aiming system has
been preset at the factory.
If the vehicle is damaged in an
accident, the aim of the headlamps
may be affected and adjustment
may be necessary.
It is recommended that a dealer
adjust the headlamps. To re-aim
the headlamps yourself, use the
following procedure.
The vehicle should be properly
prepared as follows:
.The vehicle should be placed so
the headlamps are 7.6 m (25 ft)
from a light‐colored wall.
.The vehicle must have all four
tires on a level surface which is
level all the way to the wall.
.The vehicle should be placed so
it is perpendicular to the wall or
other flat surface.
.The vehicle should not have any
snow, ice, or mud on it.
.The vehicle should be fully
assembled and all other work
stopped while headlamp aiming
is being performed.
.The vehicle should be normally
loaded with a full tank of fuel and
one person or 75 kg (160 lbs)
sitting on the driver seat.
.Tires should be properly inflated.
Headlamp aiming is done with the
vehicle's low-beam headlamps.
The high-beam headlamps will be
correctly aimed if the low-beam
headlamps are aimed properly. To adjust the vertical aim:
1. Open the hood. See
Hood on
page 10‑9 for more information.2. Locate the aim dot on the lens of
the low‐beam headlamp.
3. Measure the distance from the ground to the aim dot on the
low‐beam headlamp. Record
the distance.
