Recommended Fluids and Lubricants
This maintenance section applies to vehicles with a gasoline engine. If the vehicle has a diesel engine, see the
maintenance schedule section in the Duramax diesel supplement.
Fluids and lubricants identified below by name, part number, or specification can be obtained from your dealer.Usage Fluid/Lubricant
Engine Oil Use only engine oil licensed to the dexos1
®specification of the proper SAE
viscosity grade. ACDelco dexos1 Synthetic Blend is recommended. See
Engine Oil on page 10-6.
Engine Coolant 50/50 mixture of clean, drinkable water and use only DEX-COOL
®Coolant.

Hydraulic Brake System DOT 3 Hydraulic Brake Fluid (GM Part No. 19299818, in Canada 19299819).
Windshield Washer Automotive windshield washer fluid that meets regional freeze protection requirements.

Recording and
Privacy
Vehicle Data Recording
This vehicle may be equipped with a
module that records data in certain
crash or near crash-like situations,
such as when an air bag deploys or
the vehicle hits a road obstacle.
This data could help provide a
better understanding of the
circumstances in which crashes and
injuries occur. Some data may be
related to the vehicle dynamics and
safety systems operation. The data
may show:
.How various systems in the
vehicle were operating.
.Whether or not the driver and
passenger safety belts were
buckled/fastened.
.If and how far the driver was
pressing the accelerator and/or
brake pedal.
.How fast the vehicle was
traveling.
This data could provide an
understanding of the circumstances
in which crashes and injuries occur.
Data could be recorded by the
vehicle only if a non-trivial crash
situation occurs; no data are
recorded under normal driving
conditions and no personal data are
recorded. However, other parties,
such as law enforcement, could
combine recorded data with the type
of personally identifying data
routinely acquired during a crash
investigation.
To read recorded data, special
equipment is required, and access
to the vehicle or the module is
needed. In addition to the vehicle
manufacturer, other parties, such as
law enforcement, that have the
special equipment, can read the
information if they have access to
the vehicle or the module.

Vehicle Diagnostics
OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics can
perform a vehicle check every
month. It will check the engine,
transmission, antilock brakes, and
other major vehicle systems. It also
checks the tire pressures, if the
vehicle is equipped with the Tire
Pressure Monitoring System. If an
On-Demand Diagnostics check is
needed, press
Q, and an Advisor
can run a check.
