• If the LED in the upper edge of the driver's door panel comes on
for about 30 seconds after the vehicle is locked, there is a malfunc­
tion in the power locking or the anti-theft warning system . Have the
ma lfunct ion corrected by an authorized Audi dea lership or qualified
repair facility. •
Setting power locking
The driver con determine the functions for power locking
in the radio or in the MMI*.
In the Central locking menu you can dec ide which doors
should be unlocked when opening the vehicle .
- Press the
I CAR) function button.
- Select
Central locking . The Central locking menu
appears.
For example, if you switch the i tem Unlocking single door On , the
passenge r's door is no longer included in the power locking system,
and will not be unlocked by pressing the unlock button on the master
key remot e control.
You can cont in ue to unlock all the doors and the rear lid as before .
Press the opening button on the master key twice.
In addit ion to th is, the
Auto locking can be switched on and off.
When lockin g the vehicle, all doors and the trunk lid are locked auto­
matically.
If you switch
Trunk lid/tailgate On, then the handle on the rear lid
=>
page 47, fig. 39 is locked. In this case the rear lid can be opened
with the button
cs on the master key=> fig. 33. If the vehicle has the
Convenience key* feature, then the handle will continue to work even
if an valid key is near the prox imity sensor.
If you select
F old mirror s* On , the automatic outside m irror fold
function is activated - the outside mirrors fold when the locking
button on the remote master key is operated {I)=>

When you select Confirmation tone On, a confirmation tone sounds
when you lock the veh icle. •

The brightness of the lights is controlled automatically by a dimmer
when they are switched on and o ff. •

Clear vision
The sun visors for the driver and passenger can be pulled out of their
brackets in the center of t he veh icle and turned tow ards the the doors
=> fig. 74 (D .
Vanity m irror
The vanity mirrors on the sun visors are covered. When the lid is
opened @, the mir ror ligh t in the head line r tu rns o n automa tic ally.
It turns off when the lid is closed and the visor is folded up aga in .•

Move the wind shield w iper leve r to t he corresponding position :

(D -Interval mode . To extend/shorten t he wiper intervals, move the
switch @to the left/r ight . In ve hicles with a rain sensor*, the w ind­
shield wipers are activated automat ically starting at a speed of 2 mph
(4 km/h) . The higher the sensitivity of the ra in se nsor* is set (sw itch
@ to the right), the earlier the winds hield wipers react to moisture
on the w indshield .

Seats and storage Folding down the front seatbacks
- Lift the latch=> page 79, fig. 83.
- Tilt the seatbac k forward.
Moving the front seats forward
-Press and hold the switch@ until the seat has reached the
desired position.
Moving front seats back
- Press and hold the switch @ until the seat has reached the
des ired position. The seat stops automatically when it has
reached its starting position again .
To make it easier to enter and leave the rear seat, the seatbacks of the
front seats can be folded forward and the head restraints are auto ­
matically lowered. At the same time, the front seats can be moved
forward and back.
When the front seats a re moved forward, their orig inal position is
stored . When it is moved back, the seat automatically stops in this
posit ion. To move the seat even further back, you have to release the
switch @ and reactivate it.
T he head rest raints from the front seats, depending on the seat
height that has been set, are automatically retracted when the seat­
backs are folded down. They return to their original position again
when the seatbacks for the front seats are ra ised .
(I) Tips
With the driver's or passenger's door closed, the corresponding
switch to move the seat is inoperative.•

Memory for driver's seat
The seat adjustment settings for two drivers can be
stored using the memory buttons in the driver's door .

In addition to the setting for the driver's seat, the exterior rear view
mirror setting ca n be stored and reca lled through seat memory if the
vehicle is properly equipped.
Storing and recalling settings
With the help of the memory buttons 1 and 2 ~ fig. 84 the settings
for two different drivers can be stored and recalled~
page 81.
The current settings are also automatically stored on the remote
control key being used when the vehicle is locked. When the vehicle is
unlocked, the settings stored on the remote contro l key being used
are automatically recalled.
Turning seat memory on and off
If the [ ON/OFF] switch is depressed , the seat memory is inoperative.
The word
OFF in the [ ON/OFF] sw itch illuminates .
All the stored settings are retained. We recommend using the
I ON/OFF] switch and deact ivating the seat memory if the vehicle is .,

only going to be used temporarily by a driver whose settings are not
going to be stored. •

Storing and recalling settings
Before you can store or recall your settings, the [ ON/OFF]
switch on the seat memory must be engaged (not raised).
Storing settings
- Adjust the driver's seat.
- Adjust the two exterior mirrors .
- Press the
I SETI button and hold it down. In addition, press
one of the memory buttons for at least one second .
- Release the buttons. The settings are now stored under
the corr esponding memory button .
Recalling settings
- If the driver's door is open, tap the corresponding memory
button briefly .
- If the driver's door is closed , press the appropriate
memory button unt il the stored position is reached .
Successful storage is confirmed audibly and by the light in the [SET)
button illuminat ing=> page 80, fig . 84.
When the vehicle is
loc ked , the current settings are stored and
ass igned to the remote contro l key. B ut the setti ngs sto red on
memory buttons 1 to 2 are not deleted. They can be reca lled at any
time. When the vehicle is
unlo ck ed , the settings stored on the
remote control key are restored.
If your vehicle is driven by other persons using your remote control
key , you should save your individua l seat position on one of the

memory buttons. You can recall your settings again simply and
conveniently by press ing the cor responding memory button. When
the vehicle is locked, these settings are automatically re-assigned to
the remote control key and stored.

To be able to recall the stored settings with the remote
control key, the function has to be activated in the radio
or in the MM!*.

If you do not want another driver to store their settings on the
remote key, switch
off the Memory function using the radio or the

c ondensation. Only then can good visibilit y be ensured. Famil ­
iarize your self with the correct operation of the automatic climate
c ontrol system as well as the proper p ro cedure for defog­
ging/defro sting the window s.

• If you suspect that t he automatic climate cont rol system has bee n
damaged, switch the system off to avoid f urther damage and have it
i n spected by a qualified dealership.
• Repa irs to the Aud i automatic c limate contro l system require
speciali zed knowledg e and spec ial tools. Therefore, contact an autho­
rized dealer in the event of malf unctio ns.
[I) Tips
• To avoid adversely affecting heating and cooling performance and
to preven t condensat ion on the w indows, the air intake in front of the
windshield must be free of ice, snow and leaves.
• Th e air flowing o ut of the ve nts and throug hout the vehicle's
entire interior is discharged at the rear of the vehicle. Make sure that
t he o utlet slo ts a re not covered by clothing, e tc.
• Th e automatic cl imate control system works most effectively if
the w indows are closed . However, if the interior of a pa rked vehicle is
extremely hot from the sun, briefly opening the windows can speed
up t he cooling process. •

ice, snow and condensation.
• Completely familiarize yourself with the proper use and func­
tion of the heating and ventilation sy stem and especially how to
defog and defrost the windows .
• Never u se the wind shield wiper/wa sher system in free zing
weather until you have warmed the wind shield first , u sing the
heating and ventilat ion system . The washer solut ion may freeze
on the wind shield and reduce vi sibility.

• When you shift into the next lower gear, the transmission w ill
downshift only when there is no possibility of over-revving the
eng ine.
• When the kick-down comes on, the transmission will shift down to
a lower gear, depending on vehicle and engine speeds.
• tiptronic ® is inoperative when the transmission is in the fai l-safe
mode. •

Steering wheel with tiptronic ®
The shift buttons on the steering wheel allow the driver to
shift gears manually.

The shift buttons are activated when the selector lever is in D, Sor in
the manual shift program (tiptronic).
Of course, you can cont inue to use the manual shift program with the
selector lever on the center console. •

Automatic transmission malfunction 0
In the event of a system malfunction, the automatic transmission
switches to emergency operation mode .
Gearbox malfunction: you can continue driving
You can cont inue to drive the vehicle. See an authorized Audi dealer
or other qualified workshop at the next opportunity .
Gearbox malfunction: you can continue driving (limited
funct ionality )
There is a serious system malfunction:
• Th e program shifts only into certain gears.
• The engine may sta ll.
• It is not poss ible to restart the engine if it has been sw itched off .
• Co ntinuing to drive could result in subsequent damage.

If the transmission switches to fail-safe mode, you sho uld take the
vehicle to an authorized Audi dealers hip as soon as poss ible to have
the condition corrected. •
