FAMILIARISATION
Instrument panel
A. When the ignition is on, the fuel
gauge needle should rise.
B. When the engine is running, its as-
sociated low level warning light
should switch off.
C. When the ignition is on, the oil level
indicator should display "OIL OK"
for a few seconds.
If the levels are not correct, top up the
level which is low. Lighting of the indicator light indicates
the status of the corresponding function.
When the ignition is on, the orange and
red warning lights come on.
When the engine is running, these
warning lights should switch off.
If any warning light remains on, refer to
the page concerned.

FAMILIARISATION
1. Insertion of the key.
2. Selection of the "OFF" position
3. Removal of the key keeping the
switch in this position. This prevents opening of the two rear
doors from the inside.
With the ignition on, press the button.
A message appears on the multifunc-
tion display.
You are advised to check that the child
lock is activated each time you switch
on the ignition.
When the
ignition is switched on , if a front
occupant has not fastened his seat belt
and if the vehicle speed is below 12 mph
(20 km/h) , you are warned by the seat belt
warning light which comes on.
The warning light switches off when the
seat belt(s) concerned is(are) fastened.
If the vehicle speed is above 12 mph
(20 km/h) , you are warned by the seat belt
warning light w h i c h fl a s h e s , a n a u d i b l e
signal and a message on the multifunction
display locating the seat belt(s) left unfas-
tened.

This menu allows you to set the bright-
ness of the display, the display colour
scheme and the colour of the map
(day/night and auto mode).
V e h i c l e
This menu permits the activation or
deactivation of certain driving and
comfort systems:
- air conditioning (A/C),
- vehicle information,
- access to the vehicle,
- driving assistance,
- l i g h t i n g c o n fi g u r a t i o n ,
- comfort lighting.
U n i t s
This menu permits selection of the
units: temperature (°C or °F) and fuel
c o n s u m p t i o n ( k m / l , l / 1 0 0 , m i l e s a n d
mpg).
S y s t e m
This menu permits restoring of the factory
c o n fi g u r a t i o n , d i s p l a y o f t h e s o f t w a r e v e r -
sion and activation of scrolling text. F o r s a f e t y r e a s o n s , c o n fi g u -
ration of the multifunction
screen by the driver must only
be done when stationary. COLOUR SCREEN (WITH PEUGEOT CONNECT NAVIGATION) "SETUP" menu
Press the SETUP button to gain access
to the "SETUP" menu. This provides
access to the following functions:
- System language,
- Date & Time,
- Display,
- Vehicle,
- Units,
- System.

This menu allows you to select
the language used by the display:
German, English, Spanish, French,
Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese.
D a t e & T i m e
This menu allows you to set the date
and time, the format of the date and
the format of the time (refer to the
"Audio and Telematics" section).
This displays the following information:
- time,
- date,
- ambient temperature (the value dis-
p l a y e d fl a s h e s i f t h e r e i s a r i s k o f i c e ) ,

cess to the main menu and select one
of the following functions: Navigation-

ration, Video, Vehicle Diagnostics and
Air Conditioning. - Choose colour,
- Adjust brightness,
- Adjust date and time,
- Choose units.

Permits the activation or deactivation
of certain driving and comfort ele-
ments:
- p e r m a n e n t l o c k i n g o f t h e b o o t o n
the 407 Saloon,
- automatic illumination of headlamps,
- automatic "guide-me-home" lighting,
- automatic rear wiping on engaging reverse gear on the 407SW.
The " C o n fi g u r a t i o n " menu provides
access to the following functions:
- D i s p l a y c o n fi g u r a t i o n ,
- Sound,
- Choice of language,
- D e fi n e t h e v e h i c l e p a r a m e t e r s .
You can connect video equipment
(camcorder, digital camera, ...) to the
t h r e e v i d e o s o c k e t s , l o c a t e d i n t h e
glove box.
Video display is only possible when
stationary.
Select the Video menu from the general
menu:
- "Activate video mode" to activate/deactivate the video,
- "Video parameters" to set the dis- play format, the brightness, the con-
trast and the colours.

"Rear screen open" warning
When the engine is running , if the
rear screen is not fully closed, you are
warned by a message on the multi-
function screen.
When the vehicle is moving (speed
greater than 6 mph (10 km/h)), if the
rear screen is not fully closed, you are
warned by an audible signal, a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen and
lighting of the service warning lamp. Tailgate release
This enables the tailgate to be un-
locked in the event of a central locking
fault.
- Fold back the rear seats to gain
access to the lock from inside the
boot.
- Insert a small screwdriver into hole A
of the lock to unlock the tailgate.

Automatic illumination of
headlamps

o n a u t o m a t i c a l l y i f t h e l i g h t i s p o o r a n d
when the windscreen wipers operate
continuously. They switch off when
the light is bright enough or the wind-
screen wipers stop.
Warning: in foggy weather or in snow,
t h e s u n s h i n e s e n s o r c a n d e t e c t s u f fi -
c i e n t l i g h t . T h e l i g h t i n g w i l l n o t c o m e
o n a u t o m a t i c a l l y . I f n e c e s s a r y , y o u
m u s t s w i t c h t h e d i p p e d b e a m h e a d -
l a m p s o n m a n u a l l y . Activation Manual "Guide-me-home" lighting
When you leave your vehicle, the side-
l a m p s a n d d i p p e d b e a m h e a d l a m p s
can be left on for a few seconds.
When the function is activated, the
i n d i c a t o r l a m p c o m e s o n o n t h e
5 - d i a l i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l s c r e e n .
To deactivate or activate the
function, use the "Persona-
l i s a t i o n - c o n fi g u r a t i o n "
m e n u o n y o u r m u l t i f u n c t i o n
screen.
F o r s a f e t y r e a s o n s , a c t i v a t i o n /
d e a c t i v a t i o n o f t h e " A u t o m a t i c
i l l u m i n a t i o n o f h e a d l a m p s s "
f u n c t i o n v i a t h e m e n u m u s t b e
carried out when stationary. To deactivate or activate the
" A u t o m a t i c g u i d e - m e - h o m e
lighting" function, use the
"Personalisation - confi-
guration" m e n u o n y o u r
m u l t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n .
The duration of the lighting
can be set via the "Person-
a l i s a t i o n - c o n fi g u r a t i o n "
m e n u o f y o u r m u l t i f u n c t i o n
screen.
Automatic "Guide-me-home"
lighting
When you leave your vehicle
with
the automatic illumination of head-
lamps a c t i v a t e d , t h e s i d e l a m p s a n d
d i p p e d b e a m h e a d l a m p s r e m a i n o n
for the duration selected after the igni-
tion is switched off.
Deactivation
When the function is deactivated,
t h e i n d i c a t o r l a m p c o m e s o n o n t h e
5 - d i a l i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l s c r e e n .
D o n o t c o v e r t h e s u n s h i n e /
brightness sensor, located in
the centre of the windscreen.
It is used to regulate the air
c o n d i t i o n i n g a n d f o r t h e a u t o m a t i c i l -
l u m i n a t i o n o f h e a d l a m p s .
If the sunshine/brightness sensor
does not function correctly, the
s i d e l a m p s a n d d i p p e d b e a m h e a d l a m -
p s c o m e o n .

Activation:
switch off the engine,
" fl a s h " t h e h e a d l a m p s ,
get out of the vehicle and lock it.
