Indicator and warning lamps
Visual indicators informing the driver that a system is in operation (operation or
deactivation indicator lamps) or of the occurrence of a fault (wa rning lamp).
When the ignition is switched on
Certain warning lamps come on for a few seconds when the vehi cle's ignition is
switched on.
When the engine is started, these same warning lamps should switch off.
If they remain on, before moving off, refer to the informati on on the warning lamp
concerned.
Associated warnings
The switching on of certain warning lamps may be accompanied b y an audible
signal and a message on the multifunction screen. The warning lamps may come on
c o n t i n u o u s l y ( fi x e d ) o r fl a s h .
Certain warning lamps may come
on in two different modes. Only by
relating the type of lighting to the
operating status of the vehicle can
it be ascertained whether the situa-
tion is normal or whether a fault has
occurred.
Operation indicator lamps

system has come into operation.

towards you. Pull the stalk to return to dipped beam
headlamps.

Options
Once the "Options" menu has been select-
ed, you can start diagnostics of the status of
the equipment (active, not active, faulty). Language
Once the "Language" menu has been
selected, you can change the language
used by the display (Français, Italiano,
Nederlands, Portugues, Portugues-Brasil,
Deutsch, English, Espanol).
Display settings
Once the "Display settings" menu has
been selected, you can gain access to
the following settings:
- year,
- month,
- day,
- hour,
- minutes,
- 12 or 24 hour mode.
Units
Once the "Units" menu has been se-
lected, you can change the units of the
following parameters:
- temperature (°C or °F),
- fuel consumption (l/100 km, mpg or
km/l).
Once you have selected a setting,
press the "OK" button to change its
value.
Wait for approximately ten seconds
without any action to allow the changed
data to be recorded or press the "ESC"
button to cancel.
The screen then returns to the normal
display.

- directional headlamps (refer to the
"Visibility" section),

When the engine is cold, to prevent
too great a distribution of cold air,
t h e a i r fl o w w i l l o n l y r e a c h i t s o p t i -
mum level gradually.
In cold weather, it favours the dis-
tribution of warm air to the wind-
screen, the side windows and the
footwells only. On entering the vehicle, if the in-
terior temperature is much colder
or warmer than the comfort value,
there is no need to alter the value
displayed in order to obtain the re-
quired level of comfort. The system
corrects the temperature differ-
ence automatically and as quickly
as possible.
The air conditioning can only operate
with the engine running.
The driver and his front passen-
ger can each set the tempera-
ture to suit their requirements.
Turn dial 2 or 3 to the left to reduce
the value or to the right to increase it.
A setting around 21 enables you to ob-
tain an optimum level of comfort. De-
pending on your requirements, a setting
between 18 and 24 is usual.
In addition, it is recommended that you
avoid a left/right setting difference of
more than 3.
4. Automatic visibility programme The automatic comfort pro-

to quickly demist or defrost the
windscreen and side windows
(humidity, several passengers,
ice...).
In this case, select the automatic
visibility programme.
The system automatically controls the
a i r c o n d i t i o n i n g , t h e a i r fl o w a n d t h e a i r
intake and provides optimum distribu-
tion of the ventilation to the windscreen
and side windows.
Automatic operation
Press the "AUTO" button.

DUAL-ZONE DIGITAL AIR CONDITIONING
We recommend that you use this mode:
it provides optimised automatic control of
all of the functions, passenger compart-
m e n t t e m p e r a t u r e , a i r fl o w , a i r d i s t r i b u -
tion and air recirculation, in accordance
with the comfort value that you have se-
lected.
This system is designed to operate ef-
fectively in all seasons, with the win-
dows closed. The value indicated on the display cor-
responds to a level of comfort and not
to a temperature in degrees Celsius or
Fahrenheit.

WINDOW CONTROLS
System which opens or closes a win-
d o w m a n u a l l y o r a u t o m a t i c a l l y . I t i s fi t -
ted with a system which controls all four
windows on all models.
1. Driver's electric windows switch.
2.
Passenger's electric windows switch.
Each window switch controls, on its
own side, the front window and the rear
quarter light. One-touch electric windows
You have two options:
The windows (except the driver's
window) do not have an automatic
mode or safety anti-pinch function
for closing.
For your safety, the windows rise
in several stages; however, always
be vigilant.
The window control switches re-
main operational for approximate-
ly 45 seconds after the ignition
is switched off or until a door is
opened.
Press or pull switch 1 . The
window stops as soon as the
switch is released.
The rear quarter light only opens once the
front window has opened completely.
Electric windows
- manual mode
Press or pull switch 1 gently. The
window stops as soon as the switch
is released.
The rear quarter light only opens once the
front window has opened completely.
- automatic mode
Press switch 1 fully. The window
opens or closes completely when
the switch is released.
Pressing the switch again stops the
movement of the window.
If you continue to press the switch,
the rear quarter light will open or
close.

Special position of the windscreen
wipers
In the minute following switching off of
the ignition, any action on the stalk po-
sitions the wipers vertically on the wind-
screen.
This action enables you to position the
wiper blades for winter parking.
To park the wipers after this has been
done, switch on the ignition and operate

lamp comes on gradually:

With the ignition on, press the cor-
responding switch. With the "permanent lighting" mode,
the duration of lighting varies, de-
pending on the circumstances:
- with the ignition off, approxi-
mately ten minutes,
- in energy economy mode, ap- proximately thirty seconds,
- with the engine running, unlimi- ted.
- when the vehicle is unlocked,
- when the key is removed from the
ignition,
- when a door is opened,
- when the remote control locking but- ton is activated, in order to locate
your vehicle.
It switches off gradually:
- when the vehicle is locked,
- when the ignition is switched on,
- 30 seconds after the last door is closed.

GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR *
System which reduces fuel consump-
tion by advising the driver to change up
o n v e h i c l e s fi t t e d w i t h a m a n u a l g e a r -
box.
Operation
The system intervenes only when driv-
ing economically.
Depending on the driving situation and
your vehicle's equipment, the system
may advise you to skip one or more
gears. You can follow this instruc-
tion without engaging the intermediate
gears.
The gear engagement recommenda-
tions must not be considered compulso-
r y . I n f a c t , t h e c o n fi g u r a t i o n o f t h e r o a d ,
t h e a m o u n t o f t r a f fi c a n d s a f e t y r e m a i n
determining factors when choosing the
best gear. Therefore, the driver remains
responsible for deciding whether or not
to follow the advice given by the system.
This function cannot be deactivated. Example:
- You are in third gear.
- You press the accelerator pedal
moderately.
- The system may suggest that you engage a higher gear, if appropriate.
The information appears in the form
of an arrow on the instrument panel
screen.
Depending on your vehicle's equipment,
this arrow may be accompanied by the
recommended gear. In the case of driving which makes
particular demands on the perfor-
m a n c e o f t h e e n g i n e ( fi r m p r e s -
sure on the accelerator pedal, for
example, when overtaking...), the
system will not recommend a gear
change.
The system never suggests:
- e n g a g i n g fi r s t g e a r ,
- engaging reverse gear,
- engaging a lower gear.
