Steering lock
Before starting, unlock the steering, if
necessary, by turning the steering wheel
slightly while turning the key.
It is advisable to press the clutch pedal
whle operating the starter to facilitate
the starting of the engine. ELECTRONIC ENGINE
IMMOBILISER
This locks the engine management sys-
tem as soon as the ignition has been
switched off and therefore prevents
starting of the vehicle by anyone who
does not have the key.
The ignition key has an electronic chip
which has a special code. When the ig-
nition is switched on, the code must be
recognised for starting to be possible.
If the system does not function cor-
rectly, the central locking button in-
dicator lamp, situated on the centre
c o n s o l e , fl a s h e s r a p i d l y w h e n t h e i g n i -
tion is switched on (2nd notch).
In this case your vehicle will not start.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as
possible.
Key in ignition
If the key is left in the ignition, this
is indicated by an audible signal
when the driver's door is opened.
Locating your vehicle
To locate your vehicle, if you have
locked it, in a car park:
press button A , the courtesy lamps
come on and the direction indicators
fl a s h f o r a f e w s e c o n d s . Changing the remote control
battery
Battery ref.: CR2016/3 volts.
I f t h e r e m o t e c o n t r o l b a t t e r y i s fl a t , y o u
are warned by a message on display B.
To replace the battery, remove the
screw then unclip the casing using a
coin at the ring.
If the remote control does not work after
the battery has been changed, repro-
gramme the remote control.
Reinitialising the remote control
Switch off the ignition.
Switch the ignition on again.
Press button A immediately for a
few seconds.
Switch off the ignition and remove
the remote control key from the igni-
tion lock. The remote control is now
working again.

CRUISE CONTROL
System which automatically maintains
the speed of the vehicle at the value
programmed by the driver, without any
action on the accelerator pedal.
The cruise control is switched on
manually: it requires a minimum vehicle
speed of 25 mph (40 km/h) and the en-
gaging of fourth gear.
The cruise control is switched off man-
ually or by pressing the brake or clutch
pedal or on triggering of the ESP sys-
tem for safety reasons.
It is possible to exceed the programmed
speed temporarily by pressing the ac-
celerator pedal.
To return to the programmed speed,
simply release the accelerator pedal.
Switching off the ignition cancels any
programmed speed value. The controls of this system are grouped
together on stalk

The cruise control cannot, in any
circumstances, replace the need to
respect speed limits, nor can it re-
place the need for vigilance and re-
sponsibility on the part of the driver.
You are advised to keep your feet
near the pedals.

Programming
Turn dial 1 to the "CRUISE" po-
sition: the cruise control mode is
selected but is not switched on
(OFF).
Exceeding the programmed speed
Intentional or unintentional exceeding of the programmed
s p e e d r e s u l t s i n fl a s h i n g o f t h i s s p e e d o n t h e d i s p l a y .
Return to the programmed speed, by means of intentional or
unintentional deceleration of the vehicle, automatically ca n-
c e l s t h e fl a s h i n g o f t h e s p e e d .
Return to normal driving
Turn dial 1 to the "0" position: the cruise control mode is
deselected. The display returns to the distance rec order.
Set the programmed speed by
accelerating to the required
speed, then press button 2 or 3
(e.g.: 70 mph (110 km/h)).
Switch off the cruise control by pressing button 4 : the
d i s p l a y c o n fi r m s t h a t i t h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f ( O F F ) .
Switch the cruise control back on by pressing button 4
again.
You can then change the programmed speed using but
tons 2
and 3 :
- by + or - 1 mph (km/h) = short press,
- by + or - 5 mph (km/h) = long press,
- in steps of + or - 5 mph (km/h) = maintained press. Operating fault
In the event of a cruise control malfunc-
tion, the speed is cleared resulting in
fl a s h i n g o f t h e d a s h e s .
Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
When the cruise control is switched
on, be careful if you maintain the
pressure on one of the programmed
speed changing buttons: this may
result in a very rapid change in the
speed of your vehicle.
Do not use the cruise control on
s l i p p e r y r o a d s o r i n h e a v y t r a f fi c .
On a steep descent, the cruise
control will not be able to prevent
the vehicle from exceeding the pro-
grammed speed.
To avoid any risk of jamming of the
pedals:
- ensure that the mat is posi-tioned correctly,
- n e v e r fi t o n e m a t o n t o p o f a n o - ther.

SPEED LIMITER
System which prevents the vehicle from
exceeding the speed programmed by
the driver.
When the programmed speed limit is
reached, pressing the accelerator pedal
no longer has any effect.
The speed limiter is switched on man-
ually: it requires a programmed speed
of at least 20 mph (30 km/h).
The speed limiter is switched off by
manual operation of the control.
The programmed speed can be
exceeded temporarily by pressing the
a c c e l e r a t o r fi r m l y .
To return to the programmed speed,
simply slow down to a speed below the
programmed speed.
The programmed speed remains in the
memory when the ignition is switched
off.
The speed limiter cannot, in any circum-
stances, replace the need to respect
speed limits, nor can it replace the need
for vigilance and responsibility on the
part of the driver. The controls of this system are grouped
together on stalk

Programming
Turn dial 1 to the "LIMIT" position:
the speed limiter mode is selected
but is not switched on (OFF).
Exceeding the programmed speed
Pressing the accelerator pedal to exceed the programmed
speed will not have any effect unless you press the pedal
fi r m l y past the point of resistance .
The speed limiter is deactivated temporarily and the pro-
g r a m m e d s p e e d , w h i c h i s s t i l l d i s p l a y e d , fl a s h e s .
Returning to the programmed speed, by means of intentional
or unintentional deceleration of the vehicle, automaticall y
c a n c e l s t h e fl a s h i n g o f t h e p r o g r a m m e d s p e e d . Return to normal driving
Turn dial 1 to the "0" position: the

You do not have to switch the speed

Set the speed value by pressing button 2 or 3 (e.g.: 55 mph
(90 km/h)).

- by + or - 5 mph (km/h) = long press,
- in steps of + or - 5 mph (km/h) = maintained press.

In the event of a speed limiter malfunc-
tion, the speed is cleared resulting in
fl a s h i n g o f t h e d a s h e s .
Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
On a steep descent or in the event
of sharp acceleration, the speed
limiter will not be able to prevent
the vehicle from exceeding the pro-
grammed speed.
To avoid any risk of jamming of the
pedals:
- ensure that the mat is posi-tioned correctly,

GENERAL FUNCTIONS
On/off
With the ignition key in
the accessories position
or with the ignition on,
press button A to switch

or off.
Anti-theft system
T h e a u d i o e q u i p m e n t i s c o d e d i n s u c h
a way that it can only operate in your
v e h i c l e . I t w o u l d n o t w o r k i f fi t t e d i n a n -
other vehicle.
The anti-theft system is automatic
and requires no action on your part.
Press button C to increase the audio
e q u i p m e n t v o l u m e o r b u t t o n B to de-
crease it.
A continuous press of buttons B and C
adjusts the volume gradually.
AUDIO SETTINGS
Press button G several
times in succession to
access the bass (BASS) ,
treble (TREB) , loudness
(LOUD) , fader (FAD) ,
balance (BAL) and auto-
matic volume correction
settings.
Exit from audio mode is automatic after
a few seconds without any action or by
pressing button G f o l l o w i n g c o n fi g u r a -
tion of the automatic volume correction. Adjusting the bass
When "BASS" is dis-
played, press button H or
I to change the setting.
- "BASS -9" for a min-
imum bass setting,
- "BASS 0" for a stan-
dard setting,
- "BASS +9" for a maximum bass
setting.
Adjusting the treble
When "TREB" is displayed, press but-
ton H or I to change the setting.
- "TREB -9" for a minimum treble set-
ting,
- "TREB 0" for a standard setting,
- "TREB +9" for a maximum treble
setting.
Adjusting the loudness (LOUD)
This function automatically emphasises
bass and treble tones.
Press button H or I to switch the func-
tion on or off.
Note: bass, treble and loudness settings
a r e s p e c i fi c t o e a c h s o u r c e . T h e y c a n b e
set differently for the radio or CD.
The audio equipment can operate for
30 minutes without the ignition being
switched on.

Adjusting the front/rear sound
distribution (Fader)
When "FAD" is displayed, press button H
or I .
Button H increases the volume in the
front.
Button I increases the volume in the
rear.
Adjusting the right/left sound
distribution (Balance)
When "BAL" is displayed, press button H
or I .
Button H increases the volume on the
right.
Button I increases the volume on the
left.
Automatic volume correction
This function automatically adjusts the
volume in relation to the speed of the
vehicle.
Press button H or I to switch the func-
tion on or off. RADIO
Notes on radio reception
Your car radio will be subject to phe-
nomena which do not affect domestic
radio sets. Both AM and FM reception is
subject to various forms of interference.
T h i s i s n o r e fl e c t i o n o n t h e q u a l i t y o f t h e
a u d i o e q u i p m e n t , b u t i s d u e t o t h e n a -
ture of the signals and the way in which
they are transmitted.
On AM, interference may be noticed
when passing under high voltage power
lines or bridges, or in tunnels.
On FM, interference may be the result of
increasing distance from the transmitter,
d e fl e c t i o n o f t h e s i g n a l s b y o b s t a c l e s
(mountains, hills, buildings, etc.), or of
being in an area which is not covered
by a transmitter. Selecting radio mode
