Theft-alarm system
N00510200013
The theft-alarm system is designed to provide protection from
unauthorized entry into the vehicle. This system is operated in
three stages: the first is the “armed” stage, the second is the
“alarm” stage, and third is the “disarmed” stage. If triggered,
the system provides both audible and visual alarm signals.Armed stage

Park the vehicle and stop the engine. Arm the system as
described below.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the “LOCK” position.
Also, if a key was used to start the engine, remove the key
from the ignition switch.
2. Make sure that the trunk lid and engine hood are closed.
CAUTION
!
When loading the trunk, place your things so that
they will not touch the emergency trunk lid release
lever when you close the trunk. Otherwise you could
damage the lever and make it unusable.

the F.A.S.T.-key.At this time, the theft-alarm indicator (A) on the audio
panel flashes for confirmation.

seconds, when the theft-alarm indicator (A) flashing
becomes slower.

NOTE
The system will be disarmed if, while the theft-alarm indi-
cator (A) is illuminated, all doors are unlocked by remote
control transmitter, the F.A.S.T.-key.
The system will be disarmed if, while the theft-alarm indi-
cator is illuminated, the ignition switch is turned to “ON”
or “ACC”.
The system will not be armed if a door or a trunk lid or a
engine hood is not completely closed. If this happens,
rearm the system as described above.
The driver should not arm the system until first confirm-
ing that all passengers have left the vehicle. If the driver
arms the system with passenger(s) in the vehicle, the
alarm may be activated when the passenger(s) open the
door.

NOTE
The alarm will continue to operate for 3 minutes. At the
end of that period, the alarm will automatically shut off to
save battery power. The system will then be rearmed until
the proper disarming step is taken.
While the alarm is operating, it is displayed on the infor-
mation screen in the multi-information display.
Alarm deactivationThe alarm can be deactivated in the following ways.
By using the remote control transmitter or the F.A.S.T.-
key to lock or unlock the door.
Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” or the “ACC” posi-
tion.
Disarmed stage
N00510500120
The system will be disarmed when either of the following steps
are taken:
1. All doors are unlocked by the remote control transmitter
or the F.A.S.T.-key.NOTE
If the UNLOCK button is pressed when all doors are
closed and no door is opened within approximately 30
seconds, re-arming will automatically occur.
2. The ignition switch is turned to the “ACC” or “ON” posi-
tion.
NOTE
Once the system has been disarmed, it cannot be rearmed
except by repeating the arming procedure.

Testing the theft-alarm system
N00510600088
Use the following procedure to test the system:
1. Lower the driver’s window.
2. Arm the system as explained in “Armed stage”.
3. Make sure that the theft-alarm indicator comes on and
flashes within approximately 20 seconds.
4. Wait a few seconds and then unlock the driver’s side door
by using the inside door lock knob and opening the door.
5. Check to be sure that the horn sounds intermittently and
the headlights blink on and off when the doors is opened.
6. Disarm the system by unlocking all doors by the remote
control transmitter or the F.A.S.T.-key.
Power windows
N00510800266
NOTE
Never try to operate the main switch and sub switch in dif-
ferent directions at the same time. This will freeze the
window in position.
Operating the power windows repeatedly with the engine
stopped will run down the battery. Use the window
switches only while the engine is running.

Main switch
N00548700084
The main switch located on the driver’s door can be used to
operate all door windows.
A window can be opened or closed by operating the corre-
sponding switch.
Press the switch down to open the window, and pull up the
switch to close it.
The driver’s window switch has different functions, depending
on the type of vehicles:
If the driver’s door window switch is fully pressed down/pulled
up, the driver’s door window automatically opens/closes com-
pletely.
If you want to stop the window movement, operate the switch
lightly in the reverse direction.

!
Before operating the power windows, make sure
that nothing can be trapped (head, hands, fingers,
etc.) in the window.
Never leave the vehicle with the key in the ignition
switch.
Never leave a child alone in the vehicle.

Sub switch
N00548800085
Each sub switch can be used for its own passenger door win-
dow, unless the driver’s window lock switch is activated. Timer function
N00548900116
The power windows can be run up or down when the ignition
switch is in the “ON” position.
The door windows can be opened or closed for a 30 second
period after the ignition switch is turned to the “ACC” or
“LOCK” position. However, once the driver’s door or the front
passenger’s door is opened, the power windows cannot be
operated.
Safety mechanism (Driver’s door window only)
N00528800076
If a hand or head is trapped, for safety the door window is auto-
matically lowered a little.
After the door window is lowered, pull up the switch again to
close the door window.
1- Close (up)
2- Open (down)
WA R N I N G
!
If the safety mechanism is activated three or more
times successively, the safety mechanism will be tem-
porarily cancelled.
If a hand or head subsequently gets trapped, a seri-
ous injury can result.
The safety mechanism is deactivated while the
switch is pulled up continuously. Therefore be espe-
cially careful that hands or head are not trapped in
the door window opening.
Do not deliberately trap your hands or head in
order to activate the safety mechanism.
Your hands or head could be trapped and personal
injury could result.CAUTION
!
The safety mechanism is deactivated just before the
door window closes. This allows the door window to
close completely. Therefore be especially careful that
fingers are not trapped in the door window opening.

NOTE
The safety mechanism may be activated if the driving
conditions or other circumstances cause the door window
to be subjected to a physical shock similar to that caused
by trapped hand or head.
If the safety mechanism is activated 3 or more times con-
secutively, the safety mechanism is deactivated and nor-
mal closing of the door window will be aborted.
Use the following method to return to normal operation.
1. If the door window is open, repeatedly pull up the
power window switch to fully close the door window.
2. With fully closing the window, release the switch and
then pull up the switch again for about 1 second.
Lock switch
N00549000068
When this switch is in the lock mode, the main switch for pas-
senger door window and the sub switch cannot be used to open
or close the door window, and the main switch will open or
close only the driver’s door window. To unlock the switch,
press it again.1- Lock

lock the window switch to make it inoperative. Chil-
dren tampering with the switch could easily trap
their hands or heads in the window.
