It is hazard
oustoy our health if your skin
comes into direct contact with fuels or you
breathe in fuel vapours. G
Risk of fire
Do not use petrol to refuel vehicles with adie-
sel engine. Never mix diesel with petrol. This
causes damage to the fuel system and engine
and could result in the vehicle catching fire.
! Do not use petrol to refuel vehicles with a
diesel engine. Do not use diesel to refuel
vehicles with apetrol engine. Even asmall
quantity of th ewrong fue lwill damage the
fuel system and engine.
! If the wrong fuel has been added by mis-
take, do not switch on the ignition .Ifyou
do, the fuel coul denter the fuel lines .The
fuel tan kand the fuel lines must then be
drained .Inform aqualified specialist work-
sho pand have the fuel tank and the fuel
lines drained comple tely. Petrol (EN 228)
Fuel grade !
Only refuel using unleaded premium-
grade petrol with at least
95 RON/8 5MON, whic hconforms to Euro-
pean standar dEN2 28.
Yo uc an otherwise impair engine output or
damage the engine.
! Do not use the following:
R E85 (petrol with 85 %ethanol)
R E10 0(100 %ethanol)
R M15 (petro lwith 15 %methanol)
R M85 (petrol with 85 %methanol)
R M10 0(100 %methanol)
R diesel
Do not mix these fuel swith petrol and do
not use any special additives. Otherwise,
this can lead to damage to the engine. This
does not include additives for the removal and prevention of residue build-up on the
inlet valves.
i If the recommended fuel is not available,
but only as atemporary measure, you may
also use regula runleaded petrol,
91 RON/82.5 MON. Thi smay reduce
engine performance and increase fuel con-
sumption. Avoid driv ingatf ull throttle.
In some countries, the fuel grad eavail able
may not be adequate and could cause res-
idu etob uild up around the inlet valve. In
such cases, and in consultation with a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre, the petrol
may be mixed with the additive recommen-
ded by Mercedes-Benz (part no.
A000989254510). You must observe the
note sand mixing ratios specified on the
container.
For further information on "Fuel" ,see
(Y page 313). Diesel (EN 590, DIN 51628)
Fuel grade !
Only refuel with diesel that conform sto
Europea nstandard EN 590 or German
standard DIN 5162 8orthe equivalent. You
can otherwise impair engin eoutput or dam-
age the engine.
! Vehicles with diesel particle filters: in
countries outsid ethe EU ,only use low sul-
phu rEuro diesel with asulphu rcontent of
under 50 ppm. Otherwise, the emission
con trol system coul dbedamaged.
! Vehicles without adiesel particle fil-
ter: the engin eoil should be changed more
frequently in countries in which diesel with
ah igher sulphur conten tisavailable .More
information about intervals for changing
the engin eoil can be obtained from any
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
! Using fuel that does not confor mtoEuro-
pean standard EN 590 or German standard

Windscreen washer system/headlamp
cleaning system The washer fluid reservoir is used for both the
windscreen washer system and the headlamp
cleaning system. G
Risk of fire
Windscreen washe rfluid is highly flam mable.
Fir e, naked flam es and smoking are prohibi-
ted when handlin gwasher fluid concentrate.
! Only use washe rfluid concentrate which
is suitable for plastic lamp lenses. Unsuit-
able washer fluid concentrate could dam-
age the plastic lamp lenses of the head-
lamps.
! Do not used distilled or de-ionised water
in the washer fluid container. Otherwise,
the fluid level measurin ggauge could be
damaged.
i Add windscreen washe rconcentrate, e.g.
MB Sum merFit, to th ewasher fluid all year
round. Washer fluid reservoir (example) X
Mix the windscreen washe rfluid in acon-
tainer beforehand.
X At temperatures above freezing: fillt he
washer fluid reservoi rwith am ix of water
and windsc reen washer concentrate (e.g.
MB Sum merFit).
X At temperatures belo wfreezing: fill the
washer fluid reservoir with amix of water,
antifreeze additiv eand windscreen washer
concentrate, e.g. MB WinterFit. Adapt the
mixing ratio to the outside temperatures.
X To open: pull cap:upward sbythe tab.
X Top up with the pre mixed washer fluid.
X To close: presscap : ontothe filler neck
until it engages. Service

Notes on care
Regular care of your vehicle is acondition for
retaining the quality in the long ter m.
Use car eproducts and cleaning agent srec-

! For cleanin gyour vehicle, do not use any
of the following:
R dry ,rough or hard cloths
R abrasiv ecleanin gagents
R solven ts
R cleaning agents containing solvents
Do not scrub.
Do not touch the surface sorprotective
films with hard objects ,e.g. aring or ice
scraper .You coul dotherwise scratch or
damage the surfaces and protective film. H
Environmental note
Dispose of empty packaging and cleaning
cloths in an environmentally respo nsible man-
ner.
! Do not park up your vehicle for alonger
period immediately after cleanin git, espe-
cially not after cleaning the whee lrims with
wheel rim cleanin gagent. Wheel rim clean-

Lubricant additives
!
Do not mix any lubrican tadditives with
the engin eoil. This could damage the
engine. Damage resultin gfrom th euse of
suc hlubricant additives in the engine oil is
not covered by the Mercedes-Benz implied
warranty.
Engin eoil viscosity Viscosit
ydescribes the flow characteristics
of afluid. If an engin eoil has ahigh viscosity,
this means that it is thick; alow viscosity
means that it is thin.
Selec tthe SA Eclassification (viscosity )ofthe
engine oil accordi ngto the outside tempera-
ture. The followin gtable shows you the vis-
cosity classes to be used depending on the
average air temperature. Brake fluid
G
Risk of accident
The brak efluid constantly absorbs moisture
fro mt he air ;this lower sits boiling point.
If the boiling point of the brake fluid is too low,
vapour pockets may form in the brake system
when the brakes are applied hard (e.g. when
driving downhill). Thi swould impair braking
efficiency.
You should have the brake fluid renewed at
regular intervals. The brake fluid change inter-
val sc an be found in the Service Booklet.
Only use brake fluid approved by Mercedes-
Benz .Information abou tapproved brak eflu-
ids can be obtained from any Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre.
